I’ve finally been back to the Knick several times this year after many years of not living in Troy. The great thing about the rink is that it’s open year round, they finally have schedules updated available online at the Troy city website, and they have adult skate for only $ 3 for over an hour every day! The ice is kept very nicely surfaced but is also much harder than the ice I’m used to at Boston Skating Club. Lots of the people who skate the adult session seem to be regulars, so maybe you’ll make some new friends!

This rink is old. This rink is small. But it’s a rink nevertheless, so if you’re looking to go ice skating nowhere in particular, this place will suit you just fine. I used to figure skate here during the spring when the rink in my hometown was closed, and I hadn’t been in about six years until this past weekend. Everything about the place was identical to my memories of it; nothing had changed or been replaced or updated. The rink itself is smaller than most other rinks I’ve been to, but I suppose that doesn’t matter if you’re not a figure skater. The arena could use some renovation. Some new bleachers would be nice!
