Famous Sam’s

Walked in sat at the bar for 10 minutes before the female bartender walked in my vicinity. She turned her back to me and was texting in her phone when I had to get her attention. She had the nerve to apologize for not coming over… lol. After that she was friendly. Next went to sit in a both to order food and I swear the waitress rolled her eyes at us for sitting in her area. Customer service needless to say sucks but the worst part is (this is a sports bar) they have some 25″ tvs hangin up. OMG went to play pool, stupid me, I put money in the table before realizing there were no balls for the table. Oh well just lost $ 0.50. No biggie on to the next table. Shot one game of pool change thingy wouldn’t work so couldn’t play on that table. They have 5 pool tables and had to scrap together balls from each one to make a set. Wtf am I still doing here, oh squinting to watch MNF!!! I wish you could take away stars!!!

The most disgusting patty melt I have ever tried! I order to go Patty melt w/​fries and the meat was burnt over well done… the bread was not toasted and the fries were burnt and soggy also. Disgusting!!! I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager and offered me a refund or new free meal next time but did not want either I just wanted them to know how disgusting the food was and was not going to order from them again. :(Do not go to this FS!!!

Waited 15 minutes at the bar while the bartenders looked at us and walked right passed us. Ended up leaving without getting any service. Ridiculous.

I forgot just how subpar my previous experiences here have been. I came hoping for an alternative to fast food and was hoping to find a decent salad. That didn’t happen; the salad menu is miniscule and unappetizing. I guess I’m glad I didn’t something in this arena, but more on that in a bit.
Since getting a salad wasn’t in the cards, I decided to give the Patty melt a shot. Mistake. The onions weren’t grilled, it was dry as hell (asked to cook it medium well), and the fries were terrible. I asked the waitress for a chicken sandwich with a side salad instead, and the salad was mostly brown lettuce, and little else. Luckily the chicken sandwich wasn’t completely garbage BUT I then noticed that my meal was more than it indicated on the menu. It turns out a side salad, instead of fries, is an upcharge that I wasn’t told about.
If I told someone I paid a few cents short of $ 14 for lunch, they would think I went somewhere nice or high quality. When I tell this story later I’m going to say, with a face full of disappointment, that I went to Famous Sam’s and that it was a regrettable mistake I won’t be making again.
side note: regular tea (and soda, I guess) should not be over $ 2.00. I don’t see how this is justified in this, or any restaurant.

this place has gone down hill. food so –so service is the same so– so. the last time I tried to call in an order first call went UNANSWERED, second got their FAX in my ear, third call ready for the fax and yep I got it again. BUT finally 4^th call a live voice but the place was so loud she couldn’t hear me and hung up. NEVER AGAIN… called the Sam’s on Broadway 3 rings phone answered by a pleasant voice took my order, repeated it to make sure, DONE. this sam’s (that’s right lower case) lost a 50 dollar order and a 10 $ tip.

Worst food ever had. Travel all over the US and this place should be ashamed of it self for taking advantage of the local public.

Extremely LOUD! Had football game on and volume from 0 – 10 was at 11+. Game ended, people left and TVs remained at 11+. Service was very slow with place almost empty. Food was so so. Will not return if in area again.

Service was nice enough but I got about the worst burger I can ever remember. it was an open face chili burger, which to my surprise I couldn’t cut through with a knife it was burnt so badly. The mound of fries was greasy but okay until I got to the middle where they were all raw. So burnt burger, raw fries, learned my lesson.

@ David d. — Thank you for your excellent review! without it I would have been another Texan lost and looking for a good place to stop at in town! he is right on all accounts, just by stepping foot in this bar I kinda felt like I had been whisked away to the great state of Texas! the bar is cozy with pool and games and screens galore! Great chicken wings! and the sauce is top notch! not too spicy and not to mild. The size of wing is perfect and the ranch is good too! Great lunch or dinner or drinking spot! Keep it up!

Horrible greasy fatty food. I wouldn’t even enjoy if I was drunk. To much mayo on the blt, fries were soggy, salad was pathetic. Slooooooow service. Never going back.

This was the first bar I dived into in Tucson after I moved here from Texas a week ago. No one saying ya’ll or I’m fixin’ to do something. And no Shiner Bock on tap. I guess that’s a Texas thing.
This place is really roomy. The bartenders are friendly. They made me feel at home. The food. Excellent. Overall, a nice feel and good atmosphere. Governor Brewer: Stay away. Everyone else: Come in and enjoy a nice watering hole on the South Side.

It’s a sports/​dive bar. Even the mozzarella sticks aren’t good.
Service is slow even though the place is empty.

I had no idea you could overcook a burger this much, while also burning the bun and fries. I’m not an overly picky eater, but most of what was served was disgusting. The waitress (if you choose to call her that) could care less and told me that’s how they cook them and if I wanted it different I should have told her when I ordered. We saw her a total of 5 times: greeting and drink order, food order, food delivery, when I called her over to see why my entire meal was burnt to heck, and the check. Our drinks were never refilled. I almost never tip less than 20%, she got 10%.
There are tvs and pool tables (hint, don’t expect good food from a place with pool tables, and I do know better), so maybe it’s a good beer and pool joint. But I’ll never return regardless of how thirsty or hungry I may be.
