Lexi Lu’s Cafe

This place is awesome! They have the best iced coffee and specialty coffee drinks. Also the Grilled Portobello and Fresh Mozzarella with Red Roasted Pepper Aioli is amazing! Haven’t tried their salads yet but hear from others that they are great. You can’t beat the prices either. Friendly people working there! I love this new find!

After knowing about it for months, I finally tried Lexi Lu’s yesterday for lunch… and came back for coffee and a muffin this morning!
The first thing worth mentioning from previous scouting missions is that Lexi Lu’s has about half a dozen daily specials on offer each day, and they advised that, in future, I call first to confirm what’s on order and whether they are sold out.
My lunch was a very fresh cold chicken caesar wrap with fresh chicken salad (actually tasted like chicken!), romaine. The wrap was also soft — or more specifically not soggy or dried out as though it had been sitting around. Yesterday, they also had fresh cranberry-​walnut-​grilled chicken on spring greens on offer and offered me the fresh salad from the previous day — spring greens, chicken and fresh figs and gourmet cheese. Both the quality of my food and the character of the menu are, in my experience, a cut above for downtown Trenton.
My coffee was excellent this morning — they use Gilly’s coffee — and the muffin was fresh and tasty. The coffee was much better than E. Front Café. They had a variety of different breakfast pastries and cookies. They also had a big shiny ESPRESSO maker and I am looking forward to sampling that in future.
Sounds like their regulars are the sheriff’s office and other folks working at the Court Houses nearby. Not only are the staff here nice, they are also personable, which earned them a fifth star.

and tried it for lunch today. My husband and I shared a chicken panini and a roast beef panini. The sandwiches were excellent. Their warm, fresh bread was the perfect vehicle to deliver the delightful contents of each sandwich. The chicken panini comes with sliced chicken, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers and a dijon remoulade. The roast beef came with provolone and sundried tomato and garlic mayo. PLUS, each sandwich comes with a pickle! It’s hard to find sandwiches this good that cost under $ 7.00 each. It’s SO worth the trip! We’ll be back soon. They’re open from 7:30am-4:00pm M-​F. Definitely check it out for lunch!
