Really cute place, great service and the food was delicious. I had the smoked chicken spud and a side of amazing mac n cheese. My husband had the pork, brisket and rib platter and he loved his too.

OMG the brisket. THEBRISKET!!! OMG!!! With a spoon and a dream you could turn this tender, melty brisket into a delicious meat smoothy. My biggest problem is that the sides are amazing, we did some fry concoction that tasted like a cheeseburger and fries had mated on a plate, but we were so full we didn’t have enough room for the amazing meats. So much good from the sides to the appetizers to the barbecue, I feel like the only proper way to do this is show up and opening and slowly work through till closing. The takeout is also fantastic for feeding a hungry troupe. We showed up about 45 minutes before closing and everyone was sooo nice. The food came fast, the service was super friendly, the place was incredibly clean and comfortable. I hate that it’s so far from home, but it was worth the 45 minute drive for such amazing food. Just writing this review has me aching to go back for more.

Hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had but my favorite is the Buffalo shovel or the stacker fry bucket. It’s been a while since I’ve been there so it’s possible the menu has changed. The menu does have new options on a regular basis which is good to keep people from getting bored. The mac –n-chz is made with 7 different cheeses and is honestly the best I’ve ever had. If you are on the road sampling America, this place is deff worth the stop.

Typical BBQ fare(ribs, brisket, beans, etc), but everything from the meat, prep, spices and cooking was perfect. I knocked it one star because they have no liqueur license(nobody does in this town even though it is not a dry county), and the atmosphere is a bit off(it’s a dining room in a storage shed). However, don’t let the knocks deter you, the food and the service make this a stop worth making.

I believe that there are a few of these locations, but this review only applies to this one. I was extremely underwhelmed with the BBQ. It was very dry and needed a TON of sauce. It may have been reheat meat which is unusual for a weekend. That’s an old trick to use older meat reserved for first of the week. The amount of food was also ridiculous. You get a lot for the price, but $ 13 for lunch was a little pricey. The font on the menu was very small and difficult to read. The saving grace was the sides. They were delicious. Our service was also very good. I was in the BBQ restaurant business for several years, so I am a good judge of great BBQ. This was not it. Thank god for the sides.

This place is just plain awesome. Words cannot express how wonderful the Oink Shovel on Tots tastes. You’ve got to get there and get you some… Now!!! The staff is fantastic as well. So helpful, kind, and attentive, even during a busy period. If you miss something like the Grand Canyon in your life, well, you’ve missed it. If you miss this place, you’ve really missed something life changing. Don’t let your life be full of such a regret!

We stopped by Thatcher’s on a road trip home and were delighted with the delicious BBQ – saved by Unilocal again! I ordinarily avoid BBQ, but was amazed with the flavors and choices this place has to offer. When we sat down in the smaller indoor seating area, my husband and I were immediately greeted by friendly staff and the wonderful aroma of smoked meats. I waffled between a smoked Reuben sandwich and the pulled pork«shovel,» finally deciding on the shovel. OMG. The hand cut corn chips made that extraordinarily yummy. My husband was jealous, even though his brisket bucket was meting in his mouth. I cannot say anything bad about this place. The service is great, prices were great, and the servings were enormous. I will definitely stop here again when I in the area.

I thought Thatcher’s porky bucket couldn’t be beat, but I was wrong. Get the brisket. You’ll thank me later.

Found this place on Unilocal as we were traveling home to Va from Louisiana. Some of the best bbq I’ve ever eaten. The fried green tomatoes reminded me of my Granny’s. Hope to travel this way again and will be sure to eat here.

If I could give this place six stars, I absolutely would. We’re vacationing from the Chicago ‘burbs, and just happened to find this place at lunch time. The food is amazing, the prices are right, and the portions are generous. We started with fried green tomatoes, and got more than we expected. Couldn’t finish them. Thick slices of fruit perfectly fried so they’re crispy but not burnt. The brisket literally(and I’m using the term correctly) melts in the mouth. The buckets were too big for us to finish in one setting — the Thatcher and the Brickhouse are hereby highly recommended. The fried okra is just like my Oklahoma grandma used to make. I can’t say enough. Eat here.

We took a fun trip through NC, GA, SC, TN and tried a number of bbq places. This was my favorite. Full menu and all of it yummy. But the brisket… Awesome! The best! Worth the stop!

Very good BBQ!!! The Cowboy Spud was excellent! Sweet tea was great! The bucket lights and other décor is cool! Watch out for the lock in the restroom tho, you think it’s locked, but it isn’t ;)

Stopped by here coming back from DeSoto St. Park after reading great Unilocal reviews needless to say the food and service far exceeded our expectations. I ordered a bbq sandwhich and a bucket w/bbq pork. They were both superb. The thing I really loved about the bucket was all the tots were cooked perfectly to crunchiness without being soggy and though they did have cheese and bbq sauce on them they weren’t drowning in sauce. Without a doubt I’ll be returning sometime soon and the service we received from Caitlyn and Kaycee was excellent. Thanks for a great first dining experience!

I asked Siri for a recommendation after a three hour hike at Cloudland Canyon State Park. She recommended Thatchers and I’m so glad she did. It tiny inside, 4 booths and 3 four top tables. I asked the server what was most popular and she recommended the Cowboy Spud, a loaded baked potato. Again, spot on recommendation. Sometimes it’s fun to let someone else make all the decisions! It was clean, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, no complaints!

Great ribs! Dry rubbed baby backs, these guys fall off the bone. The dry rub is fantastic! Someone else said they have great brisket. It’s good. I’d get the ribs instead. Great people too, very friendly and happy to have you there! Definitely will stop by again my next time through Trenton!
