Oil Can Henry’s

Excellent service. If you come to this location for an oil change you will not be disappointed. I had John take care of my vehicle and I was blown away. Superior knowledge which he demonstrated in such an easy way, never making me feel like he was giving me the runaround. He was extremely courteous and let me know the full condition of my engine. He made recommendations based off his personal experience but was never pushy. Given as I live in Seattle (here visiting family) I can’t make this my regular spot, but I wish I could.

This was the first time I had taken my truck to oil can Henry’s. This experience was very different from other oil change facilities I have been to in the past. When you pull up to the back of the building you wait in your vehicle until they signal you to pull in. Once the bay is open you pull in and remain in your vehicle while they change your oil and try to sell you other products. However the Oregonian for the day was free.
The main tech that worked on the truck seemed very experienced and had a great personality. He didn’t try to upsell me on everything, just the things that he truly thought the vehicle might need.
The price is very reasonable: after an oil change, two extra quarts of oil, and air filter (minus a $ 10 coupon off of Unilocal) I drove away $ 63 less. Pretty decent for an oil change in less than half an hour.

Kevin was amazing. Answered all my questions. Very knowledgable and informative. Appreciate the time these guys put in to make sure you drive away satisfied.

This was the place that everyone said to go because Jiffy Lube is evil. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like much is different. Took my 2013 Ford Focus (22,000 miles) in for an oil change and decide to do the synthetic Castrol EDGE oil. I thought that’d be enough for them to make their commission quotas. Well, they said I should change my transmission fluid and coolant. At 22,000 miles? Don’t think so. The transmissions in this generation of Ford Focus are SEALED units and are only serviceable by Ford. The final bill was $ 102 for what I later discovered I could buy the same Castrol EDGE oil and filter at the local auto supply store for $ 38 and done it myself. I think I will next time. Oh, and despite this being SYNTHETIC oil which can go for as much as 7 or 8 thousand miles without change, they still recommended I come back at 3,000 miles for an oil change. Sad!

I went to the Oil Can Henry’s location off of Capitol Highway a couple days after I got my transmission fluid replaced to make sure everything still looked good.
The Service Rep was friendly and informative; he made me feel secure with the service that was performed. He also noticed there was some transmission fluid on the hood of my car and cleaned it off for me so that my paint wouldn’t be damaged. No charge, of course. I was very pleased and will be inclined to go to this location again!

Tried calling them several times and got a voice mail system that says press 2 for prices which gives a long sales pitch about there oil changes but NO PRICES! Then press 3 to speak with someone which takes you back to 1 which asks what you would like to do which doesn’t matter because NOBODY is HOME! I’ll take my business to someplace I can speak with someone personally. OCH thinks you will just come on down and bring me them money and you will be to tired to go any place else at that point. Another marketing scam, take your hard earned dollars to someone who will actually pick up the phone and speak with you.
And yes I did call during normal business hours.

My check engine light came on at the end of a lonnnng work day. Rolled on in here as they were getting ready to close. Easily could have turned me away (I wouldn’t have faulted them), but went out of their way to help. Sam went beyond and checked my oil, which was low (eeek!) and topped it off at no charge.
I didn’t change my oil here, but was pleasantly surprised by the customer service.

Went in today for oil change. I have been here once before, now I remember why I didn’t go back. Up selling is way over board and then they don’t add fluid to brake reservoir. Left grease and oil on both fenders. See photo I posted.

Every time I come here it’s 35 – 45 min per car. If there’s two cars ahead of you it’s an hour wait minimum. They are slower than the second coming. Just go somewhere else.

As of my first visit I’m liking the attitude and service-​mindedness of the team. They do a bit of salesmanship on the add-​ons, but that’s to be expected.
I had spoken with John last night about coming in to have my oil changed today. I’d realized that I was way overdue for it and he assured me that there would not be much wait, whereas my usual mechanic wouldn’t be able to see my car for a couple of days. So today, I pulled in with just one car ahead of me (one car in each of their two bays) and was greeted by John coming out to handle the check of my lights and the air in my tires. Less than 10 minutes later (probably 5) my car was in the bay and I was answering questions for my technician (Wesley, I believe). They gave me what they said Mazda’s recommendation was for oil as well as their own, and answered my question about their «eco» (re-​refined/​recycled) choice for oil, which I requested. One of my (minor) disappointments was that they didn’t have enough in stock for my oil change.
While I was sitting in my car as they worked on checking the various things, John came by with a huge tin of cookies that one of their vendors had provided to share with customers, and I accepted the offer to take a few. (That ended up carrying me over nicely until dinner time!)
Being late for my oil change, I opted for add-​on oil and fuel system cleaners, but nothing else; they showed me my air filter and cabin air filter, both of which needed replacing but which I opted to wait to do myself. (They very professionally verified and recorded my responses to all of their recommendations, both negative and positive.) John also asked specifically about any problems with my battery, as one connection was completely loose; he showed me the loose connection and tightened it back on.
After I was done and had left, (very satisfied and only dreading the traffic home) I noticed my Traction Control System light was not turning off. Only a few blocks away and stopped in traffic, I called back to John and mentioned it to him. He asked, very eagerly, if I could come back so he could check everything they did to make sure nothing could have affected the TCS. I got back and only waited another 5 – 10 minutes or so (because of the cars that had arrived behind me earlier) before he was able to get me back into the bay. Turning my car back on, the TCS light was no longer lit, but he and his team checked everything they had done to be sure nothing was loose, and John recalled showing me the battery connection. By this time I had also discovered, in my driver’s manual, that there was mention of the TCS having to be reset if the battery was disconnected or a fuse blew. While the indicator lights had not behaved in the way the manual described, John and I agreed that this was the most likely reason for the light to have come on immediately after the service. Still, I was very impressed that he went out of his way to get me back in and to spend time re-​checking all of what they had touched on my car, just to be sure everything was in good order.
Right now, after just one visit to a kind of business I have not used before, I’m definitely a fan. If I get more experience with other oil change services, versus using my mechanic – or even if I decide to just continue trusting this location – I’m willing to bet that they’ll prove to be «As good as it gets!»

literally not only the best oil can henry’s I’ve been to, but the best oil change experience I have ever had. the employees were kind and helpful and went out of their way to help the customer. normal oil change businesses are sometimes shady and will try to squeeze money out of you, but the employee here saw that the oil was fairly new (my current sticker was wrong) and that I didn’t need a change (saving me 40 bucks). he had no obligation to tell me this but he did and shows the integrity of this business. friendly, quick service — definitely recommend it for your next oil change!

Work in Tualatin down the street from this Oil Can Henrys. My headlight went out, needed it fixed asap. Stopped by after work, they fixed it super quick. The Manager was very professional and so was the team. I went away super happy and i could see the other customers did too. Great service. I live in Sellwood but will make sure to visit those guys again. Told my co workers and friends about my experience. Great job :-)

I started going here purely because I love those cute little hats and bow ties they make the tech’s wear, but I keep coming back because they are way better than J.Lube. They charge a bit more but make less errors, and they always give me a newspaper to read while I wait. So I think it’s worth it. This location is kind of hidden, but I never have to wait long and they are always prompt under the hood.

Gave one star because minus stars are unavailable. Stopped in last weekend to get a top off. Was told since I hadn’t been in for several months they would «top off one time». They told me I was good to go. A few days later my oil light went on. Took the car to a reputable mechanic who said I had one quart of oil left with no visible leaking. I have spent a ton of money with this company and will NEVER go back.

I got their special/​signature/​premium service. It was about 45 bucks.
Nothing special. Their way of changing oil is weird compared to other places, but hey, you gotta enjoy the enthusiam.

I’m sorry, but what if I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to see the fluids that go into/​come out of my car? Must I really be subjected to that? And then listening to the crew in their funny little hats yell stuff back in forth throughout the process. For that price (starts higher than plenty of places and goes up from there with every single upsell — I’ve never made it out of there for less than $ 45 even when promising myself I won’t be upsold), I ought to have the option NOT to watch NOT to listen to people yell stuff and NOT to be shown fluids and NOT to be forced to make all kinds of decisions. Just change the bloody oil, don’t charge me more than about $ 20, shut up while you are doing it, take off those funny hats, and please, let’s not discuss it unless something is literally falling off of/​pouring out of my car.
The only reason there are even two stars is because they gave me a «free» newspaper, and even when I didn’t let them sell me whatever special potion for my supposedly elderly car, it still ran fine even after I drove away — as fast as I could.
