I was staying at a hotel across the street and thought I’d try it out. Very friendly and helpful staff. I like how you start off being offered samples. I ordered the lobster bisque and the mtb sandwich. The food was pretty good. Nothin out of this world but good and filling. Only complaint would be the balsamic dressing was kind of sweet for my taste. Prices were good too. I feel like I got a lot of food for what I paid. Very clean restaurant. I’ll eat here again if I’m in the area!

I went to get my favorite chicken veggie chop chop soup today and was so disappointed. To start with, the teenagers running this shop don’t seem to care about speed. There were three of them and we waited a long time to order. The poor couple in front of us sat and waiting forever for their sandwiches and salads to be made, all the while watching their soup get cold on the side. It seemed to take a very long time to make a salad. One young man(who greeted us when we came in) seemed to be the only one trying to move at a normal pace. I assume he is new because we overheard him saying«well if you teach me how, I can help». Overall their speed and pep could be altered. When we got home I got my soup out and noticed it was a lot darker than before. I tasted it and although the flavor was ok, the chicken veggie chop-chop was more like chicken veggie slop-slop. I have added a picture. It was so congealed together that it was like eating sludge. Luckily my boyfriends meal was good, but disrupted, when I had to make myself something to eat when I got home.

This is one of my favorite locations to go to. The food is always good and the atmosphere is great. They just recently remolded the inside and it looks very modern. Great food and definitely great customer service.

The food was just as you would expect, maybe better. I had the potato cheddar soup with the chicken tuscano sandwich. Both were very good. I’d rate the food a 4.5 out of 5. The young girl Kelly? Who answered the phone was lovely. She was very helpful and had knowledge of the food and was a great help taking my order over the phone. My only issue was the 2 people up front including the manager Joe, weren’t wearing gloves and that is a guarantee health code violation. He was pouring soup into different cups and wiping the excess off with his finger and then wiping that off on his apron. Absolutely unprofessional. He also looked like he hadn’t bathed in days. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t want him serving up my food… in my opinion the girl who answered the phone should have been manager. The star rating is not for service or food quality/quantity. It is for the lack of professionalism from the manager and his other employee. There is no reason not to be wearing gloves when your other 2 employees are.

Food and taste wise I would give this location a 5 every visit. The order isn’t ever incorrect and the soup is always hot and fresh tasting. Everything else is terrible. Most of the staff are unwelcoming and if you order anything other than soup except to wait a minimum of 10 minutes no matter how busy they are. I waited one time 20 minutes for an employee to finish the sandwich part of my order, while the soup was sitting on a tray getting cold. The general manager(i don’t remember her name) is friendly and always quick with getting orders both taken an delivered, but is usually not there. I come in between 2 – 3 and the location always looks like they just had a huge rush(tables dirty, garbage full), with multiple employees just standing around not doing anything. I visit this location consistently(2 times per week) as it is closer to my work and the soup is amazing. The food has kept me coming back but I think i’ll hold off for a couple months and see if the somerset location is any better.

Tried this place for the first time for lunch. When I got to the counter I noticed the guy preparing the meals didn’t have any gloves on. He filled the soup bowls up with a ladle, but touched the rims of the bowl with his hands and wiped them on his dirty apron. Maybe I’m too picky but to me that was kind of gross. I ordered the mushroom barley soup and my friend got tomato. We also shared the cheese and pesto sandwich. The portions were good, and I thought my soup was edible but pretty bland. My friend said her soup tasted like pasta sauce. We both agreed the sandwich had 10x the amount of pesto it really needed. We both left without finishing our soups, and agreed we’ll probably stick to Panera.

I’ve been here twice now, both times because I had a free soup coupon — once they had a promotion on their Facebook page, and this time I got a mailer from them. Both times I got the chicken pot pie soup, with the crumbles on top, and it was delicious! This time I got a side of bread with my order too, and you can choose from French bread, whole wheat, or sourdough; I chose French bread. I had it with a little bit of butter at home, and that was tasty too. Zoup’s prices do seem a little high(about $ 4.95 for the soup size I got, which was an 8 oz. serving) but the quality is good. They also have sandwiches and salads too.

The best 7 dollars I’ve ever spent on a bowl of soup! Sampled the Thai curry chicken soup and it was delicious. But I really had my mind on the tomato basil and I’m loving every spoonful of it! First time here and it will not be the last! Love soup, love Zoup!

I was at Zoup today and disappointed to hear a manager or owner berate his entire staff that was seated in the section near the soup counter. The gentleman was very negative and rude to several employees and so loud that every customer in the facility could hear him criticizing employees in his staff meeting. I have always been impressed with the great staff at Zoup, but this guy that«just got back from Canada» was so unprofessional. His lack of class during his staff meeting in front of customers will make be think twice about returning to the business. Great restaurant but the leadership at the top needs to learn some customer service skills. His behavior was embarrassing and shameful. If the owner of the chain is reading this, please do something about your poor leadership on Maple Road. My kids love Zoup and I hope this matter is taken seriously and a more suitable place is found for a staff meeting and management training is made available to the gentleman that ran the staff meeting.

Zoup = soup! I like soup, it’s my comfort food. This location is newly remodeled, as in less than a month ago. Not much changed but it has been freshened up a bit. Here’s what I like about zoup. They have a vast selection of soups to chose from which change daily. You can access their daily menu online before going to see if they have something you like. All of their soups are clearly marked for dietary concerns, meaning they let you know which soups are dairy free, gluten free and vegetarian. I think in today’s day and age that is a really nice feature plus it saves them from millions of annoying questions I’m sure. I have a few standards that I enjoy, some of which I can no longer eat. Some of their soups are very unique as well and they always let you sample before deciding. Please please please Zoup make your lobster bisque gluten free and I will be a happy girl! Here’s what I don’t love about Zoup, everything other than the soup. I’ve tried their sandwiches(in the gluten days) and their salads and they just aren’t great. Panera has mastered that niche and Zoup hasn’t reached that standard yet. But I go for the soup and I’m ok with that.

I love the soup and salad concept. One of my greatest losses moving from the Chicagoland area was Sweet Tomatoes, a restaurant concept serving up unlimited soups and salads in a changing medley of delicious, seasonal offerings. Zoup gets about the closest to their soup, stew, and chili variety. The concept here is pretty straightforward. Zoup has a soup bar with multiple standard soups and several changing offerings. Choices include the standard fare of such venues — tomato/vegetable, beef barley, and broccoli cheddar — with a few ethnic options thrown in, like an ettouffee, bison chili, and Singapore squash. These keep the menu interesting and not the same old, same old like at a certain bread company I can think of. Soups come in several different sizes to match your favourite Goldilocks portion. Selection when it comes to sandwiches is considerably narrower, with three or four turkey/chicken options, but appeals to vegan and gluten-free diet restrictions. Mixing and matching to meet your preferences is straightforward, and nutrition values are posted on their website as well as in the store to make an informed lunch choice. Salads are considerably more jazzy, all of them built on a base of romaine lettuce, thrown together with all kinds of vegetables and dressings. With this kind of selection, it should be a match made in heaven. You get a complimentary bread roll(whole wheat, sourdough, or white) to go with your soup on most orders. Drinks are fountain style with a number of other options in a case. But I find myself willing to make the trip to Zoup over Panera or other competitors, like the Whole Foods bar, less and less. What happened? It’s so salty. The products seem excessively salted, especially salad dressings and soups. I thought my taste buds were oversensitive or maybe it was my choice of soup, but after three or four consecutive visits, it’s not just me. Nor am I alone — my beau felt the same about his otherwise tasty squash soup, that the salt content really cut through the flavour. We were both sucking down more of our beverage than we normally would and he couldn’t finish his soup. Mine was a little better, being a thinner broth base. Spices and herb seasonings seem to be down too. The chili wasn’t blazing as advertised, more a smoky simmering. I steer clear of the creamier soups in general, finding them to be in dire need of a pinch of nutmeg or pasta sprinkle, something. The flavour isn’t quite there at the level I want, and bringing my own spice shaker defeats the purpose of dining out. Service at this particular location has been spotty throughout my visits. Sometimes it’s great, and other times, I feel like the staff is fairly slow to deliver even with two or three customers tops in the store. Weekends seems to be more consistent. TIP: Zoup sits in an outlet mall beside Jax’s Car Wash, across from Whole Foods on Maple. If you find Estia, it’s in the same area.

This is a great way to enjoy a hot meal on this cold windy fall day. Eating split pea soup is delicious by my standards. Looking out the window perched on a café stool is relaxing and comfy on this day. The soup and ambience of this place is great!

Good atmosphere, great customer service, and fantastic tasting soups and sandwhiches. Decently priced, very affordable. Although I rated it 4⁄5(because I am still a fan of this establishment), I cannot give it a full 5-stars. Recently, I was told by a staff member at the Troy location that my punchcard(the one you get for buying 8 products and getting a free TryTwo! Combo), is no longer valid and that they have ceased doing this. I haven’t been to this Zoup! since. I am a firm believer in rewarding customer loyalty, and for as much as I have spent at this location(getting lunch as much as 3 – 4 days in a week over a month and a half), it really felt like a betrayal. If Zoup! were to reinstate some kind of loyalty program again, I would happily continue getting my lunch here every week.

Way over priced. Sandwich wasn’t bad couldn’t eat the soup because it was like eating a spoon full of salt. And took forever to get order. Me and a co worker ordered separately online under two different names and they decided not to make one because they were to similar. Soooo people can’t order the same meal? Thank you for reaching out after posting this review

I hate to be negative because I’m sure the management is excellent considering how nice the place is. Music is soothing, area well designed and lacking nothing. Nevertheless staff hit many of my pet peeves. They seemed displeased to serve me, they didn’t listen to me and lady spoke in such Ebonics that I felt awkward asking what she said again and again and again. I don’t want to feel like this when I pay for lunch. Food good as always. Even if the soup is pre-packaged, it still tastes excellent and poses great quality to me.

It used to be one of my all-time favorites!!! Zoup! Man, it’s been YEARS! I worked at Royal Oak Medical Center for about 3 years and was working there when Zoup first opened. I was in love. I’m a soup junkie. I couldn’t get enough! I quit that job and started working farther away from Zoup, and kinda never looked back. I kept waiting for them to open one closer to where I am now, but no such luck. I decided to make the longish trek from my current job over there last week, fingers crossed I wasn’t late coming back. I walk in and very confused girl looks at me and says«you can’t order anything for like 5 minutes because they are counting out the register.» HUH? At 2 pm? Another woman walked in behind me and was told the same thing. She asked the girl could we at least try some samples and make up our minds while we wait? She then said«yeah» and then looked down and said«well, this one and this one and this one aren’t out here right now…» This girl HAD to be new. She had the woman behind me so confused I thought she was gonna hightail it outta there! So, there I stand, looking at the soup I want to order, but can’t order it. She asks a guy who walks out into the register area if he knows when we can order. He COMPLETELYIGNORESHERTWICE. Talk about teamwork. She shrugs at us and goes in the back. A guy walks out with a register drawer, completely ignores both of us who are standing there, puts the drawer back in. The girl, with another girl this time, comes back out and asks him if it’s ok to use the register now. He looks at them, says nothing, and walks back in the back. At this point I’m feeling pretty sorry for all of us. I know I’m gonna be late now, but fuck it, I’m here. I order the lobster bisque, which should be called crawfish bisque to avoid the confusion of there being really no lobster meat at all, but all crawfish. Although crawfish is mentioned in the description, it’s still misleading if you ask me. You still get sourdough, multigrain, or a piece of French bread. The girl that waited on me was nice, and she did offer me a free large pop for my wait(which the other girl didn’t offer the other customer who waited too), and I got back to work as fast as I could. The soup tasted OK, but it wasn’t heated through and there were clumps of it that weren’t not supposed to be there, like just showing off that its packaged soup. This was very disheartening, and for sure, I’ll never go back now, unless I’m in the area, which is pretty much never. /Soup

A regular dinner spot. Always good, always friendly, and always fast. The only low spots are the menu, the menu and the hours. 1) menu– they vary the soups but tend to group the good ones on 1 day theb group the bad ones on the next by that I mean the bad… bean soups they’re bean heavy on days. The all the good nonbean soups are offered at the same time. So if you go on bean day good luck. 2) Menu– On multiple occasions the website lists the wrong soups. So after traveling to get it I’m disappointed at that is an old menu 3) Hours– They close too early. Like 8PM, and even earlier on Sunday. If they iron out those wrinkles they’d deserve that 5th star.

Zoup, as a whole is pretty good. They have great products at decent prices. The variety each location has on a daily basis is impressive. I enjoy being able to make my decision on the daily updated website before heading over. Plus each soup is marked with dietary restrictions. As a dairy free person, I love not second guessing my food choices. This location is a hot mess. It took 16 minutes to get a cup of soup. Everyone was at their stations, but nothing was getting accomplished. The soup guy would offer a free sample to everyone in line, but would not actually pour a whole cup of soup for an order. While we ate our soup, we watched more chaos develop. The cashier guy disappeared and a new guy in a jacket appeared behind the counter. He fed himself sample after sample while welcoming everyone new in line. However, he would not take any orders. He just ate and said hi. Customers just stood there. Finally(like quite a while later) sandwich man stopped making sandwiches to take orders. I enjoy Zoup’s products, but will not be returning to this location.
