Service is slow, slow, slow and food is barely average. Took my mother out for her birthday(75) early on a Sunday night. Myra was our server, we were her only table(!) and took over 5 minutes to take our drink orders. Nine minutes after that(I’m watching the clock on the I-phone, not much else to do with a 75 year old) I hear her give our drink order to the bar, which is 20 ft. away, I should have ordered them myself. About 6 – 7 minutes after that our drinks arrive, to the sound of crickets chirping the whole while. Literally nearly 20 minutes to get drinks in an empty restaurant. The entire while Myra keeps disappearing in the back to take care of who knows what for long periods of time. The older woman who was taking care of water, bread and bussing was doing a good job. Myra could take some lessons from her. Same experience to order and receive our food. My light size(5oz) filet was over salted(I’ll salt my own food thank you) but otherwise good as was the baked potato with butter, bacon, cheese and sour cream on the side. The veggies, squash, were salty kernels of mush. My wife’s light size NY strip looked and tasted like shoe leather. She asked for medium well and it arrived cooked through and through as if they were going to use it as a tire patch. Spend your money(about $ 40 per person with drinks and tip-15%) elsewhere on a good steak dinner.

I am being fair and rating this place against all the fancy steakhouses I have ever been to… it’s not terrible but as the rating suggests. meh. I’ve experienced better. I have no idea why the name of this restaurant is so weird and hard to pronounce… I didn’t even know there was a steakhouse in this place until my friend suggested it. We were attending a conference in this facility and wandered over here after a round of black jack. In terms of steak prices, a little toned down from usual city places. This place was not busy whatsoever. can’t imagine a lot of people coming here to the edge of town to get steak. but that makes sense. The food was okay. not the best steak I have had. something about the steak was not hot but warm. I got a NY strip lighter portion with a mushroom demiglace sauce(which was really NOT good so I got A1 sauce). I also requested for vegetables and so they gave me some steamed broccoli and that was okay. I also got the lobster bisque which she told me was the best she ever had(the waitress) and it turned out being okay as well. Unfortunately, I could tell that the lobster claw was frozen and not fresh. The best part was the stuff that came for free. Well not the amuse bouche. that was also disgusting. it was this bread with mayo and topped with a piece of grilled chilled asparagus. Meh. The best thing was the palatte cleanser and it was a blood orange sorbet. So unfortunately not a huge fan of this spot. but it’s a-ok. There is probably better spots downtown and I would refer you to that instead. Or you can go with the standard Fleming’s, Ruth Chris, Morton’s, etc.

Cu: Kug Gai Ki Steak House at the Desert Diamond Casino has a name you have to stumble over, but it has terrific food in a well appointed surroundings. Good, but not great, service that is substandard in table bussing. Our appetizer plates were still left on the table with our main course and a steak bone on a plate and other main course dishes were left for dessert. Bit too long to get drinks and too long between courses. But it was a busy Saturday night. Fortunately, a delicious garlicky cheesy focaccia bread was served in ample and repeated succession making our wait enjoyable. Especially good with the well priced wine that was offered. For example, a French Bordeaux or Argentine Malbec for $ 30 per bottle. The steaks were superb with the exception of the Aged Center Cut Sirloin. The sirloin was tough and not really tasty. The Filet Mignon was perfect and a pure delight. The Ribs were huge, almost overwhelming, but they won’t set the world on fire. A wide selection of appetizers(13 in all) and desserts that are fairly priced and so large that they MUST be shared. The desserts really shine in taste and in size. Each one looks like a double helping. We shared one among seven of us. Prices are extremely competitive with an eye popping array of entrees: 22 in all ranging from $ 18.95 to $ 69.95(a Chateaubriand for two). More than a half dozen steak options, Prime Rib, Veal, King Crab, Scallops, Pork, Chicken and Salmon. Even American Kobe beef. This is a place where you can eat yourself silly without breaking the bank.
