I got a bridesmaid dress online and the company sewed the arm hole on the dress way to small. It was cutting off circulation. Any way the only alternative was to have the dress altered into a strapless and Anne did an amazing job. She told me that she had never done it before but all I can say is wow. The same thing happened to one of the other bridesmaids and she also had her dress altered down in Sacramento and it did not turn out well at all but she didn’t have enough time to get it refixed. I highly recommend bring any sewing needs to Mountain Honey Stitchery especially if you want it done right the first time!

So I’m actually really upset that Unilocal has hidden the negative reviews. Because if I would have seen them, I would not have came in and saved myself from a whole lot of stress. This will most likely be a long review because I am so angry. So if you don’t want to read my horrible experience, here are the keynotes: rude employees, no communication, your stuff will be done when they feel like it, I mean if you’re lucky enough to get your items done ATALL(DONOTBOTHERIFYOUNEEDANITEMASAP), they do not answer the phone or return messages, GOTORENO for your alternations, oh and RUDEEMPLOYEES. First of all, do not bother calling them. They screen their phone calls. I came in on a Wednesday to get two skirts and one shirt taken in. As soon as I walked in, something was off about this place. The red head who works here told me to head to the dressing home and put my stuff on. I then asked her where I should meet her and she responds with«what? I’m doing something right now.» Um ok. Bad day? I understand we all have those. Any who, as she begins pinning my clothing, it was beyond awkward. There was literally no communication. It seemed like She was rushing as she did her«thing.» As we finished and I began to fill out my information, she told me that most stuff usually takes 1 week but if I gave her a $ 25 deposit, it would guarantee it. So 1 week rolls on by and I call the store. No answer. I call the store at least 8 times. No answer. So I finally drive in around 4pm. The two ladies that were working didn’t even greet me. One was on the sewing machine in the back and the other was on the computer. When I asked about my order, the lady looks on the computer and informs me that their seamstress in Tahoe City is still working on it. So I begin to panic since I leave the next day for vacation. I tell her my situation and how I’ve been calling all day and she admits that they do not answer phone calls, they just return messages. Ok. Weird. And bad for business. She ends up calling the seamstress to inform her about my situation and to make sure my order is done by the next morning. No answer. And I don’t understand why they don’t work on items in the store. So she leaves a message with the seamstress and ENSURES me that my items will be done the next morning and to stop on by when they open. The next morning rolls around and I call again and leave a message since this drive to the store is now annoying. I wait about an hour. No call back. So I drive to the store. Once again no greeting. When I ask about my items, the red head calls the seamstress who guess what? Is about to leave Tahoe city. Wonderful. So I sit. And wait. Even though she offered to «give me a call» when she got in. Ha. Good one lady. About 35 mins roll on by and in walks the seamstress. As I approach the counter to collect my items and finish payment I see my clothes with all the pins still attached. The red head asks me «Would you like to bring them back in when we aren’t so busy and when you have enough time?» I respond with«NO. SINCE I AMSUPPOSETOBEWEARINGTHESEARTICLESOFCLOTHINGTOMORROWNIGHT» she responds with«Would you like a refund?» OBVIOUSLY. I take my money and leave before I literally flip out. Hey guys. Thanks for nothing.

Anne and Mountain Honey Stitchery did the alterations on my wedding dress as well as a few of my bridesmaids’ dresses and we couldn’t be happier. After having such a bad experience at David’s bridal when buying my wedding dress, I did not want to have them do the alterations on my dress or give them any more of my business. I heard about Mountain Honey from my boss, and I am grateful for the recommendation. I love supporting local business and female business owners, and it is so conveniently located. I called ahead and was told to come on down whenever I was ready. I came by with my dress, she had me put it on, pinned the areas that were needed, took down my info and I was out of there in no time. She said she would have my alterations done in a couple weeks, and called me promptly as soon as it was ready-right on schedule and a month before my wedding so I didn’t have to stress if we needed to make any more adjustments. I was able to just go down the street, try my dress on which was perfect, and left after paying much less than David’s bridal would have charged me and I didn’t have to drive all the way to Reno. The shop itself has some really great fabrics and I’m sure I will be back soon.

There is nothing that Anne and her team can’t fix! I would highly recommend Mountain Honey Stitchery to anyone who needs repairs, alterations, unique sewing projects or lessons! Anne is so patient and knowledgeable. *My grandmother was Bridal seamstress and how come EVERYBRIDE always complains about her dress? Get over it Carolyn
