I come here often for lunch when I’m working out of my company’s office. Excellent food and a great deal, each week day the have a combo lunch special that includes two entries for the price of one. The service is on par with the food as well. A family owned business with a fun a vibrant atmosphere, they recognize their regular customers and welcome those who are new. You can have a lunch that includes soup, shrimp chips, an entrée(or two if you get the special) and a drink for under $ 12. I get C12 Royal Chicken with medium«spicy» level. Spiciness are in line with what you would think it would taste as(medium is medium, hot is hot, etc).

I was very impressed by the food, service and atmosphere. I loved the many seafood options(shrimp, scallop, calamari, cod, tilapia, red snapper, salmon, crab). I tried a nice cod stir fry with lots of vegetables, fresh ginger and spice topped with shrimp and scallops. It was amazing. I also enjoyed the«BBQ» chicken my husband ordered. It was crispy without a heavy batter. Served with vegetables in a sweet and savory dark sauce with spice. It came with soup that was flavorful, but had a weird gelatinous texture that was weird to the tooth. Really enjoyed everything else. Looking forward to my next visit.

My favorite style of food — FINETHAI cuisine, as busy as this place was, the service was FAST a.f. !!! The entrees came out to exact order of spice level(GREAT) !!! The menu was very interesting and had a lot for Veggie people, my favorite part was this unique soup(free) with these Oriental Chips(like Styrofoam) — very tasty !!! But one thing — out of all the places I’ve eaten, this place(Lady/Owner) was kinda rushing us out of there while the lunch hour rush was dieing down anyways and wasn’t all that friendly — I didn’t understand it !!! People Skills classes are in ORDER, but i ‘ll still comeback for the food and take my time there — I don’t care !!!

Here I am basking in the afterglow of a delicious serving of Drunken Noodles! The Orchid Cafes are the only Thai places in my area that offer such a delicacy! It is a tour de force of Thai flavor consisting of a wonderful brown sauce bathing freshly sauteed tomato, bell pepper, pea pods, bamboo shoots, celery and baby corn over a bed of wide rice noodles… AMAZING!!! I highly recommend The Orchid Café and, in particular, the Drunken Noodles!!!

By far the best Thai food around. Super friendly family owned restaurant. The curry puffs are to die for.

I wish I read the reviews about noodle dishes before going… it was mushy and salty. I eat Thai often and usually I get the same thing. This time, it just wasn’t that good. I ate my leftovers, but that means little. I would not go back. There are too many other choices in Troy.

It is a-ok, as long as you don’t order any of the noodle dishes. They are overcooked and mushy as well as a little too salty. Everything else I have tried has been pretty good. The curry dish is great, so is the prik, and the gang gai, the duck is great as well.

My family was really craving some Thai food so I searched where the best Thai food was within our vicinity. I came across orchid café and I was really surprised at all the wonderful reviews. We ordered the calamari appetizer and the chicken pad thai. The pad thai in my opinion is always a safe bet. Man, was i wrong. First I called to order and was rudely talked to on the phone. I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m talking to someone who is hostile and could care less about my business. It was a really weird phone call and I really do look at how people talk and treat their customers. Then I picked up the food and we opened the calamari up and it was inedible. Granted we probably shouldn’t have ordered it but it was putrid. Then we tried the pad Thai and it wasn’t good. It was like a salt bomb. How does a Thai place mess up pad Thai??? Perhaps we just went there on a bad night but we will not be going back.

Orchard Café is a great lunch location for the Troy, MI business district. You always see professionals devouring their amazing dishes. Their Pad Thai medium is my favorite. NOTE — bring a friend and split it. Not because the prices are outrageous($ 7 – 10 per entrée), but because the portion size is huge! Plenty to go around. Service is quick and YES, the employees can 100% understand you. I’m not saying that to be negative, but no language barrier at all is great. Complaints? Really only one thing. Parking. In a corner the parking can be limited. Be sure to beat the rush or be good at squeezing in a spot. Enjoy your experience and share on Unilocal

Best Thai food around. I’ve been coming here for years. This place seems to have changed owners many times, but the recipes for the dishes seem to stay the same. Best spring rolls and hot and sour soup in the area. I’ve tried many Thai restaurants and this is always the best.

Of the two Orchid Café locations, this is my favorite. The staff is good and the food always delivers. I’m especially a fan of their daily lunch special, which is essentially two meals for the price of one. Plus, it’s gotten me to try several items that I wouldn’t normally consider.

Orchid Café has officially been declared my new favorite local restaurant for Thai Food. With your entrees, you get hot and sour soup plus shrimp chips! They put just the right amount of spice in their dishes and I just loved the flavor.

I was excited to try this place on my way to Somerset… and considering the reviews… my sis and I were super excited. but the food and service are not all that. waaaay over rated. Pad Thai alright… pad se ew… dis gus ting! the mean old lady wouldn’t even take it off the bill. she said she is not the cook and gave us a «heh». well, I guess you get what you pay for. and the reason why this place deserved 3 stars… the hot and sour soup… delicious. anyways, save your money and move on. oooh btw the soup comes free. yeah… that’s about it. other than that first and last time.

Had the Pad Thai and the Pad Se Ew tonight. Both dishes we good, the pad see ew noodles were over done though, and very mushy. Usually when we order the 2, the pad thai has a lighter sauce, but here it was the opposite, the pad thai had a darker sauce than the see ew, but the pad thai was good. Also, the broccoli in the see ew was overcooked. It was pricey, $ 11.50 each, and carryout does not get you soup or chips. I also asked for white rice, and was charged. I think steamed rice should be included. I will try elsewhere in Troy next time.

I love the Pad See Ew here! This is my favorite Thai dish and I’ve ordered it all over town at Thai restaurants in Rochester, Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Novi! But Orchid Café knows how to make it just right. I order it with mild plus spice and its just hot enough for me. When dinning in you get their shrimp chips and hot and sour soup included with dinner. I love their chips, they always seem fresh and never stale like at some restaurants. I get takeout here mostly, but have dinned in on several occasions. And when I do their wait staff is always friendly and on top of things.

There’s a lot of Thai places around town, this one has never dissapointed me. I’ve come weekly for probably a good year plus since I work just down the street. As a Troy resident my whole life, I’ve tried the array of Metro Detroit Thai places. The included soup is Hot & Sour(Chicken, bamboo shoots mushroom & water chestnuts). I really enjoy the ‘match stick’ cut bamboo shoots in it. I usually mix in some of the hot oil from the table as I like more spice. Their pad Thai is quiet good in my opinion, but in general that’s not my fav dish at Thai places. They have great tofu, and super tender tasty pork. I’ve sampled the drunken noodle, and duck as well. My # one dish I love, and have converted people on is the Pepper Garlic. It’s # C14 on the menu. The dish is sauteed with mellow garlic sauce, green onions, mushrooms, onions, carrots, and bamboo strips. The sauce has a ton of flavor, and I can barely describe it. My co-workers have ordered a whole slew of other dishes. I can’t imagine rating them all, let alone providing a good ‘critical’ explanation. What I will say is that the place is clean, the food is absolutely consistent, and always flavorful. I actually enjoy knowing if I want the dish I love, it will come out just like I remember it. If I want to try something new, I know it will be executed well. Thai curry noodles — N4 on menu is just epic. That sweet milky heat of their lovely red thai curry, with straw mushrooms and thick river noodles. Cheers,

Salty! I ordered something with red curry and tofu and although I found the meal to be decent, it was overly salty and there was more rice than curry in my take out box. I could taste the fish sauce mixed into my meal and I wasn’t sure about that because usually the curries I order don’t go that way. Perhaps I just ordered randomly because the lady was in a hurry to take my order although she didn’t fill it until I reminded her I was still there on a busy Friday. To her credit she did give me free soup, which I guess was their version of hot and sour, with a few bamboo shoots, a few tiny tiny pieces of what I thought was chicken, and a sort of thickened clear(corn starchy?) soup base that was a little bit sour like watered down vinegary… soup? If you dine in I’m assuming the service is better because most of the people who left were happy and chit chatting with the owners(a few college boys trying to mack on her teenage daughter even). I think you get all you can eat shrimp chips in rainbow colors in a basket. I live a few steps away literally. Still I think I prefer the Thai down the road. Its not too far considering the service and taste difference for me.
