very nice burger joint, best burgers in Madison county is right! the girl who took my order was kind of rude. and I don’t like how you can see the cooks smoke out on the side. but the food is good! a little over priced! wish the girls were nicer and the food was a little cheaper!

I love their Ski and their food is delish. I don’t like how there are flies everywhere every time we go but I still rate 4 stars for good food. It’s a decent burger stand.

Decided to stop by here on our way to vacation. It’s just a little building on the corner, out in the middle of seemingly nowhere. The workers were definitely a plus for this establishment. Super friendly and full of smiles and a desire to be helpful. The food, on the other hand, wasn’t exactly what we expected after reading all of the reviews. It’s ok. Not fantastic, not awful. Just ok. And it takes FOREVER to get your food. The burgers weren’t too bad, but the chicken strips were boring and tasted like low quality frozen birds. The shakes were pretty delicious though. Overall they weren’t bad, but I honestly wouldn’t make an effort to go back.

Have been twice and was a little disappointed. I’ve heard many good things about this place but my experiences fell short. We ordered the fish sandwich and chicken sandwich, ski float, fried mushrooms, and waffle fries. The fish sandwich was good but the chicken sandwich was more like something from a nursing home cafeteria. We loved the fried mushrooms but only received 6 small mushrooms for $ 4. Our waffle fries were good as well and we’re given plenty of those for the couple bucks they cost. My wife also loved the ski float. I think I’ll give this place one last shot, just because it is near and I’ve heard the burgers are good(which I haven’t tried) I love small town businesses and would look forward to following up with a better review next time.

Great little shack to get ice cream and some chow. Think like a bowling alley snack bar with an ice cream stand attached, in the best way. Friendly people but it can get crowded quickly as there is limited space inside to eat but it is defiantly worth a once over at least.

Went there July 3rd with Mom for ice cream after I talked the place up. Walked up to outside window where we apparently interrupted the crabby book reading young child to order ice cream. I ordered a strawberry sundae that came with some strawberry juice and three strawberries and my mom ordered a twist cone that was given to her cracked and broken although the ice cream itself is very pretty. Was a quickly abrupt and unpleasurable experience. I felt embarrassed from my previous review. Took off one star

Seriously just a small white box building on the side of the road. Blink and you’ll miss it. Maybe that’s why I love it so much. It reminds me of the simplicity of In N Out in California. No frills, no special signs, just plain good. The burgers have a nice char on them, even better than Steak N Shake. The buns also have a nice buttery toast to them, and the veggies on the burger all fresh. The plain fries are a good size here, and served piping hot and perfectly crunchy. I rarely give 5 stars to a ‘dive’, but this place is awesome!

Has MUCH more than just burgers and fries! It can get busy during sports season with all the high schoolers coming. Great service and amazing food. Definitely should give it a try!

Came because of the great reviews, and I concur, it is all true! The«window staff» has a pop in their step that is a rarity in today’s world. Use the single door not the double door(the kitchen door) to enter or you may be put to work ! There was a radio playing some good classic rock when we ate. Perfect dive welcoming restaurant.

On our way to Mckendree for a concert, we found Loomy’s on Unilocal.Based on reviews, we had to try. Note, it’s quiet farmland area. Burgers & fries were yummy! Service was wonderful. They seemed happy to be there! We will return! It made our top 5 burger list !

I heard recently that Loomy’s had great fried chicken. So I called in 2 orders of 8-piece dark meat and 2 cheeseburgers(had to try this as I read the rave Unilocal reviews) to feed my family of 4. I had not been in this building for many years, but pass by quite often. The exterior is very unassuming and the interior is small but don’t let that fool you… the food is TODIEFOR!!! WOW, what a hidden gem. We taste tested the cheese burgers first, no condiments just fresh tomato, lettuce and onion — fabulous! Then, the fried chicken… the first bite sent us to food heaven! This was the chicken my mom used to make at home — perfectly breaded and fried outside, thin crispy skin covering hot juicy meat! I used to look forward to the KC fried chicken dinners twice a year but honestly, this is so much better… and MUCH cheaper! The 8 piece dark meat(no sides) was $ 8.95 and the cheeseburger was $ 2.75(no sides). Side run from fries, slaw, or potato sales at $ 1.50 to Chili cheese nachos at $ 4.00 while most are at $ 2.95(and please, fried pickles, fried green beans, and fried mushrooms… how could you go wrong?). They also have pizza, grilled chicken sandwich, fried cod, ice cream, soda floats, and apple/cherry pie. This is what I remember as a kid riding my bike up to and having a great snack with friends in the middle of a great summer! Finally, someone’s figured it out in our area… great food at a great price! Nothing fancy, not a limited menu of cold sandwiches and soup, and no weird hours(only open when regular people work). Hours are 10am — 8:30pm daily. Last, but not least, I must mention the staff. From when I called in my order to when I picked it up, the girls behind the window were two of the friendliest and cheerful people that I have encountered lately as a customer. It was so refreshing as lately, everywhere I go employees make me feel like I owe them something(what’s up with that?). I appreciated the smiles, bubbly attitude and the fact that they were paying attention to me instead of talking amongst themselves. All around this is a great place and I hope it gets the support it deserves! I’ll be back and I’m trying to spread the word!

I’ve now been to Loomy’s several times and can say Loomy’s has the absolute greatest burgers on the East Side. They menu is pretty extensive. It offers your choice of waffle fries or regular crinkle cut fries. They offer single, double and triple burgers on a delicious toasted bun. You can add the works and bacon for a nominal charge. Don’t let the exterior fool you. There is awesome food inside!

One of my favorite places to get a burger! Service is always great even with three wild children that have cabin fever from a winter that was too long. Their fried macaroni and cheese bites and fried pickles are both the best I’ve had any where. I can’t wait till it’s warm so we can make it our ice cream spot too!

OK, I know what my regular readers are thinking – 5 stars for a burger joint? This is not your ordinary burger joint, and do NOT be fooled by the extremely dumpy appearance of the building or the lack of windows and a drive through ordering. You have to go inside where you will find an extremely clean restaurant(with limited seating but they could fit at least 5 more tables) and some sports photos on the wall. Don’t be fooled by the plain-Jane tables and decorations as the star here is the FOOD. Everything is cooked fresh to order and dirt cheap – they actually are going to need to raise their prices because even family members can’t work for free forever, but that’s another story. The lunch special was fried chicken with fries for $ 5.95 which has to be about as cheap as you can get 3 pieces of chicken(and although I was astonished by being told that the special would take 20 minutes to cook, to their credit, they told me this up front so I could decide if I wanted to wait) and I got to choose the pieces I wanted. I traded the fries for fried cauliflower which is a premade frozen food service product and was nicely cooked and crispy but had absolutely NO flavor but a dipping sauce would have made a big difference. However, I can’t take off points for that because they didn’t make it. The fried chicken was as good and my grandma’s Sunday fried chicken and WELLWORTHTHEWAIT. I am totally stunned at how really great it was – hot, crispy and juicy on the inside and very obviously never frozen. This fried chicken(from a BURGER joint) was literally the best fried chicken I have tasted in many years and possibly my entire life and I would crawl back there for more of it on my belly over a mile of broken glass – and those of you who follow me KNOW how finicky I am. It was without a doubt homemade from someone’s tried and true family cookbook and a wing, leg and breast with fries for under 6 bucks is a winner even if it’s just OK – but this was OUTSTANDING. My husband said his burger was really good and the buttered bun that was lightly toasted was great. They have the really good crinkle cut fries that we both like and although he would have liked them a little more done,(he likes really well-done fries as do I) he said they were crispy and fluffy and had great taste. The people working there were very nice and the wait for the custom cooked chicken was well-worth it and if I wouldn’t have had to wait another 20 minutes I would have taken some home for later. I’m still thinking about it! I like to eat somewhere more than once before a review, but since they are new and getting established, I wanted to spread the word about how good it was, I’ll update after my next visit and believe me, it will be soon!

This has to be the best burger that I have eaten since I was living at home with mom. I ordered the triple with cheese and fries and it was the only burger that I have eaten without having to put some type of mayo or something on. The flavor is just incredible and the fries were awesome too. This place is for sure doing it right

First time trying this place. I was expecting a awesome burger, alas it was not to be. It was tasty but it was like a Steak-n-Shake burger. Not what I expected. The side order was not as plentiful as believed it should have been. Not much seating on the inside, I had to sit outdoors. Willing to give it another chance, I just think it was overrated.

My daughter and I visited Loomy’s yesterday. This dive has only been open for a few weeks and I was a little hesitant given the locale and appearance of the building. There were a few cons … we chose to eat inside and there were only 5 tables. No problem since only 1 of them was occupied. You order at the window and take a seat … they call your name when your food is ready. Sitting there with my teenage daughter, we could appreciate the dead silence in the building … almost uncomfortable. But we dealt. Anyways, on the the positivies because I am, in fact, giving Loomy’s 5 stars. The food … cheeseburgers, fries, chicken strips, grilled cheese, SKI!!!, etc … was AMAZING! Loomy’s reminds me of a place I drive over an hour to visit back home, including the small dining area yet plenty of picnic tables, no music, and diner feel. I love it. We will definitely be back. You must try it … the burgers become addicting. Ahhhh … dreaming of my next burger and Ski fix: D
