Wont go there again! Food bad and service was worse!

I visited La Piazza for the first time tonight. The wait was quite long however it was during prom season. Once we were seated, we got served quickly. The drinks were really good as was the food. However, if you’re not a fan of garlic I would avoid the house dressing. It was quite garlicky but that didn’t bother me. I would go back in a heart beat. I had the tortelloni with a pesto green sauce, while my boyfriend had the sampler. We both very much enjoyed the food.

I have been to La Piazza recently and learned that the guy that used to run the kitchen quit. You can tell, unfortunately. The minestrone soup that used to be amazing now tastes like watered down Campbell’s vegetable soup broth. They traded fresh shredded Parmesan for bowls of grated(think Kraft green shaker container) and any deviation from the menu isn’t going to turn out so well. While they typically use a ton of butter for dishes, it’s not even melted all the way now(my spaghetti Mediterranean had chunks of butter just laying there in the bowl). I thought Olive oil was preferred in Italian Cuisine? The Bruschetta Margherita was overly toasted bread and a small spoon of tomatoes on top. The bread was hardly edible it was so hard. I miss the old chef. Oh well-still good atmosphere and the bartenders are a riot and helpful. I’d go back and sit at the bar and eat a pizza. At least those are still yummy. PS: the wait staff are great, too!

It was our first time to try this restaurant and after reading all the reviews I was skeptical, however I must say it was wonderful! We went on a Friday night and we were served promptly no waiting forever on our salads dinner etc like a lot of ppl have said, eggplant was wonderful and the bakes cod fish was good as well, we will be returning cause mushroom ravioli looks great too can’t wait to go back!

This is a very cute place and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server was excellent and checked on us periodically. I think the best part of the meal was the bread. The food was just mediocre.

Personal favorites: the calamari arrabbiata, the smoked chicken ravioli, the cannelloni, the gnocchi. I dream about this place; it’s always so good. I just wish they served prosecco by the glass!

Food is pretty good, I really liked the alfredo sauce. Decent meat sauce. They seem to run out of certain things on the menu. Whoever the kitchen manager is needs to improve on logistics. Be aware, service is very, very slow. Twice that I have been there for dinner, it took 2.5 hours(we did not wait for a table either). Wait staff is very nice but expect to wait.

Nothing was wrong with this place! Friends and I went there right before a concert in town and they sat us within 20 minutes. Get a pasta dish! They are known for it and you won’t regret it. We got the brownie for dessert which was good as well. This place doesn’t get enough credit. Good food and good service.

Let’s start with the +, the spaghetti was very good, bread was fresh, eggplant was ok, mussels were ok. The downside — SLOW! Oh, the happy hour appetizers are only offered in the bar. What’s up with that?

We went here for lunch. One of us had the lunch buffet. The buffet was alright but needed to be refilled when we went up for our meal. Plus depending on what type of soup you like you may have to get it from your server. The other person had a ham and cheese sandwich with fries The ham was extremely salty. The server and the décor were nice but the food was just alright.

Very disappointing place! Slow! We were the first group to arrive after the restaurant opened for dinner. After we ordered, it took more than 15 minutes to get our side salad, appetizer and bread. Salad was disgustingly soggy with too much dressing. My friend chose Caesar dressing but the server didn’t tell him it would be $ 2 extra! After getting soggy salad, we waited probably 45 more minutes to get entre! So slow. After we ate, she never came to our area to check up on us so we had to wait for a while to have her give us our check. In the meantime we saw other guests complaining about their food quality and return their dishes. I thought this was a nice, more like upscale place with dishes mostly priced over $ 16, but their job was poorly done. I’ll never go back. Definitely not worth the money. Very disappointing. We had been better off at fazzoli’s! An hour to get our food, 15 minutes to eat, and 15 more minutes to get servers attention! Horrible.

The waitress was pleasant but that’s about it. Told us twice she would bring bread but it never happened. Had to wait thirty minutes for a drink refill which was also the time between the salads and the entrée. I had the chicken Caesar Dallas and the chicken was tough and on the verge of being burnt. The bags of Dole Caesar salad are better. And no anchovy though they are advertised. From the time we were seated to when we left it was two and a half hours. It will be awhile before I go back.

This is lovely place– looks like Upscale. Location is great. People who serve and manager like Christen Debar makes lot of difference. They were quick to take the order on the phone. They were able to understand Asian Indian english in no time. They were kind enough to keep it at the last minute. Very nice people. Janet who served is super awesome. She is one of the best service personnel i see in the industry. She can talk, discuss, quick and ability to get things done is amazing. She was kind enough to bring the manager also. She does for every customer –not just for me. I see that — the way she handled. This kind of nice place and the way they made Veggie Pizza was super good!:) On a snowy weekend –very tough outside, they all worked hard to make that happen. We should pat on the back for this kind of service. this happened on 02/15/2015(Sunday) — February 15’2015 Server id is 24

Let me begin by saying La Piazza has great food and great service. I have never tasted something I did not like on the menu! Love the smoked chicken ravioli, the manicotti, and the fettucini! HOWEVER — - Our most recent experience at La Piazza was not our best. We have been eating at this restaurant for 10+ years and have never had a «manager» or server be rude. Our server was polite, personable & attentive throughout. After our meal, We ordered dessert and 2 more drinks to finish. The tiramisu came out and was not as it usually is, we could not eat it in the state that it was presented to us. We sent it back after one bite. *****The manager came over and asked us if we had even had tiramisu before, and asked if we’d had la piazza tiramisu before.(Of course we have) She then told us she tasted our tiramisu after we sent it back and made a big production out of how there was nothing wrong with it but she would take it off the bill anyway. ******She was loud, rude, and disrespectful. Our server came back with a bill that reflected the deduction, but our credit card slip showed we were charged the extra amount for the tiramisu. We signed the slip and left with out finishing our drinks. She probably thought we did not notice the extra charge!!! Regretfully, We will never return to la piazza due to the treatment we received tonight. We love the food & service and always have, but the managers treatment was embarrassing and unacceptable.

If you like to be pampered like a rich a. hole but don’t really care about eating good food, you’re in the right place. Even if the portion sizes and quality of the dishes increased, it still wouldn’t be worth the prices they’re asking for. Most appetizers range from $ 5 – 15 and most entrees are at least $ 15, except salads which are ~$ 10. I only come here because we do dinner with some family in Troy sometimes and it’s one of the places they choose. I usually get the gnocchi, often luke-warm by the time it gets to me, and $ 15 later I’m still hungry. I ordered a salad from there once(I think it was the Salada al Mediterranean) and the cheese that came on it tasted exactly the way manure smells… idk who decided that it could be considered edible, but I disagree. Even though our group is in there semi-regularly I have never been sat in the nicer dining area in the back. We’re always stuffed in a booth in the little room front, so I don’t have much nice to say as far as service/décor goes, either. If you’re in troy and hungry for some Italian, save yourself the money and go to fazoli’s– all the disappointment at a fraction of the price!

When coming to La Piazza, don’t deviate from the pasta dishes. I came with a group and decided to order something else than pasta, Broiled Salmon, and was disappointed. Salmon was overcooked and dry. I chose a side of vegetables with my salmon, which resulted in receiving a bowl of three broccoli florets. Others in the group that also chose to walk down the path of fish dishes had the same result as I did. All those that ordered a pasta dish were very satisfied with what they ordered and received good sized portions. Wine selection is fair and service average. Pricing is a little on the high side, but the selection of similar restaurants in Troy is low.

If you like Italian food, and maybe even been to Italy, you need to try this restaurant. As a local, I’ve eaten here more times than I can count and I will never be sick of it. Ever. The Gnocchi is fantastic, but I usually order one of the specials. The head chef is very talented, and the specials are always amazing. Try the calamari because you won’t regret it. We try to get it just about every single time we go. The wine list has much to offer. Tons of reds and whites to choose from that flow over the palate and compliment the food you order. Ask the waitress or waiter what they recommend goes well with the food you order. I’m not sure if they still do it, but I think they have a pianist that plays in the full service bar on Fridays. You’ll have to call and confirm that though. There are four other bars downtown and three that are worth checking out if you are into that sort of thing. Its nice because you could eat at La Piazza and then walk to Caroline’s or Leaf and Vine for a few drinks. Leaf and Vine has live music on Saturdays. In short, it’s a beautifully decorated culinary masterpiece that is tied in first as my favorite restaurant in Troy(Caroline’s is also my favorite) and not to be passed up! I hope that wherever you decide to eat, you have a safe night full of fun and adventure! Happy dining!
