I had Directv in the 1990s through 2000 and had no problems. On November 27, 2015. I called Directv about an offer on the Internet. The person I talked with was giggling and talking with someone else while I was trying to get information on the different packages and fees in the Internet offer. I told her that I was mainly interested in sports and wanted SportsPac and would take the Select package to get it. She first told me the price would be $ 48.49 for the first year but then later changed it to $ 57 and change. The internet offer said $ 19.99 the first year for Select and 13.99 for SportsPac. The ad didn’t say that Directv charges $ 6.50 per month for each TV in the house and $ 15 for the DVR. The ad said the DVR was free but she said the $ 15 per month was for«the service». Despite the deceptive ad, I subscribed and the equipment was installed promptly the next day. When I discovered, on November 29, that the Select package did not include ESPN, I called and arranged to get the Choice Package. When the Directv agent asked me to check that ESPN was now on my system, I told him that I was recording two football games and could not get on ESPN. He said that I had been given a plain DVR rather than the Genie system that is offered on the Internet. He arranged to change the DVR for Genie. The web site said that the first month’s charge is zero but my credit card has been charged for the $ 57 mentioned in the first call. The web site also says that there is a $ 200 gift card awarded to people who sign up for Choice or higher. The agent said that he had to apply to another office to get the gift card approved. Later I got a call saying that the gift card was denied because I had not asked for Choice in the original call. I talked with Directv’s contract office and asked where the contract specified that the offer of a gift card was void if one changed packages after the first call. He could cite no passage supporting such a notion.

Again, problems ordering movies, called 4 times before I got a person, got cut off the first time, then put on permanent hold the second time. These people are terrible at customer service. Great programming but terrible with helping with problems. Still problems ordering movies but the technician discovered that they had set a $$ limit on my ordering. Raised the limit and now I can order them again. Wtf? Why would they do that when I’ve never been late on s payment? So dumb !! Can I give them s negative 5 stars?

If I had any other choice(besides comcast because they are equally horrible) I would not be with direct TV. When I first got direct TV every single morning when I went to watch TV I would have no signal on perfectly sunny days. This happened daily so I called to get therm to send someone out to fix it. However because someone owns the rights to the apartment complex I live in Direct TV couldn’t do anything. They gave me a number to call but when I called the number they claimed they were«sales only» and couldn’t fix my problem, I would have to call direct TV. So I call them back and guess what?! They still couldn’t do anything. I finally got ahold of someone though who said he would send out a technician. But after waiting all morning for the guy to show up, he gets here and tells me he doesn’t have the right tools and he cannot do anything for me. So at this point I’m paying for TV that doesn’t have signal so I’m pissed and just want to cancel. BUT surprise, surprise, both phone numbers I was given to call could not cancel my service because they are«sales only» and the actual direct TV people couldn’t cancel it because of someone owning the rights to our complex I have to cancel it through them. So at this point I can’t cancel either. Luckily, not sure what happened, but, my single came back and I am not able to watch TV. However I wanted to upgrade to a better system so that I can record shows. But, you guessed it! NOONE could help me again… Direct TVSERIOUSLY needs to get better communication between them and their«third party providers» or whoever they are that owns the rights to these complexes because I have no choice living here in which TV provider I use so the least they can do is provide good customer service!

I published an issue about direct tv the other day. I am pleased to say they changed my opinion of them even with the problem I encountered. They are working hard to improve themselves. The fact that they read my survey and called me directly to discuss my concerns proves it. This is rare as most companies ignore the surveys or they look at 1 or 2 each week. For DDTV, as large as they are, to be looking so closely at the surveys and to call me personally is a tribute to their efforts. Keep up the good work DDTV.

As many others have said, the customer service with DirecTV is terrible. I have had many billing errors from them over the years. When you call DirecTV the hold times are extensive, and after holding, you will be transferred from person to person, having to repeat everything all over again. Charges mysteriously increase over time. I have switched and will not be back to DirecTV. In addition to the billing and customer service problems, the installers did not even clean up after drilling holes in the wall; they just left the drywall dust all over the floor.

Husband is currently furloughed through his government job. Tried to ask for help in regards to our bill. The first gal actually laughed and told us, you’ll get paid eventually you shouldn’t worry about it! After requesting to speak to someone else, the second person only offered $ 5 off! THEWORSTCUSTOMERSERVICEONTHEPLANET! Not asking for sympathy, just asking for help paying our bill. Guess we will just have to cancel and then let them eat the cancellation fee.

Literally the worst TV service you can buy. No one fall for their two year plan because they will screw you over every month and charge hundreds of dollars for cancellation fees. On top of that they have the worst and rudest customer service that try to talk over you. Overall go with ANY other cable provider. So tired of these people and their crap.
