Opa Fest is a yearly summer festival sponsored by St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. It takes place at the church grounds & banquet hall, and goes on for 3 days(Friday — Sunday). It’s also one of the best places to get some authentic Greek food! Whether you’re ordering some lamb, a gyro, pastichio, spanakopita, or maybe just some desserts… they’re ALL excellent! The food is the main thing that draws me to this festival, as well as the vendors they have setup all around the banquet hall. They’re selling everthing from jewelry, apparel, Greek themed goods(stickers, t-shirts, flags, etc), artwork, and religious items(icons from Greece, crosses, books, etc). Aside from the food & merch there’s also a Kafeneion(Greek: CoffeHouse), games, rides, live music, cooking demos, raffles, and Greek dancers performing throughout the event. It’s an overall great summer festival(this was my 6th year going to OpaFest), and it’ll give you an excuse to be Greek for the weekend! :)
