Desayunos Cora’s is the new Cora’s Café. When I was living in Tucson many moons ago, I use to stop by Cora’s once a week during lunch since I worked not too far away from there near the airport. Those were the good old days. My favorites were the beef tacos, albondigas, and the rice and beans. The tacos were made with ground beef patties. That’s right, they were fried into a patty along with the shell. I’ve never found another place in all my travels that served a taco such as this. The albondigas, or meatball soup, was delicious and full of tasty morsels. The rice was very flavorful, unlike many other mexican joints. Beans were creamy and very flavorful as well. So when I went back the new Cora’s had a tough act to follow. Much to my delight, they still have the Cora spirit. The tacos were still prepared the same way! The tortillas were homemade and soft as butter. The machaca was totally awesome with real dried shredded beef. The albondigas was still very tasty but maybe lacked as much«stuff» as the original Cora’s. The only disappointments were the rice and the salsa that came with the chips. The rice was a bit bland and the salsa was a bit too watery. The service was great and they even served coke AND pepsi in bottles imported from Mexico. Cora’s Café is still alive and well, and well worth the drive to experience them tacos!
