Horrible service! I signed up for my wife and I to split a package for the month which we have done before.(2 weeks each) The girl said we couldn’t do that but could go on altering days. I asked her 3x are you sure they won’t give my wife a hard time and she said yes. 5 days later the owner is scolding my wife because the«new girls» don’t know what their doing. Very unprofessional and not my problem but yours. 2 different visits the radio was broke. Both times I let the girl know and she laughed as if not to care. I even asked her on the second visit if that was the one with the broken radio and she said NO. Wrong! Showed up on Sunday @ 12:30 and no one is here. Sign on the door says they open at 12. Clearly this owner is more interested in stuffing as much of your cash as possible into their pockets at the expense of running a functional business. Poor service, broken equipment and can’t even open on time

I picked this place because A) they had a great coupon special and B) they were pretty convenient to my house. That said, I’ve been to a few tanning salons in my day, so I’ve seen a lot – and they all seem to have different practices and policies, so it’s always a crap shoot what you’ll see at a new salon. I walked in and it had THAT smell(call me weird, but I like it). It’s your regular tanning salon lobby with a counter, a price board on the wall, a rack of lotions, and a few seats. The guy behind the counter welcomed me and answered my few questions knowledgeably. I ended up getting the Level 2 coupon special, which gives me one month unlimited access to either the VHR bed or the VHR stand up. I also opted for the coupon special of a bottle of lotion for $ 12.95(I didn’t see a price sticker on the lotion, or any tags with prices for any of the lotions, so I can only assume I got a decent deal – I know how expensive lotions CAN be). However, he did ask if I wanted a bronzer, tingle, no tingle, or accelerator. I was waiting for the paperwork to fill out, but there was none. In the past at other places, I’ve had to fill out a questionnaire on how I tan, if I burn, if I’ve tanned before, etc., along with signing a consent form. There was none of that here. All he took was my name – not even my phone number. Interesting. He just ran my credit card, told me about the time limit for beginning tanners(8 minutes max), and then told me Room 20. Um, okay. Usually they give first-timers a little tour of the place – or at the very least they walk you to the room and show you the basics. I thought maybe he didn’t think it was necessary because I had hinted that I was a seasoned tanner(though I haven’t been in years)…but I still think it would have been a nice touch. So, I asked if there was anything special I needed to know, and then he did walk with me to the room, and pointed out that the fans were manual so you had to turn them on yourself. He also pointed to the panel on the wall where you could start the machine if you were ready before your three-minute countdown was complete. I didn’t realize until after he was gone that there had been no mention of cleaning the bed vs. not cleaning the bed(I know most places clean the bed for you when you’re done, but I have been to places where you were responsible for cleaning). There was no little plastic sign saying«This bed has been sanitized…» like I’ve seen in other places… so I am assuming the bed was clean. And I only wondered because there was a bottle of cleaning spray on the table and paper towels on the wall. I’ve seen paper towels before(for use on yourself if you sweat a lot in the bed) but the bottle of spray threw me. So, I did NOT clean the bed when I left, because I assumed I would have been told if *I* needed to clean it. The bed itself was okay. I realized I had gotten spoiled at my last place(Planet Beach in North Carolina) in that the countdown timer was embedded in the bed itself at eye level so you could see it. Because I have a crappy sense of time, I like to see if I have 6 minutes or 1 minute left. I also missed the 30-seconds-remaining BEEPBEEPBEEP warning… but I guess I can live with that. What I didn’t miss was having to bring my own headphones to hear any music. Sure, they didn’t have XM in every room(like Planet Beach) but it was one less thing to deal with. So overall it was an A-OK experience. I’ll update my review and rating if anything changes over the next month.
