Chilttepica salsa is spicy and delicious. I first picked it up at one of the farmer’s market events at Mercado San Agustin. I have to say, it made it only 2 days at my house! My dad and I devoured it! I went back tonight and bought yet another container of the stuff. I just can’t get enough. Plus, it’s local so you’re supporting local business too. It’s kept in a cooler inside the cake place, so swing by and grab some. It’s $ 5/container and you get a good amount. YUM!

Without a doubt the best dipping and topping salsa I’ve had in a very long time. I’m told Chilttepica Salsa is made right here in Tucson from the chiltepin pepper, which grows wild in the border region. I went to Thursday’s farmers market at Mercado San Agustin where Chilttepica’s owner features her salsa. She told me they harvest the peppers by hand, then prepare the salsa onsite at Mercado San Agustin’s commercial kitchen. The hot version has a kick, while the mild is packed with fresh tomato and cilantro flavor. Salsa… what an awesome condiment, and Chilttepica in particular will be in my fridge for the long haul.
