The Cedar Plantation is a youth center in Troy, NC and they host Rock Concerts for the kids on Saturday nights without the pressure of drinking/drugs and so on, doing their best to create a safe environment for tweens and teens. They brought our band in to be the opening act for a headliner called Broken Yesterday. We did this as volunteers. The venue itself is an old block masonry type building with a garage door type opening in the front on one side of the building. I’m thinking it may have been an auto repair shop at one time, or even an auto dealer before the gas station next door was built. In any event, while it’s not the cleanest spot on the face of the map(not meant in any derogatory way — just meaning it’s concrete floors and might sport a little dust, but nothing to suggest having to be concerned about bacteria or what not), it was open compared to the rest of the town. As far as a venue for a show, it turned out to be okay. It lacks air conditioning, but we didn’t care, we were having a good time. There was plenty of room for both bands to get set up. There is a menu for family friendly beverages, nachos and other snacks, but the place is not about serving food, it’s about being a safe venue for kids. My daughter had a blast in the game room, between air hockey, bumper billiards, ping pong and so on.
