I came here for help finding toddler shoes. I arrived on a Sunday to find no customers and thought we’d be able to get the best help. This wasn’t true. The lady who«helped» us seemed like she would rather continue talking to her friends. After waiting she incorrectly measured my child’s foot(by a whole size!) and basically told me which shoes I should buy. The selection may be of equal par to Payless or Stride Rite but it’s so old and so outdated that when I Googled the shoes they sold most were available for under $ 10 on eBay. I found one shoe that was made over 5 years ago marked at $ 70. That’s just not reasonable when a kid can go through 8 pairs of shoes in a half a year. The real issue seemed to not only be that this woman was unable to help but she was also unable to follow our wants and needs. She just refused to bring some shoes out and never really mentioned them again. She seemed unaware of which shows ran big or wide. She then directed us to a table of very old shoes with ties laces(toddlers don’t do tie laces) and then to downstairs. Where they sell marked, dirty, even older versions of the shoes they sell upstairs. Another weird issue was the store seemed to really only cater to toddler boys. Wide affordable selection for that gender but no toddler girls. I bet in the 70’s this place was a blast but it was just a waste of time trying to buy sneakers for a toddler.

An answer to the chain discount stores. Good prices, very hepful sales people. A local gem. I have been shopping here for over 25 years.

I like Epsteins. It reminds me of local neighborhood athletic stores before Dicks, Modells and Sports Authority put all the little guys out of business. Visited their store in Tuckahoe for the first time last weekend and purchased two pairs of shoes for my kids from their clearance rack. They carry hard to find GEOX shoes which I like to buy for my kids… even found a pair on clearance for 50 percent off. The sales help wasn’t very helpful but it may have been because I was the last customer, on a Sunday, close to closing time. They have lots of other stuff besides shoes and prices aren’t bad. I’ll be back.

A cherished landmark for good reason– no better place for family basics and sports clothing.

Supporting a local business like Epstein’s is awesome. especially with their friendly service and selection of favorites like Merrell, New Balance and casual clothing.

Epstein’s tag line is «Family Clothier Since 1933.» Entering Epstein’s truly feels like you’ve walked into another era. Epstein’s is a go-to location for families throughout Southern Westchester and beyond, but it’s ideal for anyone seeking a wide range of active wear products. They have an incredible shoe department with every Birkenstock imaginable displayed next to preppy Jack Rogers sandals. You’ll also find a myriad of brands of jeans for adults and kids(there’s a whole basement dedicated to children’s clothing and women’s lingerie). The service is very solicitous and low key. Trying on clothes is a group experience, so be prepared. This is a very unpretentious store that delivers the goods at really reasonable prices. The only thing missing: there are great t-shirts with many of the local Westchester village town names … but where or where is Pelham?
