This is my holy grail. I’ve tried lobsters from the east coast to the west coast, Florida and Caribbean lobsters, they’ve got nothing on Maine lobsters. I felt like a kid in a candy store at TBLP. I would go in, pick out a lobstah, pay and wait happily for my order # to be called. I prefer female lobsters because they have roes, which is probably very high in cholesterol but so worth it! The males have bigger claws if that’s your type. I could always count on the lobstah to be perfectly cooked, the meat juicy and sweet. One time, seeing that I was struggling to crack a claw on a 4lb lobstah, an employee told me they can bring it to the back and crack it for me! How awesome was that? Oh and don’t forget to get a slice of blueberry pie a la mode. I dare declare it’s better than Dysart’s! I no longer live in the area but I’ll always have fond memories of TBLP. Hope to see you again soon! TIP: for the best lobstah experience, I highly recommend ordering by the pound. I prefer hard shell lobstahs. I’ve gotten corn on the cob too. I haven’t and probably will never order their sandwiches, salads, whatever other stuffs they have on the menu. If you’re here, you MUST eat lobstah!

The other Unilocal reviews don’t lie. This is by far the best lobster joint in all of Maine– and I mean all of Maine. Whatever you do, don’t skimp out on the large lobsters. Pay a little extra per pound to get the larger ones. You’ll regret it when you get the smaller ones because the 1.5 pounders all lack meat. Also, when the guy asks you if you want a female or male lobster, ask for the male! They have larger claws; therefore, more lobster meat. I would recommend bringing a cooler to this lobster pound to bring some delicious suckers back home to wherever you’re from. In my tiny 3L cooler, the lobster specialist was able to pack 2– 2.5lb lobsters with ice packs and seaweed. They made it all the way to NYC in the cooler for 56 hours!

Now as a New Yorker(residing in upstate NY at the moment) I crave all things seafood all the time so when I had the chance to head to Maine for an extended weekend getaway I jumped on it! We heard the Monday was the last day of the season so we headed over. Food was awesome, the sizes of the lobsters varied which was a great thing(appealing to all budgets) and everything was FRESH! They boil the lobsters in seawater right outside. Sandwiches are meaty, soups/chowders are loaded with meat too. However, i found the chowder to lack body. When i think of clam chowder i think of big body stick to my ribs but this was more of a watery broth with clams. It was tasty but not a chowdah that I prefer. The crab and lobstee sandwich was all meat, no filler at all. Overall, good meal. Real deal Maine

If I could give 100 stars I would! I wanted to make my daddy’s 60th birthday memorable and I did with the help of Trenton Bridge. I live in California and ordered lobster to be sent here. I placed the order online which was easy to and called and spoke to Terry who was a doll. The lobsters arrived very quickly and my Dad was elated! I will not only recommend Trenton I will also be a lifetime customer! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Update: The lobster meat was so sweet and delicious! Cooking it was a breeze with the provided instructions and the postcard with the message was icing on the cake! Thank You!

Okay… so, I am a west coast guy and am not quite so lobster-literate as I should be. Visiting Maine from the left Portland, I know crab, oysters, salmon and steelhead, but there is a bit of mystery to these northeast bottom-dwellers. But my new friends at TBLP were everything I needed. When I travel, I try to find the most authentic places to eat that represent the people, land and culture of a place. My wife and I were delighted to find authentic cuisine here, delivered fast and with a smile. We ordered one hard shell and one soft shell lobster, potato salad, corn on the cob, and butter, hot sauce and lemon, a local IPA and a soda. Our tab was around $ 52! The lobster was amazing, and a helpful gal helped me learn how to deconstruct and consume this delicious crustacean. Truth be told, we couldn’t quite tell the difference in taste between the hard and soft shelled models. However, it was so good that I told my wife that there is no way I could EVER pass by the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound without stopping!(then she reminded me that we would be passing by tomorrow morning around 9AM on our way to New Hampshire!) Anyway, YOU should not fail to enjoy this great American dining experience if you ever travel to Bar Harbor. Yes, there are a lot of good restaurants and bars in Bar Harbor(special shout out to the Finback Alehouse, for one), but The TBLP is something unique and not to me missed.

The Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound was such a great lobster experience! The staff was so nice/helpful for a lobster newbie like myself. When you enter, there’s a line for ordering and there’s a lobster guy who you order your lobster from. He’ll be the one standing next to the freezers full of lobster. He’ll ask you two questions: Do you want hard or soft shell? And how big of a lobster do you want? They weigh the lobster, put it in a numbered bag, and give you an ordering slip for the rest of your order. It’s all a la carte so you can design your own meal. In addition to lobster, I got a side of butter, a corn, clam chowder, and blueberry pie. The food was all excellent – the lobster was especially delicious after being cooked in that seawater. The corn was delicious, the clam chowder is brothy with nice chunks of potato, and the blueberry pie was ridiculously good. It really tasted like blueberries and the crust was flaky. Too bad we were only in Bar Harbor for one day or else I would’ve made a second trip, but a girl can only eat so much lobster in one day…

Lobster was good. Didn’t enjoy the blueberry pie as much as everyone else seems too. Paid $ 6 for a can of local beer and a six pack of the same beer cost $ 8.99 at the grocery store so avoid that. Plenty of staff to help customers and clean tables which is always good. Id visit again and get a lobster. Indoor and outdoor seating.

I came here w my family on the way from Acadia to Portland, ME. we chose this place primarily from the great reviews it received. We ordered the lobster(soft and hard shell), the clams(steamed), and the lobster stew. We loved the lobster! They showed us the lobster before they steamed and it was so fresh and delicious! The soft shell lobster meat was a little sweeter than the hard shell but both were great. We would definitely recommend getting the lobster. We heard that Maine was also known for their calms so wanted to try those but I don’t know if I would order them again from this location. It could’ve been the day but we felt that they were a bit sandy and over cooked. Overall, we had a great experience, loved the lobster, and the individuals in the store were so helpful in explaining our options and patient while we stood there making our decisions.

On our quest for more lobster, my sister-in-law recommended Trenton Bridge. After leaving Bar Harbor, we stopped here and ordered two medium sized steamed lobsters. Our total for 2 lobsters, a bottled water, and a diet coke was $ 58. I guess that’s not bad? It definitely is a busy place! I had never really had a steamed whole lobster before so I had no idea what or how the heck to eat one. My husband showed me and cracked a few of the shells for me haha. I have to say the tail is the best part and very meaty! I was a little disappointed though since there was so little meat in the whole thing and my butter was a little too salty in the end. Oh well… it was still pretty good.

Absolutely amazing. Freshest lobster boiled in ocean water over a wood fire. The sea water stock is full of flavor leaving the food with a sweet brine flavor. I also tried the corn which is probably the best on the cob I’ve ever had. Will definitely stop again if I make it back to Acadia/Bar Harbor area.

We love this place and have been making this our start and end to our trips to Bar Harbor! Lobster is fresh, they are super friendly and even the sides are delicious! Potato salad is homemade and amazing. Lobster can be cracked for you to make life a bit easier and corn on the cob is wonderful too! This is just simple, honest food and cooked in pots outside to perfection. You will pay double in town for a lobster meal like this! Amazing! It is a week later and we are back! Heading out of Bar Harbor and we could not leave without some lobster stew and amazing potato salad with some home brewed ice tea! Everyone recognized us when we came in and we received such a warm greeting. Folks — This is the real deal. Fresh lobster and a family owned business since the 1950’s. In fact, my oldest held the founder’s hand — George when she was 4 years old and made the trips in and out to the lobster boil. She was so fascinated we ate and she came in and gobbled down her first lobster and told us all about it! So sorry to hear George passed away since we were here a few years ago. God bless. So glad to see the family business is running strong as ever!

This place was absolutely amazing. The only downside is the wait, but it’s absolutely worth it. We got 2 large hard shells & soft shells, one small soft shell, and steamed oysters. Plus butter & hot sauce which is 80 cents each, and 4 sodas. The total was around $ 140. Plus to make everything even better when it seems like it can’t, they steam the lobsters, clams, and oyster right outside in salt water! I’m not sure what more to say than that you have to check this place out when you’re in bar harbor

When you walk in, you get to choose between hardshell and soft. Always get the hardshell. They steam the lobster for you in their salt water. It was amazing. MUST get the blueberry pie with vanilla ice-cream. You will cry from this deliciousness. The one thing I regret in life is not getting a whole pie to go. Perhaps, three whole pies. I don’t know. It was that good. I live too far now. I always dream of going back. The view is also amazing.

This place was always packed when we drove by so we decided to check it out. Counter people were friendly and helpful. I got a lobster salad sandwich(basically their version of a lobster roll but on sliced bread) with coleslaw and clam chowder. The clam chowder had real, whole clam pieces in it which was nice, but it was a little thin consistency-wise. It had a good taste overall. Lobster sandwich was delicious but I could have done without the chives or whatever crunchy vegetables that were in the lobster salad. Blueberry pie was good but not the best I’ve had on my trip. They serve Coke products which no other place nearby or on MDI seems to, so that was a nice touch. They had HUGE live lobsters cooked in seawater that everyone else was ordering so if I went back I might try that!

Having been to a few so-so lobster pounds in the area, I can say that I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at the Trenton Lobster Pound. The lobsters were on par with any other lobster pound(let’s be real-it’s hard to mess up a plain steamed lobster). Cooking time was quick, and our orders were served within fifteen mins. The location served wine and bear, which made the meal even more enjoyable. What really made this meal extra great was the staff. The manager Josette was super friendly and happy to talk about this history of her restaurant with us. The rest of the staff was super helpful is anything else(i.e an additional lobster crackers) was needed. In general was very pleased with my experience here. Note, this restaurant is closed on Sunday’s, so come Monday through Saturday!

TBLP is brimming with history(and the smell of boiled lobstah smoke-stacked above five steamers as you drive by). It’s the first stop for many driving into Mt. Desert Island, but we didn’t come here till later in our trip. Somehow we got caught up chatting with the owners, who have interesting French-Irish roots in this region, and whose family has been operating the joint for decades. With my Unilocal check-in, I got a free copy of a postcard of a senior kinsman from the TBLP clan that I plan to have framed. Oh, you probably want to know if the food is good? Well, the lobster«sandwich»(a slight conceit, perhaps, as it’s really a lobster roll on wheat bread) is excellent, and arguably the best I had in Bar Harbor and its environs. Perfect dollops of lobster meat and mayo. It ain’t cheap, but well worth it. You can sit at the picnic tables outside, or hang out in one of the lobstah-red Adirondack chairs just outside the premises. Definitely coming back here if I ever return!

Road trip is insane. I am too tired to write any reviews but I am dedicated to what I am doing. Well, so here’s my review Locations: right besides the Trenton bridge, this place is very clear to be saw. A set of five-small-chimney, a small house with a huge sign — lobster take our & dine in, this place is not shiny or fancy. they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Although I sat inside, outside is close to the ocean view. Pretty beautiful. When you order the food, they would first ask if you want any steam lobster. If so, they would ask what size you want and give you piece of order for you to order other stuff. Food: of course, steam lobster, clam chowder and whole cobb. I love their fresh steam lobster. It was boiled by sea water, so is the Cobb. The lobster is well seasoned and tastes great. Cobb is fresh too. With butter, the taste is even better. However, clam chowder is not that great. Even though clam is fresh, the cheese and butter is light. Price: overcharged for sure. A small cup of chowder is 7 dollars and it doesn’t taste that good. Every side — butter, vinegar, lemon etc — charges .8 each. Cobb is 1.95… So crazily charged. I think the most worthy thing to eat here is steam lobster. Others, a NO! Service: no service. Help yourself and be a real chair competitor to grab seat cuz many people load here Overall: a 4 for the huge lobster

I first ate here in the 1980’s. Most recently, I took my wife here in July 2014. They’re run by the very same family. Not inexpensive, but oh so worth it. This is the authentic lobster pound experience. You choose your meal and its bagged and cooked. They have local beers, and truly amazing blueberry pie. No trip to Bar Harbor would be complete without eating dinner here on the way out to Mt, Desert.

We had limited time in Acadia and made this our only stop for lobsters. It’s about a 15 minute drive from Acadia and is right off the side of the road. There is a small indoor seating area and some picnic tables under a canopy outside. We ordered at the counter and sat outside to wait for our number to be called. The mussels came out almost immediately and were regrettably small and dry. The lobsters came out after about 20 minutes and were steamed perfectly and absolutely delicious. They were also reasonably priced at about 11 dollars per pound. Other things to note: Parking is very limited. There are steep charges for everything extra(80 cents for a small scoop of melted butter). Closes early(7:30) so plan on an early dinner, and also closed on Sundays.
