Great food, great service from a fantastic family. You would never figure you would find authentic accents of the NJ or NY area in Davidson. I have not traveled to the market for over 3 years but remembered Pellegrino’s and went out of my way– time well spent Grilled chicken salad(on diet) was fantastic. Calzones, pizza pie, everything– great

I have been going to Pellegrinos since I moved to Troutman from Massachusetts. The owners are great people and the food is always very good. I highly recommend stopping by anytime. You will not be disappointed you did.

So I have heard awesome things about this place for years and finally drove up from Mooresville to try it out. Well first the pizza was very good but the guy making the pizza(probably the owner) was extremely rude and when I asked a simple question about one of their ingredients he was very nasty about it then turned toward other customers who seemed to be his friends and belittle me and then proceeded to say to that next I will be asking for homemade mozzarella from next door!!! I could not believe this and I should have just walked out!!! Such bad customer service!!! Definitely could tell he was not from NC! Great pizza, bad service.

We have heard so many good things about Pellegrinos so I was looking forward to eating there. We weren’t in the mood for pizza so ordered other items and that may have been the problem. I don’t know if they were understaffed or if this is typical but we sat at our table for 10 minutes before anyone came by, and that was to drop off the oil for dipping bread. After another 5 minutes our waitress came by and took our order – we gave drink and food at the same time since we’d be waiting so long. Bread came out a few minutes later. The rest of the service was a little more prompt. The house side salad was good, although the house dressing was not as good as I’ve had at other Italian restaurants. My daughter ordered chicken Caesar salad, but the chicken was so salty that she could only eat a few bites. My other daughter ordered the tortellini Alfredo which was very good. My husband had penne ala vodka with grilled chicken. The dish contained peas and large pieces of tomato and was unlike any vodka sauce he’s ever had(and he travels a fair amount for business to NY and has had good vodka sauce as a basis for comparison). The grilled chicken in his entrée was also extremely salty. I ordered chicken pappagallo. The vodka sauce for this dish was what I would expect for a vodka sauce. Overall my entrée was good but was also over salted. The small bowl of pasta that came on the side was over cooked, not al dente. The pizza looked good, so we may return and give the pizza a try, but we won’t be trying any of the other menu items.

This«out of the way» place in Troutman serves up some very authentic N Italian fare. The Bolegnese is especially good and pizza is a winner too.

Steven took great care of us. We had 3 recommend Entrées, one lasagna and two pasta dishes that were outstanding. A great bottle of wine & bread with oil was bonus. This place is so worth the long drive up from Fort Mill, SC. A complementary item for checking in with n Unilocal didn’t hurt too. Can’t wait to come back or open our own franchise in South Charlotte.(Smile)

After a coworker raved and reading good reviews I went. I got there about 5:45 and 3 people were eating. It was going ok until we got our food & the waiter never came back. Apparently a table of 8 and 2 other 2 person tables was too much for the 2 waiters and owner/manager to handle. I literally sat there with 25% of melted coke water in my glass which I had pushed to the edge of the table for 30 minutes for a refill/to get my check & a box. I actually contemplated just leaving or going to the register and saying I needed to pay. No one would ever make eye contact and I’m not a loud person who yells or makes a scene but I was about to. We were finally noticed when I moved to the end of the booth turned to stare them down & stand up to go into the server area. Good thing I didn’t want a to go cup, no tip, and I wont be back. I was there for about an hour and 10 – 15 minutes. Expensive too for a fish special, a wrap, 1 water &1 coke=$ 35?

Just ordered a large cheese pie and ate most of it driving home! The sauce was tremendous– I’m a cheese guy so the pie could have more cheese please. I will be returning and enjoying their other menu items this weekend! Great food, great owner and great cannoli!!!

Pellegrino’s is really good food. The Pomodoro di Bosco is a really good entrée. They usually have decent seafood which is another plus. The service is far and away the best of nay dinner restaurant in Troutman, which admittedly is a small feat considering the number of establishments. They deserve four stars easy but they refuse absolutely to acknowledge the fact that people in the area want craft beer. It’s not that hard to ask the beer rep to bring some in with the macro beers. If they think good beer is not Italian enough they should probably take all the French wine off the menu to,

Deepest dish pizza I’ve ever ate. Wonderful flavor and truly a Chicago type pizza if you order deep dish. I highly recommend it.

We love everything they have here. Coming from a family that ran a pizza restaurant in the 1950s era in New York, I can attest to the fact that their pizza is brick oven New York style pizza. The Mozzarella Di Giancarlo is Two slices of fresh mozzarella stuffed with prosciutto and roasted peppers, lightly breaded with Pablo breadcrumbs, and pan-seared with olive oil, served over baby greens topped with a balsamic reduction. Soooo good. Sometimes they have fresh pasta too. The Tomato bacon pizza is delish!

Best Calzone ever! My family and I had the large 3 meat with ham, sausage, and pepperoni Ricotta, and Mozzarella with the sauce on the side. Delish! I couldn’t eat it all in one setting. We also ordered 2 large pizzas one of which i ordered double pepperoni and the other pepperoni and sausage. Both were excellent!

As much as I would like to support my Yankee brethren from NJ running this single unit restaurant in-the-middle-of-freakin’-nowhere NC, after 3 tries, I won’t anymore. First of all, I grew up on Italian food so good, it made mobsters cry. Pellegrino’s doesn’t measure up to the executions of «Little Bobby» of NYC, or many of the restaurants in the North End/Italian neighborhood of my hometown, Boston. This was food so good, you’d slap your Italian mother, apologize immediately, and then go beat yourself with her broom. Monday night, we waited nearly 15 minutes after being seated to be offered glasses of water, wine, or an opportunity to «go screw ourselves»; none such offers ever came because NOONEEVERCAME to our table. At 7:50 We arrived and were seated as requested in a booth. The young, dirty blonde with a loose bun gave us menus and said, «I don’t think I’m your waitress, but I’ll check.» Who could be our server? Over the course of 13 minutes, she was the only server we ever saw. At 7:55 We sat patiently. Waiting. Waiting for dirty– blonde-bun to return, or another waitress to greet us. At 8:00 We were 1 of 4 customers in the restaurant. Every table except ours had been waited. Oversights happen. We understand, but this was unforgivable. Pellegrino’s wasn’t busy. 2 of the 4 tables had already received their food when we arrived. The 3rd table, which was behind ours, had paid their bill and the bus boy was clearing it with assistance from dirty-blonde-bun. Our first time here we came with regulars who raved about the place, the service was good but our meals were average. The second time our meal, which may have been good was overshadowed by the poor service we received from dirty-blonde-bun. At 8:01 My beau looked at me and asked, «Are you ready?» «Yes. Where would you like to go?» I asked. By 8:02 I picked up the iPhone and began searching for nearby restaurants.(We’re new here). While seated, I found and called Mezzaluna II in downtown Statesville asking for their closing time. The accented man replied, «What time do you want to come in?» «In 20 min,» I responded. «We’ll wait for you,» he said pleasantly. At the closing of that conversation, we got up, walked out without being noticed and drove to Mezzaluna, which is a short drive away on the same road. My regret is that we didn’t patronize them sooner. The food and the service was such a stark contrast to our combined experiences at Pellegrino’s. They executed the craft of combining good food, great service, and cleanliness without knowing any of our Pellegrino’s experiences AND they did it for less. We wish Pellegrino’s well. They would do better if they read the customer feedback and implemented changes. Most of their 1 to 4 star reviews are due to poor customer service. I wonder how many of their customers have had the misfortune of having dirty-blonde-bun for their server? Oh well. She is Pellegrino’s problem. So on Monday after giving them 3 tries, they lost us. Mezzaluna EARNED our business and after a few more similar visits, we will begin recommending them to everyone we know.

This place has always served us great food. The ingredients are fresh and everything I have tried so far has been delicious. Unfortunately, this place is quite pricey; so it’s an every now and then kind of deal, but I do look forward to it when we go.

I really like Pellegrinos. We’ve made large buffet orders from them for company events a few times and their food is amazing. I honestly would pick them over most other big name Italian places out there. And quite frankly it’s evident that lots of the folks from the Troutman and Statesville areas seem to know the place well and love it. Portion sizes are great to. The lasagna, pastas and even salads are not to be missed. Surprisingly to me even the large shrimp I got with my salad were great. Most other Italian places will really neglect the shrimp in a scampi or shrimp alfredo dish. I’ll agree that service was lacking and slow when at the restaurant. We had to remind them to bring us our water and they brought out our food at different times.(Not sure if this is typical for true Italians because I know it is for Japanese.) But the restaurant is big, has great deco and layout and is worth going back again — I’m sure I will.
