After buying a few suits from Bachrach I need some alterations done in a pinch and did not have 3 days to wait for it to be done in store. A quick phone call to Needle and Thread Alterations and Sam, the owner, graciously agreed to do the alterations right away for me. The shop is sort of hidden in the basement of Somerset, to be honest I never knew it existed despite having worked at this mall for several years. There is a large waiting room and several changing rooms. Sam clearly takes a great deal of pride in what he does and he is definitely an expert at his trade. My alterations came out just as I wanted, with meticulous attention to detailed that is unparalleled by other shops. I will definitely be returning. I was also pleased to learn that he does shirt tailoring, which is a nice service to find in this area. I highly recommend you turn to this shop for your tailoring needs.

I live in Toledo, Ohio and drive 90 minutes to Troy, MI just to have my clothes altered at Needle & Thread in the Sommerset Collection. They do great work, I trust them to work on high end designer clothing.

Not a fan. The tailor helped two men first even though they walked in after me. He wanted to charge me almost $ 70 to do some basic darting; ended up getting it done at Madeline’s for $ 45. He touts that he offers a discount to mall patrons who have their receipts to show they bought the outfits at Somerset, but the discount he was offering was only $ 5 off. Shop is hard to find; cross the somerset skywalk and go downstairs to the lower level(or just cross skywalk and ask concierge to point you). It’s by Louis Vuitton. Shop is nicely decorated, but service and pricing are questionable at best.
