The service is awesome and the food even better! Would come back and probably will again this weekend. Delicious authentic Korean food!

I’d imagine this is what korean home cooking is like if you’re korean. It was great. This is the coziest, tiny little place. The owner/waitress recognized that I haven’t been in a while. So friendly.

Sammi is a cute little café with an extensive menu. Their price is reasonable and the food is delicious. We had the Jae yuk kimchi bokkeum(kimchi and pork stirfry) and they definitely did not skimp on the pork. The kalbi tang was delicious and refreshing and the pajun was crispy and full of seafood. I would definitely tell people to give this place a try!!!

This is the best Korean place that we have been to in Michigan. We got the pork ribs special(which was huge!!) and the spicy seafood soup. The side dishes were all very fresh. They were actually spicy just the way I like it! A lot of the menu was in Korean, but our waiter was really nice and explained it to us. You can also get Korean bbq here if you wanted. This place is truly a gem. Definitely will be coming back.

Sammi is an small restaurant but very nice inside and with a very friendly owner. The menu is quite large with very representative Korean dishes. I tried the Dduk Bbokki and the Hae Mul Pa Jeon, both very good. I go normally for lunch and it’s always good all dishes in the menu(spicy chicken bowl and Jae Yook Bowl specially). All the other customer are Korean mostly so that indicates you that this is the right place.

Kind of small with understandably slower service, but overall good. Food is very good — I recommend the«ddukbokki» which is rice cakes in a spicy sauce. One of the cheapest Korean restaurants around the area.

This place has good food! And great side dishes! I am addicted to dubboki and seafood pancakes. The owner handed me over the little yoghurt drink while I waited for my food Which I later had to go find at the Nearest Korean store.

Love, love, love this place. Staff is nice, but there may be some language barrier. That’s OK with me, it’s an authentic restaurant. Bib im bop is probably the best I’ve had. I tried a fish soup which was heavy in the clams, also very good. Love the little side dishes, like the fish cake. Just try it, you’ll like it!

Sometimes I think to myself, «Do I feel like eating Korean today?» The answer is usually«No», but whenever it is a «yes», I’m always willing to try new Korean places. Went here for dinner with a few of my favorites, and, as usual, highs, lows, and notes: PROS: –Korean people eat here! That’s a great first impression. –Many interesting things on menu. –Awesome radish side dish. –Awesome fish cake side dish. CONS: –My food, while it looked good, was only meh. –No kimchi side dish?! You insult my honor! –Please clean the walls. There was soy sauce on them near where I was sitting. –Didn’t see korean blood sausage on the menu. What kind of place is this?! Unilocalers had me fooled! –Friends regular bibimbap was cold. My dish of beef/rice(in picture) was so hot I nearly burned myself. Maybe I’m just a pansy. Notes: There’s a secret menu on the walls written in Korean. You can’t order it unless you can read Korean(I’m just kidding). But I wonder what it is though… Also, what’s up with the whole French-café-bistro vibe/deco? I mean am I in Paris eating bibimbap? Personally, when I’m eating a nation’s food, I want to feel that nation’s ambiance around me. The deco is too«modern» for my taste, especially when this isn’t a fusion restaurant. Overall, It’s ok. I probably won’t return, since Chung Ki Wah and H-mart offer tastier selections.

My friend and I came here for our lunch break. We thought we should check out another Korean restaurant, we always frequent Chung Ki Wa, but I’ll save my review on them next. Anyway, we were greeted with smiles from our lovely server. We definitely beat the lunch hour rush, we were the first ones there. The place had a very neat vibe, a welcoming vibe that says«take a walk on the wild-spicy side and experience the Korean cuisine», maybe it was the green paint on the wall. I love spicy food like all my Asian counterparts and I truly enjoy every slurp of soup I ordered, Kim Chi Soup. It was definitely hot(temperature), it was hard to enjoy, I kept blowing on it(HA!) but still no bueno. It was fine though, I toughed up and just went to town. My friend ordered the Bulgogi and she was a total fan. We ordered water, I was huffing and puffing because the soup was spicy, but I sure loved the flavor! The servers stated«too spicy?» I smiled and laughed, «yup! BUT I LOVEIT!» I will say, the portion size of this place was smaller than other Korean places I’ve visited. I mean for the price it should be an adequate amount. Anyway, we will probably come back, but it won’t our frequent spot to eat Korean.

Family owned restaurant. Defintely had communications problems with the waitress. She did not even check on us once! However, the other waiter was pretty kind & bought us more side dishes when we asked. He is the reason I am giving this place 3 stars! Tofu soup comes only with seafood. Pretty bland. I also ordered the #2 noodle dish. This was bland also. The only thing I enjoyed was the side dishes and my hot tea. I might give place another try. Oh Atlanta I miss you!

Definitely a great food spot find. The restaurant is small and the owner is very hospitable. I’ve been here on busy occasions where seating may be limited but the owner is always accommodating. I usually get the usual soondubu, seafood pancake and bulgogi dolsot. The portions are big so there’s always leftovers to take home. The seafood pancakes are yummy. The soondubu comes out pipping hot in a stone pot it’s takes some waiting unless you want scalded tongues. The owner is generous with the ban-chan. Offering refills at request without difficulties. I’ve seen other customers order a large stew dinner entrée to share which looks interesting as well. Overall, great restaurant with mom-pop feel. There are a lot of local korean customers who frequent the restaurant. That’s when you know a place is legit right?

Sorry to say, but the most disappointing Korean food experience of my life. My boyfriend and I ordered a plate of vegetable dumplings which were obviously just frozen ones bought from the Korean market down the street. His beef bulgogi tasted like it was marinated in marshmallow fluff and my tofu soon do bu? The worst! The waitress could barely speak English and when I tried to tell her I didn’t want any meat in my stew she ignored me and put in a bunch of shrimp and clams :(which were both overcooked and unappetizing. This is the kind of place where you get a funny stare and treated weirdly if you aren’t a «regular». I may not be Korean, but I am very well acquainted with Korean food coming from Los Angeles. The food was so hot and overcooked I couldn’t even eat my soup until it was cold. On top of it all when I asked for a glass of water the waitress said«too spicy for you?» Rude. Word to the wise – do NOT go here unless you speak Korean. There will be communication issues.

This is the best family owned Korean restaurant in the state! Love the Kalbie! We drive 40 minutes from our home to eat here.

It’s a small, quaint restaurant that is easy to miss. However, the food in here is very authentic. The waiter/waitress were very attentive to all our needs. They kept refilling our side dishes, which were super yummy. The bibimbap was so good! As well as the soondubu. Will definitely be back here for more Korean food :)

I had a horrible experience here 2 months ago. Came here with my mother because she was craving Korean food and Unilocal had great reviews. Well, we walked in and there was only one table. The waiter came and asked us to sit at a table only made for two at the corner. We did not appreciate that since it was not the cleanest and it’s kind of an awkward spot. Very tight. So my mom asked to sit at a table with four chairs but the waiter refused. Kept on saying no. At this point we were ready to leave. Seriously? It’s a bigger table and it’s not even busy! Well finally after seeing my moms reaction, the waiter allowed us to sit. Took our orders after a long wait, and once again it wasn’t even busy. The part that was upsetting was the service after. We got our food and when my mom received her noodle soup, no soup!!! Whatever my mom was ready to go but we were starving so we stayed. Well she was in the process of eating when the waiter came with a bowl and literally dump it in her bowl. Almost in her mouth since she still had noddles in her mouth! Gross! She stopped chewing and just stared at him. He didn’t say one word and didn’t even excuse him self and put his hand with bowl practically in her bowl. Gross! We waited forever to get a bill and nothing. Worse experience WILLNEVERGOBACK!

Sammi was a fun, new experience. I went with my family and we weren’t really sure how to order so we just ordered a bunch of things. The dumpling appetizer and the rice noodle(in spicy sauce) appetizer were very good. The serving sizes of these were actually very large and our tummies were full as we ordered our main meals. I think we maybe should have stopped at the appetizers. When we got our food the portions were very large, but what made for portion lacked in flavor and finesse. My seafood soup was pretty underwhelming and I have to be honest in saying it didnt taste very fresh. The rest of my family ordered some hot pot meals and had to agree. The staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be. Maybe we just don’t really have a taste for Korean food — but I would like to give Sammi another shot.

Like Korean food — I’ve had better and worse. The ambience sucks. I’ll just put it out there. It looks like a kitchen store that is now a restaurant — if they ever spill something on the floor I guess they can clean it up easily… but don’t take a date here unless it is for lunch. The food is good. They are a little skimpy with the side dishes, but I thought the food was fresh and the portions of the actual dishes was pretty good. One other mistake I will tell you of — and it was my fault because I am cheap. For $ 1 less you can get bimimbap in just a normal bowl, not in a hot stone. DONOTDOTHIS. They should not even have it as an option.(I don’t need to update my full review — but I went today and had the hot pot… wayyyyy better) I would probably go here more often however they are not open on Monday and somehow I am always there on Monday. Luckily the Thai, Indian and sushi places are all very good too.

I was honestly debating if I wanted to turn around and walk right out due to the smell of this place. It was atrociously foul, like old seafood left out on a warm summer day. I gagged a few times but I decided to stay due to the awkward fact that I was the only person in the restaurant and had already been seated… I’ve never had Korean food before so I had no idea what anything was or what was good here but I ended up ordering #2 jjam bbong(how the heck do you pronounce that?!) and surprisingly, it was pretty good! VERY spicy which made it almost inedible to me since I have a low heat tolerance– but that was my fault, it said it twice on the description that it was spicy lol. The broth was liquid fire, two mussels, 3 shrimp and a ton of squid/octopus that were wayyyyy over cooked and rubbery. The noodles were great and gave everything a nice mouthfeel. The real star of the show in my option was the little fish cakes(absolutely amazing) pickled radish and cucumbers, and kimchi. This would be perfect on a cold winter day! I also ordered the rice cakes dish that I won’t even attempt to spell. I was intrigued by all the pictures/reviews about it being«amazing» so I tried it out. I guess my mouth isn’t accustomed to that texture but i literally spit it out from how startled I was. Shape wise: Think of a string cheese chopped into thirds. Thick stubby tubey pieces. Texture: think undercooked boba or even a very dense and chewy jello. The sauce and ramen under it were even more spicy than my soup which was crazy to me lol This place is interesting. Next time I’d like a native to come with and explain things and guide me but it wasn’t horrible(I wouldn’t NOT recommend the rice cake dish though.)
