Troy Vision Center

I’ve been going to Troy Vision for a few years after deciding Empire Vision was just not giving me any personal attention or care and my vision was suffering from it. I find the doctors at Troy Vision to be top notch — they are professional and take the time to talk with you and answer any questions. The rest of the staff is also very helpful, especially when choosing glasses which can be hard by yourself. I’ve always been happy with my selections and the overall experience at Troy Vision.

After visiting Empire Vision Centers, I remarked that there was a lack of connection between the doctor and the patient. The process is so streamlined that you almost feel as though you’re in an assembly line. While I was writing my review, I was worried that my expectations were just too high or unrealistic. However, my experience at Troy Vision Center confirms that it’s not crazy to expect to feel valued by your optician.
I was impressed at how friendly everyone is, from the receptionist to the girl that did my preliminary exam to the optometrist. I got the impression that everyone there really enjoys their job. They have some equipment that Empire doesn’t have, such as a machine used to automatically estimate your prescription and a machine that tests your peripheral vision.
The optometrist was so amazingly friendly and caring. I was surprised that my prescription had decreased because I stare at computers all day, but she explained that although there’s controversy about the effect of computer screens on vision, there’s no pr oven correlation. Staring at a computer screen mostly tires the muscles in your eyes but doesn’t really effect your vision. I was impressed that she said this, because most optometrists I’ve been to play up the hype about how bad computers are for our eyes.
The optician who helped me pick out my frames was not in a hurry to up-​sell me at all. In fact, he helped me pick out a pair of frames similar to the Gucci frames I was eying, but in a much more affordable range.
I was able to pick up my glasses within two weeks, and I’ve been very happy with my glasses so far. I look forward to being a regular patient at Troy Vision.
