I went into the shop to have a dress hemmed from below the knees to above the knees. This was an expensive dress purchased to wear to a wedding. The owner was kind and agreed to hem the dress for 60.00(which I thought was high). I picked it up the next day, which was great timing; however, when I got it home and tried it on, it was completely uneven… quite noticeably shorter in the back than the front. Luckily, I had something else to wear to the wedding(a back-up since I was visiting from Los Angeles). The dress was completely ruined. After much coaxing, she agreed to refund my money for the hem… The dress was sooo short, I couldn’t wear it, so the entire dress was ruined. She said she would try to sell it(since somebody either shorter or younger could wear it once she fixed the unevenness of the dress) and give the money to me. Well, she later called back and said it wasn’t her fault the hem came out uneven and too short. The problem wasn’t her work, it was the dress. She said it wasn’t cut on the bias. I have no idea what that really means. All I know is the dress was ruined, and she didn’t keep her word. The refund that I got back had to be pleaded for. I would expect an experienced tailor to know how to hem something or say that it could not be hemmed. Beware of taking your expensive clothes into this shop.
