There’s a long, boring story underneath this review, about how I own and maintain four cars, and when one’s in the shop, the young adults never lose, and I drive my lovely, hardworking, ambitious wife to work, watch the sun rise after the dropoff, then drive myself all around before picking her up again. I’d smelled just wisp of smoke in the air one evening, the memory of which planted itself in my food planning imagination. The next night, I decided that making dinner was just too much, so we stopped at Randy’s. The brisket is very good, as is the sweet and smoky sauce. We enjoyed the potato salad. Not so excited about the slaw. Still, for brisket like that, and if you’re in the area, I’d say it’s worth a stop for dining in or take out.

Ribs are very good and you need not drive to St. Louis. Potato salad similar to 17th Street in O’Fallon. Baked beans are quality as well. Snoots on Saturday are probably the best in the area. Make sure you ask for it dipped. Gooey butter cake is made from scratch and is fantastic.

The food here is a great as expected. Randy’s have had a number locations throughout the years. The staff is courteous and the food plentiful. A little pricey for barbecue but worth it for the atmosphere.

No longer will I need to drive from the Metro East to Midtown or Soulard to satisfy my barbeque cravings. Randy’s House of Barbecue delivers high quality barbecue to us living in the Metro East. For those that don’t know Randy’s took over an old bar located in Troy, the outside appearance leaves alot to be desired however I have learned before to never judge a book by its cover. The atmosphere is fun and festive, and once stepping foot inside your senses will be overwhelmed with the amazing aroma of smoked pork and beef and the sound of the blues taking over. I will admit that the inside is rather small, with a bar taking over about half the inside. Yes, there is a full bar with daily drink specials however they also offer more casual seating and lunch specials, along with a children’s menu. So no need to worry, this is a place you can bring the family while enjoying a Schlafly. I tried the beef brisket and and sampled the pulled pork, they both were great. The brisket was tender and had a good smoked flavor, however the pulled pork was the real winner. Possibly as good as some of the other top barbecue options in Saint Louis(you know who they are). I almost didn’t want to ruin the taste of the pork by adding sauce however the house sauce is a little spicy with a little sweet, which was a good combination. Sides are limited to beans, slaw, potato salad and chips which is a little bit of a disappointment. I would like to see some vegetables, like corn or green beans, or even some mac & cheese but they are not available. I noticed some interesting options on the menu which included pig snoot, BBQ pork pizza, and a buffalo chicken pizza. Given how much I enjoyed the Pulled Pork, I really wanna try the BBQ Pork Pizza!

We went there because we had bought a Groupon and we loved it! We both got the sampler that comes with pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, and half of a(cheese) bratwurst. We also ordered the same sides– baked beans and potato salad. The meat had a nice smoky taste and was very moist(even the chicken). I had the sweet BBQ sauce(I forget the name) as well as the competition sauce and liked both! I’m pretty picky about my BBQ sauce so I was really surprised that I not only liked one but two of the sauces. The beans and potato salad were delicious. Some of the best potato salad I’ve every had. Very creamy! I could tell that all their food was homemade and that the bratwurst was probably locally processed. I’ve never had any Johnsonville brats that tasted nearly as good as Randy’s! To top off the meal, we had to get the Oreo Gooey butter cake to go since were stuffed but it sounded so delicious and it was! I threatened to eat my husband’s piece if he didn’t eat it the next day! The atmosphere is very relaxed and we had great customer service. I can’t wait to go back!!!

Ok so we go to Randys because we love their food and when it was in Maryville it was fine, but now that they have moved to Troy it is an awful experience. We went their one other time and received the same experience that we did tonight. You go in and now its in a bar. So we go up and order a couple drinks. Sit down at a table, drink drinks and look at the menu. While we are sitting their several server walk right around us. Never making eye contact and not say Hi or even acknowledge that we are sitting there. So then the servers dont take your order so my husband goes up to the bar to place our order. Takes about 15 min to stand in line to order. Then only one girl can ring up credit cards. In the mean time as im sitting at the table 2 different servers try to deliver food to my table because they have no idea who ordered what since they dont take the order. The whole system is a complete mess. We call the owner over an express our complaint about their system of doing things. The owner who if you ask me was drunk and really didnt care about our complaint, and explained that this is the way the busiest restaurant in St. Louis does it. I was completely blown away. Ive never seen such chaos or had such bad service as I did at Randys. The owner obviously cares more about the beer then the food and service. We will never go back!!!

We ate in on a Friday night early enough that it wasn’t crowded. I wasn’t real crazy about the potato salad. It wasn’t bad, just a little bland. I have to say the pulled pork was probably the best I’ve ever had. Very juicy. Prices were good and we will defiantly be going back again.

I had a carry out lunch from the new location in Troy. Randy’s closed the Maryville location. The slaw was nasty, but the potato salad was edible. The carry out sandwich consisted of a semi dried out hamburger bun with sliced brisket wrapped in plastic. The brisket was a bit dry, somewhat rubbery and apparently had been heated in a microwave. In hindsight, beef brisket was probably not the best choice for a place that doesn’t sell out each day of the beef they just smoked. The competition BBQ sauce was pretty good. If we ever try this again, we will probably get pulled pork or chicken by the pound and see how that goes. The restaurant atmosphere was dark and kind of dirty feeling. Update. We tried Randy’s again(carryout) and I have upgraded my rating from 1 to 2 stars. This time we tried the pulled pork and chicken sandwiches. This was an improvement over the brisket. I still think the offerings are only borderline acceptable. I would not go out of my way to eat here.

I have been fortunate enough to dig into some absolutely delicious BBQ in my short 21 years of life. However, I am not to fond of the local BBQ choices in the greater St. Louis area. BUT, while I was home for spring break my parents told me about a great local BBQ restaurant they had run across a few weeks prior. Now, any BBQ lover understands if you go too late in the day for BBQ you could be looking at a smaller menu due to the lack of availability. Nevertheless we arrived and were informed that only chicken, pork, and ribs remained. Lucky for me — they had everything I wanted. The food was wonderful. I ate a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans as a side. The meat was very tender and they offered a wide variety of sauces. Unfortunately, my feelings about the food do not flow over into those about the customer service. The employee working seemed to be a bit overwhelmed which resulted in some mixed up orders, an hour wait, and a little rudeness to boot. I understand life can be difficult at times when dealing with the struggles of running a small business but it doesn’t cost anything to give your customers a smile. My hopes for Randy’s House of BBQ are still high though. I wish no harm to any small business — especially one with great food. They have a few small hiccups to overcome but I will be returning at some point in hopes that I can rewrite this review with a more positive experience.

Great… great BBQ. Competition Sauce is dreamy. Best brisquet around. Don’t eat those burnt ends because I want them all… they are perfect. Great value in my opinion. The marginally higher cost is offset by their QUALITY! Only downfall is it is sloooooooow. Come in a patient mood and you will be happy.

I’m surprised that this place doesn’t have any reviews yet. We found Randy’s House of Barbecue while driving by one day. It is just around the corner from our house, so we decided to stop in for dinner one night. We were craving good BBQ and we found it here! It’s a small restaurant with a counter where you order your food. Their menu has everything you could want and they have a selection of 4 sauces to choose from. I ordered a half rack of ribs and my husband got the combo plate with chicken, brisket, sausage and pulled pork. For sides, we ordered baked beans, cole slaw and potato salad. The staff are friendly and the service was prompt. We didn’t have to wait long for our delicious food. Let me tell you… when the ribs came out I was ready to start digging in. It looked and smelled fabulous! The meat came right off the bone. The seasoning on the meat was good and not overwhelming. Their sauces were also very tasty. The sides were a great complement to the meal. Everything tasted fresh and home made. This is one place that you have to stop in and try! I know we’ll definitely be back!

We are barbecue fans, especially of Pappy’s and Bogarts, and a guy named Captain Hog who caters the Edawrdsville Gun Club, so were excited that there was a new place nearby. Now? Not so much. We arrived and there was one family there, already seated. We placed our order, and waited. And waited. And waited. I think the girl was working alone, but really, how long does it take to serve up already cooked food? A friend had said they liked it because it was cheaper than the others, but if you compare the size of servings, it is MORE expensive. I ordered the brisket and received two thin, small pieces, one of which was half gristle. The sides were so-so, sauces are bland, and the carry out was slow. Don’t think I’ll be returning anytime soon, especially when I can drive a little further, go to St. Louis and get GREAT barbecue.
