I used to like this place for a quick lunch. Great dogs & fries. Unfortunately, I stopped by the other day and the business was closed.

Very very close to real Chicago dogs. They roll up the dog with the French fries in the paper and it’s a really fun way to get your food. Fries are typical, nothing special. What we love about this place is that it’s run by a great little family, they are very friendly and welcoming. Only problem is they have odd hours.

I’m a convert to Chicago dogs, craving both the contrasting tastes, and the collage of textures for the ingredients. All the right ingredients, although I can’t say I’ve actually been to Chicago to compare with the real thing. Good hours for both an early lunch, or a late night(but not too late) snack.

The food was actually pretty good. Although I wasn’t impressed with how it looks, it is clean and simple. The dog was the closest I have had to a Chicago dog outside of the Windy City. The fries were very satisfying and there is nothing better than a glass bottle of coke to wash it all down. The young kid who was working all alone did a great job and was actively engaging the way you should be. Last, it may not be the best place to take a large group for dinner(small seating area) but for a quick stop or a late night snack it gets the job done for sure. I would recommend this place to anyone craving a Chicago dog, As my father said«it scratched the itch» and I would agree completely.

Ordered Italian beef. Disappointed because it was on a hot dog bun. That should not be the case. It needs to be on a traditional French roll eg Turano or Gonnella. Thus the sandwich was soggy. I did like the fresh cut fries though, which is why I’m giving 2 stars.

I am editing y review and dropping from 5 stars to 3. Start edit I was in Chicago the following week and had Chicago style hotdogs. The part that caused the rating drop was the size of the hotdogs. In Chicago that are fat large hotdogs. Here they are thin without much substance to them. I now don’t think I am getting the value for my money. Price for the same thing in Chicago was the same. End edit On the 16th of June they will be open for 8 months. Their late hours are very convenient when looking for a late night snack. I ordered the Chicago combo. Chicago style hot dog, handful of fries, and glass bottle of coke for $ 5. I started with the fries. exceptional! Chicago hot dog is a natural casing hotdog. Exceptional! I would be back again and I recommend you try it.

I decided to pop in and try this place out. The draw of handout fries pulled me in. The Italian Beef was very good. I will say that next time I might get the pepper mix on the side… it was really good but really really spicy :) The Fries were just as delicious as I hoped. I would recommend it and go again.

I can’t say the chicago hot dog could be any better, its was just Perfect! From the poppy seed bun, pickle, bright green relish, sports peppers, tomato, onion & mustard… PERFECT! Nice & clean location, can eat in or take them to go… Fresh cut fries, go give it a quick bite… You will be back, i will!

Tried the Italian Beef sandwich for the first time today. The beef was seasoned nicely and the juice from the meat soaked into the bun to make this utterly delectable. In addition, the hand-cut fries here are always prepared fresh and they don’t skimp on the salt, which I appreciate.

Have been craving an Italian Beef Sandwich since 2012(the last we were in the windy city), and finally there is place I can go downriver! ! The authenticity of the sandwich, and hot dogs is right on the money, and the fresh cut fries rock! Add to that, a very friendly owner(John), very clean and great looking place, and you have a winner! First time there, certainly not my last ;)

Enjoyed my visits to Sal’s Chicago Classic. I love the small businesses in the city. Highly recommend this cozy place. Not a lot of seating but I think it’s meant to be a carry out place more than a «restaurant». Pricing is fair and food is great. Different than anything around here.

Authentic Chicago dogs Downriver, which pleases this coney hater. A very small menu, Sal’s uses all the correct ingredients in both the traditional Chicago dog and Polish. The fries are very similar to the hand cut fries from Al’s Italian Beef in Chicago. They do now have the Italian Beef on the menu, but I did not try it. I suggested that they consider offering the«Char» or grilled option for the sausage which is very popular in Chicago.

Just recently opened, this is an attempt to bring a taste of the Windy City to the land of Coney Islands. You won’t find any coney dogs on this menu. What you will get is a true Chicago Dog with sport peppers, onions, pickle and whatever else they put on their dogs. All the ingrediants are shipped in from Chicago, including the famous Vienna hot dogs that Chicagoians rave about. The menu is very sparse, with only a couple of different varieties of Chicago dogs and a Polish sausage variety. They are served with a «handful» of fresh cut frys that are delicious. I spoke with the owners who hinted that another Chicago fave, the Italian Beef, may be there next menu item. I hope so. Although I will never be converted from a Coney fan, this is a nice addition to the local hot dog scene.
