El Sombrero has the best Mexican food around. The homemade fresh salsa is some of the best salsa I have had! Everything is delicious here. A few of my favorites are the chicken taquitos and the chicken chimichanga. Fried ice cream is also a delicious treat for dessert. Not only is El Sombrero a delicious plus to dine but Ruben is a wonderful man to work for as well. I worked here for a few months while I was pregnant.

Hmmm, always busy! Stopped by to check it out. Service fast and friendly, food portions ample and tastey… prices reasonable! Colorful muraled walls depicting traditional Mexican life made for festive atmosphere.

Not sure what all the hype is about here. Average food. Prices are okay but this is not real Mexican food by any means. A local favorite for reasons unknown to me. I’ve tried different plates here all with the same result. Not of interest to me. Won’t be back again.

We took a party of seven. We were seated in the bar. We placed our drink order for tea and soft drinks. It was delivered relatively timely. We them placed our food order. The food was very mediocre. Overall, a most disappointing outing.

Margaritas are amazing, especially the pineapple. The Sopa de tortilla was great, the guac is perfect and garlicky, and my son gobbled up his fajitas. A friend suggested we give this place another try after some very poor for a few years ago, and we were pleased to be able to change our opinion. We have a new hangout in Troy. I highly suggest Heather as a server, she was incredibly attentive for working on a crazy Friday night!

Not too ruffle local feathers; but as I a from NY I know what real Mexican food should be and its NOT at this restaurant. I been traveling throughout Ohio the last month and this by far has been the worse Mexican food. The chips while crispy are blend, the salsa while not watery is way too sweet and not the least bit picante. WORSE is having to pay $ 1.40 for 4 tortillas, be like going to an Italian restaurant and having to pay for Italian bread. Thats the first time I have experienced this in Ohio, they pull that in Florida and I HATE it. I knew I was in trouble when I walked in and only one Latino working the front; owner not there this night(Tuesday). The one positive thing were the chicken wings they were HOT, some of that should go into the salsa! So while this place might be a nice gathering place it by no means resembles Mexican food; more like American food Mexican style. I will not return to this place. Also they do NOT except AMEX. The service was good of course speaking Spanish went a long way. As there are 2 other restaurants in the chain all I can say to the owner is: You trying to be a Mexican restaurant so increase your Latino staff; I like to order my food from someone who knows about Mexican food and that requires a Latino/Latina. One of my rules: Entering a Mexican restaurant and not seeing at least a partial Latino/a staff: Turn around and go elsewhere!

Great food reasonable pricing. Excellent wait staff and always a smiling greeting from Rueben makes the evening well worth while. Soft Chicken Chimichanga is the best. Best rice in town. Short drive north on 25 A is worth the drive.

El Sombrero has been one of my favorite spots for years. The owner is so personable and friendly and the service excellent. The food is authentic and so is the atmosphere. Some of the menu items are very unique and not available at your El Rancho Grande’s and El Toro’s. If you want good mexican food go here. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere but well worth it.

Ohh, The Hat(because that’s what El Sombrero means) — I loved this place when I was a kid, but lately I have to wonder if I’ve been remembering it wrong. They serve all the«authentic Mexican» standards: Mexican lasagna, Mexican pizza, deep fried shrimp wrapped in bacon, etc. You get a hot salsa and a mild salsa with chips before your meal, but I haven’t been able to tell the difference between the two salsas on my last few trips there. The last two times I’ve been here, my food has had absolutely no spice to it. Just grease. The refried beans are delicious, but I’d be worried if they weren’t. The Hat is «Mexican» food, watered down to cater to the residents of Miami County. If you love it, you’ve probably never had authentic Mexican food. I want to still love El Sombrero. It’s my mom’s favorite restaurant, but even she admits she goes there primarily for the atmosphere and the margaritas. This review was almost painful to write, but it needed to be said. What happened to you guys?

This restaurant has gone downhill over the years. The food is rather bland and unseasoned in any fashion. The last time I went there, I ordered Papas y Chorizo con Huevos and they completely forgot the Chorizo. How lame is that — forgetting the main ingredient in a dish? This restaurant used to be really good, but lately, I am just not impressed.

This is one of those spots you need to mark on your restaurant must haves… the food is good, the service even better and the dessert treat at the end, just a nice way to cap off a very good effort in cooking up a authentic Mexican dish. Plan on an off night for your first trip, because some nights… its a good wait to eat dinner… but worth it.

Authentic Mexican cuisine and décor. Great salsa, chips, apps, and entres. A true hidden treasure in Miami Co.
