What a surprise! Just an excellent BBQAND steak restaurant. I had ribs, no sauce required thank you. Beans and slaw were well above average. Wife had a special Ribeye that wasn’t cheap($ 24) but was massive and magnificent. Charred, seared and full of flavor. The definition of medium rare, even though it looks burnt. Saw them send out several burnt end sandwiches that almost made me get one to go for lunch tomorrow. We will be back for those, brisket, pulled pork, prime rib, etc.

This is exactly why I love Unilocal. Was traveling this week looking for some chow after a long day. I searched the Troy area for a place and ran across Big Sticky’s. Thought I would give it a try. I’m GLAD I did. This place is kind of a hole in the wall local restaurant downtown Troy with a rustic décor. There are picnic tables, and some small tables too. A big chalkboard shows some of their offering, but they handed me a menu after a smile and a welcome. You order as you come in at the counter, and they bring you your food. I looked their offering of ribs, pulled pork, pork steak and others. Since I love pork steak, I decided to go for the«Big ‘Un». A large cut of pork steak and had cheesy taters with cole slaw for my sides.(The beer is ICECOLD too) Pork steak is traditionally fatty and does not have a lot of meat. The«Big ‘Un» was smoked to perfection and there was hardly any fat on the cut. It was absolutely delicious! I cut it with my fork. The taters and slaw were very good also. AND, I’m sorry to announce, I could not finish it! All I can say is they are doing it right at Big Sticky’s. The staff was very friendly and thanked me for coming in. That’s what I love about the local restaurants — they appreciate your business! Unilocalers, if you are around the Troy area, make it a point to stop there. You will not be disappointed.

Ribs were just average. Still clinging to the bone and not all that tender. I’ve made better ribs at home on my gas grill.

Really good food. I got the BBQ salad with house dressing(AWESOME) and brisket. Salad mix was green and crispy and loaded with fresh veggies, cheese and croutons. Baked beans were tasty. Husband got half rack of ribs and said they were great. We’ll come back for sure!

Had the 16oz prime rib special with roasted red potatoes and coleslaw first let me tell you if that was 16oz omg it looked like 32oz the potatoes were very good cooked perfectly the coleslaw had a unique taste that was very pleasantly unexpected great job on that I have only 2 small issues 1. When eating prime rib it is usually served with some juice so all though it’s flavor was fantastic it was just a little on the dry side 2. Was the price it was very good but my meal and tea $ 30.00 if you are going to charge that much everything better be spot on the worker’s that were there took very good care of me Tim my waiter never let my glass go dry but for them 2 reasons I can only give 4 stars but will definitely be back. …

Best restaurant in Troy by a long shot, and maybe the best in three counties. Very casual dining with a more than adequate waitstaff. Order at the bar, pay for your choices and take a seat. Their payment software will give you an option to tip before your meal, which I found a little pushy, but you can skip the pre-tip and take care of your server after your meal if you like. All the BBQ meats are exceptional! Ribeye and strip steaks on Fri and Sat starting at 4pm are outstanding! Get there early. Best Reuben sandwich on the planet!

Fantastic! Had the Sausage Fatty sandwich, which is pork sausage patties, stuffed with cheese, and wrapped in bacon. So good. For sides I had the cheesy taters which were delicious and the coleslaw which is some of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place! Service was great, food came out really quick. Absolutely no complaints.

Best ribs I have ever had. Mouth watering. They make you pay extra for extra sauce. For the cost of the ribs it should be thrown in. Great atmosphere. I would give them five stars if they didn’t charge extra for the sauce.

Would really like to recommend people to NOT give any business to this establishment! Not only was my food not very good but it was cold cause I had to wait for the owner to chew his employees ass right in front of me. Sorry sir but couldn’t your scolding wait??? It wasn’t the first time I had been here and witnessed this! I thought first time was just a bad day but the second time I’m beginning to think this is the way this man operates business and how he treats his employees! That is uncalled for and ridiculous! The owner himself is vulgar, has poor body hygiene, his clothes(bibs) were filthy! It had Just made me question if he looks like this what kind of environment is my food being made in! He really needs to be shut down for the way he treats his employees and needs a good olé ass whooping for the way he thinks it is ok to treat people! Oh and to top it off my food was raw and nasty! Had the worst stomach cramps and bowel problems ever when I left this place! Guess the shitty way he tends his establishment is contagious to my bowels!

The very best pork we have had that we haven’t smoked ourselves! Very friendly staff. The Pork & Shine sandwich is absolute perfection. If you order the thick pork steak make sure you are hungry — it is a very generous portion reminiscent of a pot roast.

I use to eat here all the time until one time I found a hair in my chili cheese dog. I went to big sticky himself and he was rude and called me a liar. He was mean to my six year old son and told me he rather me not eat there instead of refunding my money for the hair dog or offering me a new one. Then one of his associates started to harass me on Facebook and threaten to hurt me while I was 7 mo this pregnant be user I left a negative review on his Facebook page.

Wasn’t really impressed with this place it was good but not so good to drive the extra 20mins out of the way for me to go there. They did have a steak special Fri nite I went and that was alright but the cheese potatoes were cold to luke warm anf my wife makes sonething similar to this and its alot better in my opinion and the mac n cheese was basically just velveta cheese and noodles. There Cole slaw was just cabbage with mayo and sugar just alil to basic for me. But there pork steak was good and huge and the brisket was decent as well

Great bbq! Small, and casual. Perfect for a fast meal that is so mich better than fast food. Wood picnic tables you can write on make it fun to read messages and leave your own. Food was delicious and had generous servings.

Anytime I get directions that include statements like«keep going until you see the Dodge pickup parked backwards» I know that I am heading for a great local place. This time was no exception… This guy used to sell bbq from a stand in the parking lot of a local grocery store. I had heard great things about it but never managed to catch them when they were open. Now that they are in a permanent space I am guessing it will be far easier to get hold of their smoky goodness when I find myself in Troy. I had a half slab and a side of beans. The beans were good but slightly more spicy than I expected. Not that spicy is a problem, just that it was unexpected. The ribs were really, really good! Very meaty and tender with a rub that included a taste I couldn’t quite put my finger on and the waitress wouldn’t divulge. Maybe it will be more apparent to me on my next visit. One can only hope… This may seem odd but it was actually their sweet & hot bbq sauce that stole the show. Thick, smoky, full of flavor and slightly spicy. If they’ll start bottling it I’ll start buying it!

–The BBQ was phenomenal. Great flavor and big portions. –The pulled pork was light and lean, with a pork flavor as opposed to a heavy smokey flavor. –The«Big Un» pork steak was enormous. It was done but not over done, it had a good smokey flavor. –The beef brisket had everything you could ask for. It had a great flavor and huge portion. –The baked beans are a very unique flavor. Really good, but closer to a chili flavor as opposed to a baked bean flavor. –The cheesy taters were very good. Very similar to a cheesy potato casserole. –They only have 2 sauces, hot and mild. Both are very similar they have a sweet taste and great flavor when mixed with the meats.

We were coming back from being out of town and stopped here in Troy for lunch. Instead of fast food we decided to try Big Sticky’s, great decision of the month. Newer interior, with an older building. Park around back. We both had the ribs and pulled pork combo plates. The pulled pork is different, and really good. St. Louis ribs were smoked, and the meat came right off the bone. Excellent ribs! The baked beans have baked apples in them, unique, and tasty. I did not give them 5 stars because this is not a 5 star restaurant. But if you want a home style BBQ meal, look no further. E.

This is by far the best place to eat in Troy and the surrounding area, including Wentzville. The new store is open, and it’s good to have him back. I won’t bother with an in depth review, I mean, it’s barbecue. I would say his brisket is on par with Pappy’s Smokehouse and Bogarts. I’ve sampled most everything on the menu, and it’s all good. His BBQ baked beans are the best I’ve ever tasted. He puts a surprising but delicious special ingredient in them: apple pie filling. They are not too sweet yet pleasantly tangy. The cheesy potatoes are yummy, too. He’s added BBQ nachos and a BBQ salad to the menu. The BBQ nachos are a tasty change of pace. They feature pulled chicken or pork and the baked beans along with the standard cheese sauce, sour cream and jalapenos. I agree that the BBQ sauce is not to my taste, but I generally get brisket, and I prefer hot sauce on that anyway. A note about the service: Look, this is the kind of place where you just have to make peace with the fact that Big Sticky’s strength is as a pitmaster, not a maitre-d’. He’s not rude, but he’s not super friendly. I’ve come to accept this. His sister is often behind the counter and she is super sweet and very friendly. Unfortunately, the other staff he has added since opening the new location are not exactly seasoned industry veterans, but I try not to sweat it. I go there for BBQ. I get in, I get out, and I’m fine with that. They sometimes run out of things. While this is annoying when it’s your favorite item, it’s really a sign of quality. Get there early and try to have a back up plan. This is the kind of business we should be supporting. The lack of polish is more than made up for by the high quality of the product. This is a local boy doin’ good. Anyone put off by brusque service would do themselves a favor to give it another shot. If you are in the St. Charles county area, it’s worth a drive to Troy to give Big Sticky’s a try. If you live in Troy and aren’t eating here, then you just don’t like BBQ.
