They have a great soup and salad bar. They make 3 different varieties of soup everyday and I haven’t had one I didn’t like. I had crimini soup tonight and if was delicious. The sandwiches are made with very fresh ingredients. Best to order sandwiches ahead of time if you don’t want to wait during lunch time. The market offers a great variety of bulk foods, fresh vegetable and fruits, as we’ll as vitamins and a wide selection of natural beauty products. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

If you’re in the area buy everything here. It is good for you and worth the extra money. My fav is the almond butter machine… buy only what you need!

Wow this place is something else! They have fresh everything I bought strawberries that were from Santa Cruz strawberrie farm. Also ordered a delicious sandwich. The staff is very friendly. Have a lot of organic and local grown produce. Slightly expensive.

Thank goodness there’s a great place where we can buy some fresh produce, seitan, and some good coffee. Love this place. You can tell the staff really cares and is very helpful. They have a coffee bar and kitchen too.

I came upon New Moon by accident — my husband was playing golf at Coyote Moon and I took a drive looking for some snacks. I was amazed at the terrific selection and made myself a huge salad from the salad bar. The«mock tuna» nut pâté was incredible. I enjoyed sitting out in the sun on your patio eating my salad and reading my new copy of Vegan Health and Fitness. Then I went back in and bought some of your vegan potato salad from your deli, a variety of nut cheeses, and some Tofurkey for a sandwich later. I even got a tee shirt to take home.

I happily got lost in this grocery store during a quick weekend trip to Truckee. Their bulk section is beautiful, clean & well organized. I didn’t get to try to juice or deli, but it looked amazing. I wish I could transplant them down here!

Great selection of vegan grocery items and a great soup/salad bar. All of the dressings at the salad bar are house made and most are vegan. There is always at least one vegan soup on offer. I’ve ordered a build your own sandwich several times now from the deli and while the sandwich is usually delicious, the service is not consistent and not always accurate. I’ve had sandwiched come out with missing ingredients, or added ingredients, but the worst was when I got plain, uncooked tempeh right out of the package. The inconsistency of the deli is the only thing preventing a five star rating from me.

Great alternative selection of foods youd not get at the mega chain across the way. Surprised to find a good selection of charcuterie and cheeses. Caffeine, packaged stuff, bulk goods… everything for your healthy lifestyle. Friendly staff and a bounty of unique stuff.

UPDATE: So I did go back… Out of necessity for vitamins… And Wow, just wow not only was the«person» in charge condescending when I asked about a brand of shampoo(one I’ve been using for 5 years) I was told it wasn’t carried by that store and only she had carried it(I don’t know what that means???) I just keep trying and this place is such an EPICFAIL… As of yesterday I will never be returning to this business. I have lived in the area for about 5 years now and always do my best to support local businesses, especially the organic markets. the staff at New Moon are some of the most unwelcoming and pretentious young people I have encountered in the Lake Tahoe area. I don’t really even know where to begin. But to put it simply; if you’d like to have your day ruined go in there! They will gladly make you feel not worthy of there hipster food and then give you a dirty look after spending 100 $ because they have to put whatever small number of things you PURCHASED, for an obscene amount, into a(heaven forbid) non re-usable bag. Thank you for the worst customer service I have ever received and repeatedly for years!

Fresh juice bar, awesome sandwiches, fantastic organic food, produce and vitamin/body/essential oil products. All natural — great local spot!

Very friendly and attentive staff; small grocery store with a great selection of everything you need(even fresh cuts of meat or cheese) — it reminded me a little of the Whole Foods-kind of grocery stores — just without the WF price tags. You can get all your groceries here(instead of from Safeway across the street) and have done good for local farmers and businesses(such as Truckees Whole Treats Bakery).

I am updating my review because New Moon took action to address my concerns. I received a message from the owner a few weeks after I wrote my review. He apologized for what had happened to me. I felt confused because I responded to his message twice and never heard back. I don’t know if there is some restriction in the Unilocal system that did not allow him to respond to my messages. After I wrote my review, New Moon changed«Locals Day» to «Customer Appreciation Day» and began to include all customers in its special monthly offer. I greatly appreciate that my concerns were addressed. So I have started to patronize this store again. I very much appreciate that all the produce is organic and that many organic vegan products are offered that I cannot find at Safeway. For even greater store in the future, I would request expansion of the vegan product line. For example, would love to see this store carrying Chao vegan slices and artisan vegan«cheeses.» Would love to see Evergreen organic frozen wheat grass and fully organic tortillas. Overall though, this store is wonderful to have in an area where the restaurants don’t seem to «get it» yet about offering vegan options. Thank you :)

They have everything I could need. The only reason I didn’t rate it 5 is its a bit expensive.

Good selection of natural foods and bulk items. They had vegan marshmallows which I often find difficult to find at smaller Natural Food Markets. The staff was friendly on my two visits.

Holy cow! Was I happy to find this place! I was desperate for a salad(road trip, and too much fast food indulgence). The salad bar is a super fresh organic hippy dream come true. I am so enjoying it I felt I had to praise this little grocery store. Check this place out. Coffee/smoothie bar, organic deli, beautiful produce and prepared foods.
I also picked up a delicious looking chocolate moose for later. :)

Prices are comparable to Von’s across the street on dairy and meat products but the quality of the selection is far superior. They had Neiman ranch bacon for under $ 7, local grass fed ribeye steaks for a reasonable price and the artisan cypress grove chèvre was comparably priced at under $ 5 to the mass produced stuff at Von’s. We did splurge on the sheeps milk ice cream, $ 9 for a pint, but how often do you get to try ice cream made from sheeps milk? They also had goats milk and sheeps milk yogurt that we picked up and some Strauss milk in a glass bottle. We had a really gourmet haul of high quality products.

We were super happy to find this place in the middle of Truckee. The selection isn’t so bad. They have the organic gluten-free necessities to help one survive the snow. Parking is ample and free. The store is clean and stacked with the varieties that you would usually have to drive around looking for parking, adding to your carbon footprint going to Whole Foods to find. We were able to find great snacks in this clean, small grocery store.

Both the Truckee store and the Tahoe City store sell a chocolate mousse, made by Uncommon Kitchen: It’s really, really good.
