Unprofessional staff. I’m officially done with this place. Receptionist did not relay message about services requested until 30 mins before my appt(made 2 days in advance). Then the stylist spoke so loud why she wouldn’t do my hair that some of the staff and customers were glaring and listening while I was being lectured about my hair. I had to sit there while she tugged at chunks of my hair saying she couldn’t do anything at this time. It wasn’t until I commented to her about a customer who wouldn’t mind their own business that she decided to lower her voice. All this could’ve been avoided if I received a call in advance so I didn’t waste my Saturday morning, or was spoken to discretely. Also, stylist admitted to making my hair worse by hi lighting already damaged hair at a previous appt when trying to «color correct» it. This caused me to have to chop off inches of my hair. Completely inappropriate.

Excellent atmosphere, very helpful service. Extremely friendly hair dresser that did an amazing job cutting my hair(male). Prices were very reasonable, overall there place looked very nice inside and clearly is too upscale for the neighborhood. I would recommend and return for sure.

This review is for the new branch in Slingerlands that opened a few months ago. I was very pleased with the service here and I’m definitely going to go back. I have really curly hair and a lot of hair dressers don’t know what to do with it. Often I’ll ask for something short and sassy the stylists will just give me a very minimal trim — probably worried that I’ll freak out if they cut too much off and it bounces way up. When I went to Ando, I was paired up with a very nice stylist named Paula. I’m not one for small talk usually when it comes to having my hair done, but I genuinely loved this gal and ended up chatting with her nonstop throughout my visit. What’s more, she did a fantastic job on my hair. I wanted a shorter, layered bob with bangs and she did exactly what I asked, taking her time and taking my hair texture into account. She wasn’t scared of the curl and even suggested maybe doing some color the next time around. It cost about $ 35 for the cut, which I thought was fair and comparable to other quality hair salons in the Capital Region. I’ll return when I need another cut, but it’s been a few months and my haircut grew out so nicely that I haven’t even felt the need to get it styled again yet! Ha. ;o)

I think I have finally found my regular salon. After reading positive online reviews, I booked an evening(7:30pm) appointment at Ando. I called about a week in advance and had no problem getting the appointment. Ando is in the Price Chopper shopping plaza directly across from the Joe Bruno stadium in Troy(so there is ample parking). The salon itself is simple and clean. Although it is in a shopping plaza, you get the feeling that it is still a higher-end salon. My hair stylist, Liz, was very sweet. She asked me what kind of style I wanted and throughout the cut asked about the way I style and maintain my hair. She was very friendly and bubbly and kept a conversation going throughout the cut. Although I only got a simple trim, I do like my haircut and I appreciate that she listened to my wishes about the length. I also liked that she asked whether I wanted hairspray or product in my hair after she finished drying it. I feel that most places that I have been to automatically put in some kind of crème, spray, or hair polish and I never want it(would make my hair greasy). The basic haircut included the blow out and(without tip) it was $ 25. I feel this is a reasonable price for this salon. I will absolutely be returning for my next haircut!

DONOTGETYOURNAILSDONEHERE! I would rate this zero stars if I could. Not only was she totally unprofessional, she didn’t book enough time for my manicure and then told me I had to reschedule to come back at another time. I left there after an hour with nothing done! WHAT A JOKE…

Natasha is the absolute best at nails! The selection of colors isn’t super impressive but the quality makes up for it. It’s the best looking Shellac manicure I’ve had– she took the time to make it completely perfect.

I had a very enjoyable manicure and pedicure today with a Groupon. My technician Natasha took a long time explaining the pros and cons of Shellac to me and helped me make an educated decision. I love the outcome — my nails are exactly the shape and length that I like. I also told her I was getting ready for my wedding in a couple of months and she wrote down a few similar shades for me to test on my nails. The section of the salon for mani/pedis is very small with less colors than I would have liked, but Natasha more than made up for it, and I’m very happy with my nails.

I was pretty pleased with this place today when I dropped in to see if they took walk-ins(obviously they do). My first thought walking through the door was that this did not look like a typical strip mall salon. it was very bright, well decorated, with comfy waiting chairs and a cool trendy vibe. I also figured this would mean an expensive cut. I waited less than 5 minutes despite not having an appointment, before Stephanie came and whisked me away to a sink to wash my hair. She was not extraordinarily chatty(which I care for, I don’t want to chit chat, but I know some people do), but she was friendly and professional. I showed her a photo of what I wanted and she wasn’t above telling me that perhaps a few longer layers and shorter bangs would highlight my face better, and then she went to work. They were not very busy while I was there, only one other person who was directly next to me, the hair dressers preceded to complain about a woman next door, but otherwise I liked the experience. A wash, cut, and blow dry was $ 22 and I tipped well. I will be going back!

Prior to going to Tony it seemed that I would go through a new hairdresser every 1 – 2 years. I found that at first they did my hair awesome, but after that short period they’d get into a slump and wouldn’t do my hair right so I’d have to find someone else. That said, I have been going to Tony for about 8 – 9 years now! He is GREAT! As a business owner, Tony ‘gets it’. He knows everyone has a choice and appreciates that you choose Ando and will do anything in his power to keep you happy! They do accept walk ins however Tony is ALWAYS booked well in advance so if you want an appointment with him, call ahead.

I had gone here for a very very long time, and only have recently stopped going here because my hairdresser has moved to a different location. The owner, Tony, is amazing. He is always booked, and always doing a great job. He has such great relationships with his clients, and everyone, whether his client or not, adores him. Over the years that I have gone there, I have seen a lot of the hairdressers there, some better than others. I have had my share of good and bad experiences here, definitely more good than bad though. One particularly good experience I had was when I had called for an appointment 2 weeks before for a school dance, I was told I had an appointment on the Thursday that I requested it. Well when I went in that Thursday I was told my appointment was made for Tuesday, even though I had confirmed it with the girl when I made the appointment and she assured me with the day and date that it was the Thursday appointment. Well needless to say, I was a bit saddened and angry about this because now I did not have an appointment for my last high school dance. One of the hairdressers wanted to see what happened, and when the girl explained that she had marked down the wrong appointment time, the hairdresser said that since it was their fault they couldn’t let me go without getting the appointment I was supposed to have. Now this salon is very close to where I went to high school, and they had many other girls coming in for up-dos and things of that nature, and I so very much appreciated that she took me, in between trying to do 3 other appointments, and between all the workers, they got it done, and I loved the way she did my hair! Then there are some of the bad experiences, which really all add up to one problem — they are very gossipy there. Not Tony, and many of the other hairdressers that have been there for years, but some of the younger, newer ones, and the occasionally older employee. Now its a salon, and its a close space, and being that I work in a close space myself, I know it can be like that. Talking about your co-workers, whatever, I can get over that, we all need to vent. But the problem is when you hear the employees talking about customers. Now I’m sure we all do this at our own jobs, but the problem here is that customers can hear them talking badly about other customers. Sure, complain to your co-workers, but do it in private, because it reflects very poorly on the business when you wonder what they said about you once you’ve left the salon. It also reflects badly on Tony, who has worked so hard to make the salon everything it is. I would recommend Ando’s, but I would recommend that you try and get an appointment with him, or Rae Beth. Many of the others I would have recommended have opened their own businesses, or moved to another salon. Tony is excellent though, and while I never saw him myself, I can speak highly of his work, and his work ethic.
