They seem to have fixed their problems with the wait staff. The current servers are personable and knowledgeable. My only gripe is now the kitchen is inconsistent. I’ve heard that the head chef splits his time between the two restaurants. If he is there the food is good, otherwise it could suffer. I’m not sure if that is what I have experienced, but I have experienced inconsistencies. The great news is that there is always Groupon or similar coupons out there for Spice Kitchen, so you can really get a good meal for a great bargain!

We happened to visit this restaurant by accident! And my-oh-my wasn’t I surprised!!! The décor appealed to me majorly coz I am a huge collector of Buddha idols! ;-) Coming to the food… I was quite apprehensive about the food, so my husband and I decided to pick some safe options… We had the Masala Soda, Mango lassi, Chicken 65, Chicken biriyani, Kerala Pepper chicken gravy and Garlic Nan… The mango lassi was simply delicious! 5 stars for the lassi… However the masala soda was a disappointment… They use coke or pepsi and add very little chat masala and that’s supposed to be masala soda! That’s silly!!! Chicken 65 was very different but really good! Chicken biriyani was decent… Kerala pepper chicken gravy was amazing!!! Garlic nan wasn’t the best we’ve had… It wasn’t as soft as a good garlic nan should be… but it wasn’t bad! We’d love to visit this restaurant again if we’re around that area again!

I went to lunch buffet last weekend with my friends. Food has chana and bhature which were cold. They brought naan on table and when asked to warm it again the waitress was relunctant to do that. They had chacha bhatura, idli, wada, pakora and sambhar in snacks .out of which only pakoras were good. They had paneer kali mirch, pasta, dal, jeera rice and dum aloo in main course Rice was hard. Either not cooked properly or over fried with jeera which made it hard. In dessert they had gulab jamun and kheer. Both were okay. not bad Over all buffet was really okay.

Their naan and buffet was great. We went there to celebrate a birthday on a Sunday afternoon. The only disappointment was the extra Lamb Vindaloo we ordered. It was tough and over cooked. Go for their buffet but don’t order extra lamb.

I’ve started to get the hang of Indian food as I’ve visited almost a half dozen places in the norristown area now. They all seems to me to be relatively similar to each other in that a basic entrée is about $ 15, they are all byos, the menus are very similar and they are owner operated with a leisurely serving pace. That being said I’ve learned to get into a routine going with a curry of some sort. This one had a particular Delhi chicken curry that I couldn’t differentiate from a normal chicken curry. I got it extra spicy… Indian spicy and it wasn’t over the top. My friend got a lamb dish that was excellent and we both split the appetizer sampler. Looking back I think we could have skipped it because it only included one samosa and the other pieces on there were fried veggies with no Indian spice representation.

I have tried here buffet for over 5 times and all the times its okay in taste, flavor, and presentation. Spice kitchen has good interiors and attracts lot of non Indians who want spice levels to be low. For a typical desi this would be okay place for buffet with low to medium spice levels, veg curries are good, chicken can better, biryani is okay overall some people might like it and some people don’t. For me it lacks the taste, spice levels, and punch that I’m fond of so I would pass on this. I have not yet tried at Spice kitchen at Lansdale yet. It can be seen that Spice kitchen owners give a lot of attention to ambiance, waiters(all non indians), and cleanliness but food is average. This is not the typical desi restaurant, this has its own style statement. «Spice kitchen lacks spice but try once and decide for yourself»

An updated review is needed due to the exemplary experience I had at Spice Kitchen over the weekend. We ordered takeout and our food was not quite ready when we arrived. The hostess was very apologetic, but we didn’t have time to wait. It wasn’t her fault, anyway, but the sentiment was appreciated. Words cannot describe how delicious the spicy chicken tikka masala that I ordered was. I don’t have the intellectual capacity. It was a thinner, darker sauce than I was used to, with just the right amount of meat and piquant. The paneer kulcha I ordered was as disappointing as I’ve ever had it at any Indian place, however. I’ve concluded that this is my fault, not the dish’s or the restaurant’s. I expect something akin to Domino’s Cheesy Bread, but it’s just not how Indian bread is made. I’ll stick to samosas in the future. Spice Kitchen kicked up the customer service a notch when we forgot some condiments and a waiter broke the land speed record chasing us across the parking lot with them. Well played. I’m also pleased to note that when I perused the takeout menu I picked up there I noticed that they had significantly lowered their prices. They are now the cheapest and best Indian restaurant in the area. This cements them as my Indian place of choice, and thus this five star review.

This place has changed for the better. There is a new waitress named Jahnna, who is wonderful. The manager remembers you. They really wait on you hand and foot. I went for the first time in years to their lunch buffet. Excellent! Although the sweets were too sweet and there were some dishes too spicy, this is to be expected. They will make to taste though. There are so many great dishes to choose from, that you can find wonderful things to eat. The ambiance is so lovely there. They also bring Naan to table, a nice touch. Wish they had more chutney choices, UNSWEETENED Chai and not-too-sweet desserts. One Buffet I attended in CA had a soft serve Mango Ice Cream. I would LOVE it if they would get this! Their Orange Kulfi dessert is fun.

I’ve been a regular at Spice Kitchen since they opened a few years ago and mostly do take out. It used to my one of my favorite Indian restaurants. The food was tasty, always prepared as asked for and the quantity was very good. But in the past 2 months the quality of the food has deteriorated and the quantity is now half of what I used to get before. Some of the reviewers here mentioned that the food is prepared at the Norristown location and then sent to the other two locations, that explains why the quantity in my take out order has reduced by half, as I mostly get the most popular items on the menu that they would probably run out of fast, so they give you less of it, but that is not my problem, I would like to get what I’m paying for. 3 weeks ago it happened for the first time, I noticed this but thought it might just be a one off thing, but I went there again this week and same thing. The quality of food has definitely changed probably because they are just re-heating the food and I’m very disappointed with the quantity. The owners need to make a note of this, I’m going to give this place one more shot in a few weeks, if I’m not happy then I’ll be back with a review and take my business elsewhere!

One of the worst restaurants so far. First time we went there we were treated very nicely. Served food pretty quickly, Quantity was good, Accepted all the groupon coupons we have without any question, we felt really good. every thing was perfect, one of the person came to our table, inquired about the food and asked us to write a review on Unilocal if we liked it. We did liked that day so wrote a good review about the restaurant… It was only after a week we went in there again, we ordered starters and it took almost .5 hrs for him to get them, not only this main course took even more time to be served, Quantity was reduced and so was the hospitality. That was not it. we presented same number of groupon coupons to the this time also but they said the policy has changed and they can accept only 1 coupon per table. we asked them to call the manager and the manager was hiding in the kitchen and not showing up at all. it was the same guy who asked us to write a review last time we have been there, after 15 min he came to us and told they can’t accept coupons until we pay a tip of 20% per coupon. That was the time we decided never to go to that restaurant again. once their work is done they just change. There was a 360 degree change in the behavior of the person.

This one of the best Indian restaurants in the area! Every time i’ve been here I try something new. One word«fabulous! » Try the tangy eggplant appetizer-very tasty!!! Ina makes awesome mocktails. Try her specialties!!! The Cuisine is different then most Indian Restaurants that I have tried. There are the usual, dishes found in most Indian Restaurants, however, there are some truly exotic, very tasty dishes that I have not seen elsewhere. I heard that they opened another restaurant in Lansdale. Next time I am in that area, I will be sure to try that one too!

Hmm. I never thought I would give this rating. I guess all the glitz and glam have gone down, since the opening. I went once again to try their buffet. It was very average, including the customer service. The food was OK. And I had to ask multiple times for water refills. I guess it lost its charm.

I found this restaurant very interesting. There are too many awesome places in strip malls and the like to be turned away from them by look alone now. But it was still surprising to walk into this place and see the inside: beautiful red walls, white drapery(see for yourself in photos). Made the place feel elegant and romantic. The service was just average, but I think one or two of them might have been new. Everyone was very nice, but a little awkward in timing and approach. Didn’t really affect the experience though. We had everything we could have needed, and didn’t have to wait very long for anything Food was great. The menu was on the large side, and prices were similar to other indian restaurants in the area(13ish for chicken, 17ish for goat/lamb/seafood, 12/13ish for veggie). Paneer is my fave, and I was pleasantly surprised that most of the veggie options were paneer dishes that you don’t see at every restaurant. I realize this is not for everyone, but was awesome for me! I ordered Paneer Butter Masala, which was a super rich dish. I really liked it, but it did make my tummy ache afterwards(which I should have expected given that the word butter is right in the title). My man ordered the chicken saag, and we both really liked it. Not gonna lie, I preferred his dish to mine! The saag was awesome, nicely spicy as he ordered it medium. Both of our dishes were plentiful, and I loved that our waiter kept offering to refill our rice, gratis. My favorite part of the meal might have been the garlic naan though! It’s the smallest naan I’ve ever ordered, but it was SO delicious. Fluffy and slightly crispy, it was so full of flavor. Definitely have to get that again. You can often find a deal on Groupon, etc. But they also have a Tues-Thurs 2 for 25 deal. App, 2 entrees, and plain naan off a fairly limited menu but it has plenty of good options.

I went to Spice Kitchen just once, and I probably will not be returning. I have to say, this has nothing to do with the food. The food was pretty good, and it is one of the only Indian restaurants around the Collegeville area. As a vegetarian, the menu selection was a little underwhelming, and not what I am used to at most Indian restaurants. Most of the vegetarian dishes were paneer, which is not my favorite. I ordered the Methi Malai Mutter. It was good, but when the waiter asked me how spicy I wanted it, I said medium and it was not spicy at all. I also heard a man at a table nearby complaining that his food wasn’t spicy enough either. The absolute worst part of my experience here was the service. Our waiter, Martin, barely came to our table and at some points it seemed like he was physically trying to avoid us. He clearly wasn’t an experienced waiter because when he would come to refill our water glasses he would reach over the entire table and we would have to move for him. When we were finished eating, it took about 15 minutes for our waiter to come ask if we needed boxes and wanted the check. It then took another 15 minutes for our check to be taken. After our waiter kept ignoring us, one of my friends tried to hand him the check and he said, «Not now.» Eventually the hostess took our check, and it took her probably 10 more minutes to get it back to us. Meanwhile, other people were being waited on and able to leave. What should have been a nice, pleasant meal turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. I recommend if you’re going to go here to specifically make sure you’re not stuck with Martin. The other waiter seemed to be doing a fine job.

For a small strip-mall restaurant they do Indian food very well. A nice find, recommended by Indian friends. We’ve been back a few times, so it’s worth trying.

Located in a strip mall off Trooper, this establishment isn’t much to look at, inside or out. On the plus side, they’ve put a few tables out front with umbrellas, on the negative, WTF is with the fly paper contraption(which is clearly working overtime) hanging in the front window? Anyway, a biz associate and I stopped by for lunch. For $ 12 bucks the buffet was a good deal. The dishes focused on chicken, no lamb here, but what do you expect for that price? I’m sure the items change from day to day but I liked the chicken makhani most, large pieces of white meat, tasty sauce. The rice was good and there were a dozen other items including soup, salad, daal, chicken tandoori(not the greatest I’ve had), etc. And it’s AYCE; I had 3 full plates. You will leave full. And sweating, it’s moderately spicy. Generally I find Indian food difficult to assess. I just don’t have the experience, but if it tastes good, I can tell and this was good, not great. And it’s all basically stews, right? How tough can that be? But I think the range of spices used isn’t cheap. It was busy the day I went and almost every patron was Indian or from that region, so… Service was good, recommended for a quick, cheap, good lunch.

If you are looking for some Northern Indian cuisine(tandoori, gravy based dishes, etc) in the Eagleville area, look no further. The service is friendly and the best part is that they serve fresh Naan at your table. I love their garlic Naan. The tandoori jumbo shrimp is delicious as is their goat curry, chicken makhani and kheer(rice pudding). The Dosa Hut about ½ mile away is my primarily location for south Indian food and Spice Kitchen is now my choice for Northern Indian food.

Heard about this place from a few of my friends who said it was good. I gave it a try to see what they had to offer and my experience there is forgettable. Went at 1 Pm(peak lunch time) on a Sunday for buffet. The tandoori pieces were cold(room temperature). I found a 1.5 inch hair in the pakora. The starters gave me an indication of this place. Except a couple of dishes all others were not worth trying. I went there for the first time and unfortunately it was my last time. The place was not even half full during my 30 mins of stay there.
