I always come to the Melting Pot and it gets better and better every time I come! The service and food is great here!

Went there for my boyfriend’s birthday the waitress was talking about inappropriate things telling my boyfriend to go to a strip club and get a lab dance and get drunk«it’ll be fun». I did not believe what I was hearing. I didn’t want to say anything cause I just wanted her to take our order already cause she took forever, my boyfriend laughed about it and took it as a joke but she does not have the right to say that to anyone she should respect the fact that Im his girlfriend and I was sitting next to him. She was lucky cause a different person would’ve punched her right in the face for talking such trash. After she finally stopped talking she took our order the menu was so confusing she left and took forever another waiter from another table felt bad and checked on us and she still didn’t arrive after more than 45 min she brought the food it was disgusting honestly I did not like it at allllllll it made me gag. The only thing I liked was the fondue it was good but there were such small portions and very pricy. I hated the wait the disrespectful waitress and the pricy small portions will never go there again maybe for the fondue but it’s such a waste of time.

Been here several times. The novelty of it is great. Everyone should come at least once. The food is just ok and over priced. Nothing is bad but with the prices the way they are I would expect organic and very high end food.

Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. We had the 4 course meal and we were there 3 hours. We considered leaving after waiting 25 minutes for our drinks. We should have, because it was like that the rest of the meal. We were there for three hours. We had to ask other wait staff to get our orders. There were four of us and we had the 4 course meal with a desert and a couple of drinks. Our bill was $ 280. I’ve got no problem paying $ 70 for a meal, but for some melted cheese, chocolate and a skimpy amount of meat, it was not worth it. Plus they give you a few pieces of wilted broccoli apples and bread for dipping. Not impressed. I’m sure that the god awful service colored my perception, but I won’t be back.

Good for happy hour, otherwise it is overpriced. They have a nice seating area in the bar. The service is good however getting food can take a while. Good place for snacks not a full meal. I recommend asking for extra veggies with your cheese. I had the pesto cheese it was great. The peanut butter dessert was great as well. The brie cheese was ok however needed more brie less other mixed cheeses.

Very small portions and way overpriced! We were very disappointed with the server as the information he provided was confusing! I do not recommend this place and will never go back!

Waited a while past our reservation time. Some staff not very professional talking loudly in front of us on the floor, our server was actually very sweet and attentive. The tables around us were dirty the entire time and weren’t bussed until we were leaving. Food was delicious. Especially loved the dark Choc and sea salt dessert

Extremely Unhappy! First time here and service was the worst I’ve had in a very long time anywhere. After complaining, the manager served our dinner and another server tried to help, we didn’t even want to stay for their chocolate dessert fondue(and I was looking forward to that!). Waited more than 15 minutes for our drinks. I wasn’t done with my drink and it was gone, replaced by a fresh one I didn’t want or ask for. Won’t be back. In their defense, other servers seemed attentive — pray that you get one of them — steer clear of Phil.

Perhaps the worst«fine dining» I’ve ever experienced. Let’s start from the beginning, shall we? The week prior to our arrival, we made reservations for 4 at noon. We arrived at noon on the day of our reservation. There was no one there to greet us; we waited about 10 minutes in the lobby until someone seated us. The entire lunch service was a disaster. No one took time to explain our options, it took us 10 minutes after that to get us water and there was not one refill. There was a table right next to us and the server filled up their water and left ours empty. No one checked up on our fondue. Our cheese ended up burning and ended up being inedible after a while. In fact, they only turned off the hot stove when I said«hmmm, SMELLSLIKESOMETHINGISBURNING» quite loudly. The salads were just plopped on the table. Nothing special. The dessert, took us 40 minutes to get after we finished our salads. 40MINUTES. PACKAGEDTOGO. What I don’t understand is that, NOONE, came out to give us an excuse or even let us know what was going on with our dessert or entire meal. Multiple servers made eye contact with us and did not even attempt to explain. In fact, they avoided our table, and our table alone. Unprofessional behavior. As a server myself, I know you can’t choose your customers. But that doesn’t excuse the fact that you cannot give professional service. Worst experience, I won’t be back. I’ll probably advise anyone else who ever goes there to clear their entire day because 2.25 hours for lunch on a weekday is absolutely ridiculous. We had the manager come out, after this ridiculous waiting for someone to take care of our table. He explained that it was«extremely busy». I walked around the restaurant because I was looking for a server, and only counted FIVE total tables between two servers. Absolutely ridiculous. Personally, wouldn’t have minded waiting as long as someone would explain to me what was going on. Completely unprofessional. I would give this place zero stars if I could. In short, the food is okay, honestly nothing special. The service and attitude of every single staff member is absolutely atrocious.

Happy hour cheese & chocolate $ 8.95×2 for two in the bar! Drinks $ 5. There is a Groupon out there for $ 40 for dinner for two!

Came here on a Saturday night with a party of 5. They sat us after 15 minutes of checking in although they had multiple tables open, which I didn’t understand. I really liked the place. Our waitress Lexie was great. Prompt and friendly service. She explained the menu well. We ordered two of the 4 course fondue experience and the rest had a la carte items. We tried the Brie cheese and the cheddar fondues, both were delicious. For salads, we had the house and the California, and both were crisp, fresh and tasty. For entrees, we tried the Land & Sea, the angus sirloin, the teriyaki sirloin and the melting pot favorite. Being a fondue restaurant, the entrees come out raw but seasoned, and you cook them in your pot. I really enjoyed the experience. The meat was tender and tasty, although after you find your favorite dipping sauce, things start to taste similar. Finally, we had the flaming turtle and the peanut butter chocolate fondues. The desserts are 5 star quality, and I would come here for the dessert alone too. It was a chocoholic’s dream! Would definitely come here again. If you don’t enjoy cooking your own entrée don’t come this is not for you.

Came here accidentally on a Saturday night with a party of 5. The place is nice and big. I’ve never been here before and had no idea what to expect. We got two 4 course meals and 3 main dishes, and felt like there was enough food. For the cheese we got cheddar and Brie without bacon. It comes with green apple slices, white and brown bread, veggies like broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. The food was plentiful and delicious. Can’t decide which was better! Our server prepared the cheese right in front of us in our 2 pots. For the salads we got California(my fav) and the melting pot special house salad, which was good too. The salad is a big enough portion that can be shared. For the mains we got Angus beef, teriyaki beef, surf and turf. It was all delicious. I would choose the sirloin next time as it was most tender. Don’t forget the veggies inside the pots, especially the potato! So delish. Definitely don’t skip dessert. We got flaming turtle and the original which comes with peanut butter. Wow! We had to get an extra plate of dipping goodies for all of us for $ 5. I’d come back just for the exquisite dessert, yum! Our server was excellent. Service was great. Food was a lovely experience and delicious. Like everyone mentioned, it is a tad overpriced. If you don’t want to spend all this money just come for the dessert, it’s worth it.

I didn’t think I was going to like this place because it gives off the impression of Applebees but with a concept and… meh. I was really wrong about it though. I thought they did a good job of table-side cooking which can just be awkward but it wasn’t — they go fast and efficiently. We got the classic Alpine cheese which I don’t recommend because they put a ton of nutmeg in it and that was kind of gross. I wanted the quatro formaggio but got voted down. The salad was awesome — the wedge has full strips of bacon on it. The entrees were what really won me over — we got an assortment of shrimp, tuna, teriyaki beef, filet, and chicken and they came with six different sauces which blew my mind. I love having a variety of dips so I absolutely loved that. They give some quick instructions about how to cook each one so that made it easy to cook it how you want it. We didn’t get dessert but I would definitely be interested in that — they looked awesome. The only thing I don’t like is the price — we went for one of their special double date nights where it was 99 bucks for four people and you get a cheese, 4 salads, 4 entrée plates and 4 glasses of wine. That seemed worth it but I wouldn’t ever go unless it was for a special.

You ever see those sitcoms where the characters are forced to do something they don’t normally do(play in a band, package chocolates, etc), and it’s clear they have NO idea of what they’re doing? That’s what my experience felt like tonight. Now, don’t get me wrong; I love fondue, and the Melting Pot in particular. I’ve eaten at this chain several times, and I have never been disappointed. Tonight’s debacle was a game changer. I received an email from the Melting Pot(I’m a fan, and on their email list), telling me that every Thursday in April is ladies night — where they have a $ 25.99 menu, and there would be makeovers and psychics. I thought that sounded like fun, so I called up my girlfriend and asked her to go with me. Dining out in a weeknight is a huge luxury for both of us; she’s a married mom of two, and I’m a single mom of one — so planning this night required careful planning and babysitters. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:40 — five minutes before our 7:45 reservation. We were told(rudely), that there would be a fifteen minute wait. No problem, we said; point is towards the makeovers and psychics. The hostess told us we had to have an appointment with the psychic(not mentioned anywhere on their email or website). They weren’t doing makeovers tonight, either — that was next week. I pointed out that her sign said that the makeovers and psychics were both listed on the sign for tonight, and that it was disappointing that their information was misleading. She smiled at me condescendingly and said through a fake smile, «I’m sorry you misunderstood the event.» I’m not sure how I misunderstood what was happening — I was just looking for what they advertised. We had a seat in the lobby, and after half an hour, I inquired politely how much longer it would be(it was 8:15 by this point). The hostess looked at me, sighed, and indicated they had a bunch of tables that wouldn’t leave; but that it shouldn’t be much longer. We were finally sat at our table 50 minutes past our reservation. They sat the two of us at a table for six, next to three very large, very loud parties. We could barely hear one another, which was frustrating. We had two different waitresses come up and assure us someone would be with us shortly — only to have our order taken by the manager. Then finally our waitress came by and took over after the cheese course. She was cute — and really clumsy. She also didn’t turn the heat up for our dinner course — so the cooking times were all off on the food — meaning instead of two minutes to cook the chicken, it was taking between eight and ten. The potatoes were still crunchy. When the waitress finally came back, we asked her about it. She turned up the heat, and the food cooked. The pricing for $ 25.99 was for cheese fondue, a small salad, and dessert. For $ 10 more, we upgraded to include the meat. We should have stuck with the salad. For $ 10, you get approximately four bites of steak, one ounce of chicken, and four shrimp(which I don’t eat), one with broccoli, mushrooms, and potatoes. One more thing: there was no spice to our dinner… not even salt and pepper. The entrée was bland and tasteless; such a disappointment after the awesome cheese fondue. I’m so very disappointed. I expected more from you, melting pot.

I love the Melting Pot! Here’s the deal though. The only time worth going is for some kind of deal night, like Ladies Night Out or Restaurant Week. YES, it’s expensive. BUT, it really doesn’t have to be thaaat expensive. For both of these events, it’s $ 19 for a cheese fondue, salad, and chocolate fondue. Not a bad deal, considering how AMAZING the food is. I’ve heard that the entrees aren’t worth the price because you basically just use the fondue pots to cook them yourself– they’re not dipped in delicious cheese or anything. I’ve never needed to worry about that though, since they give you enough food to leave you absolutely stuffed from just the other three courses! Every time I’ve been there my friend and I have never even been able to finish all the desserts because we’re so full. Anyway, I’m a huge fan. I will never pay full price because they do enough deals where that really won’t ever be necessary, but the food is so excellent that it is well worth my $ 20. Cheese, salad, and chocolate are perfect! Definitely worth saving the money and just not getting an entrée, because like I said, the rest definitely filled me up and then some!

The Melting Pot is not a restaurant, it’s a dining experience. You walk in and you can expect to remain there for the next three hours. It’s a pricey place but the quality and the experience is worth every cent. Five stars for me is extremely rare but this place earned it. It was my birthday when we went. The complimentary valet leaves you with a VIP feeling, and the valet staff are the friendliest I’ve met. He introduced himself and remembered exactly who I was and what car I drove in with when I left three hours later. We had a reservation so the hostess escorted us to the table, the waitress was extremely friendly… Knowledgable. And very pleasant. She took the time to chat with our group, share experiences at the restaurant that helped us navigate the menu. We all got the four step experience, which is their crown jewel. She also explained how she would cook the food in front of us and was very assertive in pointing out the safety tips. The soup, salad, and cheese dip arrived very quickly and was absolutely. Our glasses were never empty either. When the raw food arrived we all excitedly dove into the culinary experience of cooking our own food. One of our friends had an accident where he dropped his food on the table. The bus staff saw to it that he still got a chance to enjoy a replacement for the lost piece of meat. Just prior to dessert the staff surprised me(not in the loud distracting way) with a candle and some chocolate covered strawberries. When the dessert came, we got the chocolate fondue and banana foster fondue. Both to die for!!! One member of our party really liked the Rice Krispie cubes so they brought more for him. Again, this place is a bit pricey, and I would not suggest this place for small groups of people unless it’s an anniversary date. For three hours, you’re gonna want a large group of people to pass the time. The quality and service at this restaurant was just incredible. Kudos to the team and thank you for the fantastic service! Best birthday dining ever.

Melting pot is a great restaurant not so much to get stuffed with food, but instead more of a sophisticated atmosphere for groups to socialize in. Get all the courses you want paired with drinks and enjoy! Don’t forget to get the pocket book this place is pricey! However, nothing a big group can’t handle. The server takes your order and will bring your meat choices raw. They will then give you a choice between broth and oil to cook your meat in.(Broth all the way) try the chocolate fondue with fruits and delicious sweet carbs! My personal favorite is the rice crispy cubes dipped into the chocolate! You won’t be disappointed with any decision you make her. After a long week it’s well worth a night out at the melting pot!

The Melting Pot in Troy is the type of place that you must try at least once. One recurring theme I’ve heard about them is that the dessert is superior to the cuisine and while I agree, it doesn’t detract from how good the food actually is. It’s just that the chocolate fondue is absolutely & outrageously fantabulous and they give you fun stuff like rice crispy treats to dip into it =) The overall ambiance has a very nice vibe with dim lighting and a fairly decent bar in the back which comes in handy should you arrive to a half hour wait like we did on a recent Saturday night. After sipping on wine and beer served by a fairly arrogant and lackluster bartender, the birthday girl and I were seated in an intimate booth that had a lush red paisley backsplash. For some reason, there was a volume knob for the music behind us and we had a server come and turn it down a few notches after we turned it up, lol. I forgot our servers name but she was extremely outgoing and did a wonderful job of guiding us through the elaborate 4-course process of dining here. We exchanged friendly banter with her all night. We selected the Land and Sea with chicken, steak and shrimp. Good quality meat and seafood from what I could tell although the portions were far from large. The cheese we chose was very sharp, I wish we would have gotten something spicier or slightly less zesty. The cooking option we went with was called Mojo and again, I’d go in another direction next time because it was a little too basic and salty in my opinion. On our next occasion here, I think we’ll go another route like the one with ron burgandy wine. As others have mentioned, this is an ideal destination to take a date or to have fun with a small group of friends. We definitely had an enjoyable time and will come back in the near future.

Update! Came here today for Troy Restaurant Week, with 1 Melting Pot newbie and 1 who had been before but only for the cheese and chocolate fondue. We had a fantastic time and $ 15 for a 3-course meal is a steal. Pros: food was fantastic, decent service, nice atmosphere. Cons, which knocks it from a 5-star to 4-star: bathroom was a bit messy and running out of TP, there was a draft in the restaurant coming from somewhere and if I hadn’t been wearing a long-sleeved tee, I would’ve been freezing. I’d definitely come back here though. Going to take my mom to the Novi location next month for some chocolate birthday fondue, that’s the only area location I haven’t been to(been here and to A2 a few times).
