A little pricey for parking and fuel. Jet A 3 X as much as California in general. Has restaurant in the terminal. No real VIP area for clients.

Ok this airport has some good things about it. For example, new facility, café, rental cars, and even rental bikes. As a result of all this stuff they are extremely expensive for the little guy flying in. They also charge a huge fee to park your own car in there parking lot! Just seams a little excessive to me. I would rather fly to south Lake Tahoe.

***100*** Been waiting for a special place for this 100th review. Recent stay in Truckee, wanting to place an offer on a new house in the Bay Area, and unable to review and sign docs due to broken-down wifi at our rental. So what to do when you need to park it in front of a laptop and have 2 hungry children who want to play? To the airport we go! 1) Playtime: New playground and grassy area for the tots. Perfect view of the planes coming and going. 2) Eat: Red Truck Restaurant. The food is fresh, well-done, and deeeeelicious. Naan was so fluffy and the 2 year old devoured her quiche. Service is super friendly. 3) For the Grown-Ups: Free wifi and plenty of seating so the hubs and I could simultaneously work on our computers and sign all docs from our realtor. End result: Tired and full children who slept most of the ride back to the Bay Area and by the time we arrived home, our offer had been accepted! Forever grateful to the Truckee airport for it’s appeal to all ages and being instrumental to getting us our brand new home :)

The folks working here are excellent, they really went out of their way to help me out when my plane left me stranded in a snow squall. Aviation has always had a great community, and these guys really set the bar.

Brand spanking new facilities! Nice easy in and out — but can get a little busy when the gliders are in operation. My only«complaint» is the bathrooms. It would be really nice to have a few items in there so upon landing we could refresh a bit. The bathrooms are just that… bathrooms. No niceties(personal accoutrement that other small airports have — Thinking of Santa Barbara)

Have had good experiences at this airport, although it is located close to Northstar(hills) and with VFR need to have experienced pilots knowing where to look. Can be bumpy with pressure change coming over mountains.

This is an uncontrolled airport that gets busy in the summertime. They have a staff that monitors and responds to wind and weather questions when you are flying in. The café is great for sandwiches and breakfast. They offer fuel truck service. You should be familiar with mountain flying and the winds create a challenge at times. They are building a new terminal building and the runways are new. There is an fbo on the field that can do some service, however the hours start a bit late. The only criticism is that the guys who staff the CTAF and the airport assistant manager are not helpful. They treat it like an imposition when you ask them for assistance. This is very uncharacteristic of the aviation world in general. Perhaps attitudes will improve under the new airport manager.

This is a nice little airport in Tahoe. Tie-down your plane and take the free shuttle bus to Northstar for a day of skiing and boarding. It’s also a good spot for mountain training as you get to coordinate with gliders on the second runway without the help of a control tower.
