First let me say this Sunny Wok is not about ambiance nor an appropriate place for a sit down dinner with the family it is what it is a takeout Chinese food restaurant. Yup you could stop in after the gym with a messy ponytail and wearing yoga pants without the staff giving a flip! So Takeout or delivery is their deal, with that said lets get the low down on the food… Sunny Wok is my Lansingburgh Chinese go to. yes friends guilty pleasure all the way! Now its the americanized type we are used to!!(Wait what?) Yup you heard me right. The Chinese food you typically get is americanized. So lets not be too critical. Its working mans chinese at its best and I love it! Every naughty bite!!. They can customize your order the portions are great. you are supposed to share thrm by the way. Even the lunch specials. They use fresh ingredients and it just tastes yummy! Been a customer for at least 19 years. So ive tried a ton of stuff. Best steamed dumplings in the area. Honest! Won ton soup-Yes please Anything with chicken be it chicken chow mein to general tso’s is spot on Their ribs are stellar. They always make the rice right! The veggies are cooked perfectly. So now my children take this knowledge order it and take it home or to a friends i could go green eggs and ham with the many place to enjoy this. but give them a chance! Its getting colder now so warm it up with thier delicious chinese food!!!

The place looks pretty dumpy but don’t be fooled! They make some decent food. If you are looking for some cheap Chinese take-out in the Cohoes/Lansingburgh area this is as good as it gets.

11/15/2011 I stopped for lunch takeout at Sunny Wok in the Burgh very recently. This Chinese eatery is small and geared towards takeout and delivery, which is order at the counter and there’s a table for eating in, but the place was very chilly inside(no heat on), the staff were wearing jackets in the kitchen. I sat right next to a big pile of rice(in big sacks) and a supply of clear frying oil(from Sam’s Club) in the waiting area as my order was being prepared. I ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein lunch special($ 4.75 plus tax) served with pork fried rice and a Shimp Egg Roll($ 1.40). The food was ready in under 10 minutes after ordering. The lo mein dish was mostly firm noodles with several small shrimp and few carrots and sprouts, not too oily. The fried rice(light yellow) was mostly firm yellow rice with few roast pork cubes and onions. The shrimp egg roll was long and not wide, crispy wrapper outside with shrimp and cabbage inside. I was at another Sunny Wok(in Wilton) a while back and I can recall the lo mein dish had more vegetables, which I enjoyed. Overall, the food was basic and tasted fine, but nothing that stood out.
