Don’t do it! Just don’t do it. Forget the atmosphere(none), the service is sub-par. Employees are too chatty and indiscreet. Not worth it, even with a coupon.

I got the same Groupon as Nichole S. from like 10 months ago. It took 7 months to get me in because they received so many bookings from Groupon they said. I don’t mind the wait, it was the service that was ridiculous. First of all, companies need to start realizing Groupon is marketing spend. Spas like this tend to act like you’re robbing them because you’re getting their service for so cheap. In reality, companies spend millions of dollars everyday in return for a potential customer on online promotions like this, and in advertising costs on TV, Groupon needs to be viewed as advertising(because now your previously unknown shop instantly got thousands of people to notice it), not«we’re giving you such a deal, and we’re losing so much money on you today.» It’s an investment in return for a potential long-term customer, if your service was good, then maybe 10−20% of Groupon buyers become long term clients, treating 80% of your Groupon customers like they’re cheapskates will lower your conversion rate obviously. I went there, and they took one look at me and basically decided I was a «kid.» I didn’t realize they were only rude to me until I heard them greet other older women walking into the door. To me there was no greeting, no introduction of their name(even their tones and chattiness changed with other customers), and basically consisted of short replies like«follow her» and«go back» to me. Now first of all, I look young because I’m Asian, but regardless of how I look — not a good idea to show your judgement to the client themselves. They lost half my appointment, couldn’t find the manicure I had booked, and read my Vitamin C facial as «Cleansing Facial» — probably because they thought I was a teenager. Oh and my manicure that they got me in for was nothing special. It’s seriously no different than going to a nail place in the mall, and I think they actually spend less time on you here. They actually missed an entire strip on my nail of my old nail polish, which still shows through my new layers of lighter polish. I wondered if I was being sensitive towards people’s reaction of me looking younger, but I actually had the manicurist flat out ask me as soon as I sat down: «how old are you?» Why would you ever ask a customer that? I said: «how old does it look like I am?» She replied: «18 or 19.» I’m actually in my mid twenties, own my own home, and work a corporate job, nothing about my life warrants the treatment of a child. And I find it highly unprofessional that you would say that to a customer. My facial was okay. I was left sitting in the room by myself for roughly 15 – 20 minutes of it – totally not worth the $ 88 if I hadn’t had the Groupon. There was about 10 minutes of a face and shoulder rub that was very relaxing, but other than that, not much of a benefit.

A couple weeks ago there was a Groupon for $ 100 worth of spa services for $ 35, you can’t pass that up. I had never heard of Magdalena, but worth a try for $ 35. I decided to just go with a 90 minute massage as it was $ 100. The building doesn’t really look like a spa, and the inside isn’t the greatest either. They try to make it look spa-like, but it kind of fails. My idea of a spa is a place where you feel relaxed and calm. While I waited to be called for my massage here, I felt like I was at a doctor’s office almost. The staff was really nice and friendly, which you can’t complain about. My masseuse lead me to my room, which was similar to any other spa. It had calming music and smelled like a spa should. I have to admit that the massage was good, and props to the masseuse who used her fingers the entire 90 minutes instead of using her wrists, palms, arms, etc. I was relaxed during and felt great afterward. I’ve had better massages, but I’ve definitely had worse. This isn’t the kind of spa where you’d want to have a «spa day» by yourself or with your girl friends. But it would be a good spa for anyone in need of a good massage without all the extra spa expenses. It would be such a great place if they would just dim their lights, make the waiting room more inviting and relaxing, and make small updates to the décor of the rooms.

I enjoyed a french manicure and pedicure with parafin. The spa is extremely small, so there is only room for one client at a time. The décor is a little shabby, but clean. They try very hard, but this is not what I think a spa should be.
