Missing a star for the chips… ugh, awful! Let’s get to the good stuff… food = YUMMY! salsa bar = great! The corn tortillas are like sopapillas, light and fluffy, I’ve never had better.

This is just very casual easy food. They have a tremendous salsa bar. There are quite a few options to try. It’s easy to settle on one favorite but I recommend trying it all.(Just not all at once) The staff is friendly and the chips and salsa are self serve.

I’m convinced after reading Unilocal reviews that I need to come back and try the sirloin. I should’ve done my research before — tsk tsk. First experience I went for a tote combo made up of barbacoa on flour and adobado chicken on corn tortilla. While the corn tortilla reminded me of a flour tortilla I found myself drawn more to the flavor of the flour tortilla. However, texture and char was good on both. The abodabo was really good, the barbacoa on the other hand was a bit unfamiliar and strange to me. It took a bit of doctoring up with condiments from the salsa bar for me to thoroughly enjoy it. Rice and beans sides were yummy. Would come back, especially for the salsa bar(chips were good too, btw), but looking forward to trying other Mexican fare in Tucson.

My hubs and I have been going there for about six years. The food NEVER gets old. It’s delicious. The platter for two with sirloin, four tortillas, rice and charro beans is fantastic and more than enough for two to share. PATRON’s TIP, if you’re looking to feed 4 – 5, get(two) platters for two rather than a platter for four. The portion of meat in the platter for four is less than a double portion of a platter for two, and doesn’t come with guac. Would no doubt be a 5-star place except for what’s been previously mentioned: their customer service is truly awful. This service is the kind that make me not want to return but the food is so good we still do(and not having to tip makes that easier). There is one little lady that’s often the one I see cleaning tables who doesn’t speak english but is always smiling, friendly and helpful — SHEISTHEEXCEPTION. After seeing the same faces for years, they still give the same stale«I’m here cause I have to be» attitude. Although, I will say that we went a week ago and saw a new, young girl who was very friendly. Hopefully she sets a new standard there and they don’t taint her!

Came here for work and stop by this place via Unilocal. Not a bad place the salsa bar is the bomb! Fresh and many selections of salsa to choose. Beats the variety of polo loco hands down. Stop by the place is clean and the top sirloin is very good.

Pretty standard for taco based meats. Carne Asada, chicken and al pastor is all they have and the menu is limited to what they can do with these meats. They service is fast, food is fairly tasty and judging by the crowd they do a passable job serving locals and folks who should know about Mexican food. Prices are very reasonable and the salsa bar is fresh and restocked frequently. Limited Fresca’s but full selection of other sodas. Chips are unlimited but also unappetizing, since they lie in a crumbled heap.

The food is delicious! The salsa bar seems fresh, we go there all the time. The reason I gave this place low stars is because of customer service. None of the workers smile, none of them welcome patrons, and prepare to have rolled eyes and huffs and puffs if you ask them for anything. I wish they had a drive thru window so that we could just get food without having to deal with rude employees.

Delicious food. And Modelo cerveza goes with it all. The prices are a little high but only because I eat so many tacos here; though they give you enough delicious meat to make it worth it. :)

If this place ever converted to an actual sit down restaurant instead of fast casual, I’d still come here. The lady at the front counter was nice and quick. They have a salsa bar which is amazing too. For a fast-isn establishment, I really like this place. Not far from the office I was working at and speedy service. Highly recommended!

Salsa bar was good, but the cheese sauce on the panchos were kind of disappointing, but overall not bad.

Pretty good food if you’re in a hurry. They don’t seem to have any particularly large meals, which isn’t that bad but makes it tough to choose it when I’m really hungry. My favorite meal here is the nachos topped with chicken. Their chips are amazing and the chicken is very good, but they seem to use movie theater nacho cheese or something on the top, which I don’t understand. Even Nico’s melts real cheese on top. Still, pretty good.

Great food at a great price! The chips are made on site and you can taste the difference. The salsa bar is absolutely the best with several options.

I hate to be that proverbial guy that says these aren’t authentic Mexican tacos because I’m Mexican-American, but it really isn’t. They’re Americanized tacos, but nonetheless really good! It’s fresh and very clean. The meats are tender, and have that delicious somewhat charbroiled taste. The thing I like the most about this place would be their salsa bar. They have about 10 to 15 different types of salsas, ranging from sauce type to fresca. Good ones too! Their fanta soda machine also has an array of different flavors. This overall is an A-OK place.

This place is so tasty! The meat is so well seasoned, the flour tortillas are amazing, rice and beans are average for Mexican restaurant and the salsa bar is so fresh and so delicious! Pickled onions are great, the cucumbers are fresh and crisp and the pico is super good! Will definitely come back again and would definitely recommend taco tote!

I hit up Taco Tote every time I come home to Tucson. Simple, straightforward tacos with an extensive salsa bar and unlimited chips. What more do you need? I always go for the sirloin tacos and I love that I get to pick all my own toppings. I also appreciate the fact that they have onions separate from cilantro — WHY is it so difficult for places to not mix them together?! The atmosphere and décor is just ok, but there’s always tons of seating and for the most part it’s clean. My only deal is that it’s kind of pricey compared to LA street tacos, but at least they’re generous with the meat and everything always tastes fresh.

If you’ve been in Tucson long enough, you would know that this location hasn’t been exactly fair to restaurants. So many businesses have come-and-gone, that this is actually El Taco Tote’s second run at this very location. After the first time it closed, an Hawaiian joint opened but closed quickly. The second run of El Taco Tote’s seems to be sustaining. Now that I covered the short history lesson, here is what I think of the place: The interior is very nice and clean. The online menu is slightly confusing but makes more sense at the restaurant. The service was normal; nothing stood out as neither bad nor great. The food here is great! The chicken is well-marinated, the corn tortillas had flavor, and the guacamole had the right combination of ingredients. I would recommend getting the charro beans over the refried. What makes this place stand out and the reason I am a ‘fan’ is because of the large salsa bar. Not only are their salsa’s tasty, but you can get red onions, cabbage, cucumbers, and peppers to add to your meal. All of this was delicious at a very good price! There is one television here and was playing Telemundo. I’m not trying to say it should be an english-speaking channel, but I would suggest to them to add another television so both language-speaking clientele can watch something while waiting for the food. Also, the microphone they use when announcing orders are way to high, so be prepared!

The three enchilada plate = OMG! Okay, sorry for that. But really, for $ 5.99 this plate with three scrumptious and just slightly spicy green enchiladas(or red) with side of rice and beans that are also very tasty, is a super deal. I was scraping up every last morsel on my plate for the flavor. Perfect for a nice lunch as it was for me today. There’s all kinds of deals and plates with drink and chips and a massive salsa bar for chips that I can’t wait to go back for. Fast service(and brought to the table) this is a pretty cool place!

Got the combo pork adobado and fish tacos. Charro beans. Horchata drink. Definitely not the five star rating people are toting. 3 – 4 stars(I go for the because I don’t think it’s close to 4.5). The food is fresh. The sides bar is nice and there is a wide variety of sauces /salsas. The pork adobado was solid. The fish was nothing special. Charro beans weren’t that flavorful. The rice was weak. Overall, this place is ok for a quick bite, but I’ve had taco trucks with way better flavor. Moving om
