Usually don’t bother to write reviews, but this review is mainly for the Starbucks inside this Haggen location. Firstly, I’m still shocked at just how HUGE this grocery store is which can be a bit overwhelming but is also honestly really nice, you have more than enough room for everything and can literally see the entire store when you walk in with how high the ceiling is and again how big the store is. The one time I shopped here I think I found some good deals, fresh groceries, and friendly people; it’s really too bad that such a large store obviously doesn’t seem to be getting enough business with a usually quite empty parking lot etc. Anyway, on to why I wrote this review with 3 stars in the first place: I swear I’ve ordered from the Starbucks inside here before and everything probably was norm and fine, but this time I purposely drove out to this Starbucks to see if it’s closer than the Safeway one. It’s not, but either way I figured eh, I’m already here. 1. The customers in front of me I think worked there at Haggen & unnecessarily took forever to stop talking to the one guy working at the Starbucks. Secondly, I placed my order and said that I had a lucky dozen I’d like to use. His first response was that he didn’t know what that is. I don’t even work at Starbucks & have never met someone who doesn’t know what a lucky dozen free drink is. 3. Once he figured out what I was talking about I guess, he then proceeds to go all«professional» on me and tell me in a script-like way how non-stand alone and corporate owned Starbucks stores pick and choose and don’t take rewards. Imo this is bullsht because I’ve most definitely used my rewards at a non-stand alone store before. xP So I figured, okay well I’m already here so I’ll take my drink anyway. If wasting my time wasn’t already enough, he then I SWEAR overcharged me! 5 something instead of my usual $ 4.92 for my drink that is the same thing I always get at any & every Starbucks. I pointed this out, explained, & he lowered the price a little; but still not what I usually pay. :/ Again, I don’t know if this is because of the store this Starbucks is in or I was just unlucky to get such an unfriendly worker, but just wanted to say to anyone who actually reads this that this Starbucks location is most definitely NOT worth it. Haggen is great, this coffee location is not. Thanks for reading this far! Sierra

Beautiful full of food to savor and enjoy. I heard they are leaving AZ — too bad, nice place and very appealing. It is a bit out of my way for shopping. Will be a huge loss for this neighborhood.

A welcome addition to the west side, for sure. Formerly a Safeway… I think? Decent organic selection too, which is what’s sorely lacking in other grocery stores in the area. Check out is friendly too!

Prices are waaaaay out of line with reality. They managed to turn a successful Abertsons into a failing Haggens. I feel bad for the employees because they’re all really good at their jobs. Now I have to shop at the Safeway and its miserable.

While these Haggens are not as organic or «farmer’s markety» as the Haggens up in the Pacific Northwest, they still have more organic and a wider variety of foods than Safeway or Frys. Any of the Haggen brand products are a really good bet, and the seafood, meat, and produce departments are WAY better than other choices here in Tucson. For those who are ripping on the prices, please remember that Tucson’s prices are much lower than other parts of the country. Give them a chance to get to know their market, they ARELOWERING their prices. Just the other day they had huge individual t-bone steaks on sale for $ 6.99 lb. I’m a huge fan of Haggen market and will always shop there given a choice.

I thought Albertons was a little on the pricey side. Then came Haggens and raised prices on almost everything. I refuse to pay 5 bucks for a gallon of milk. By the looks of the parking lot lately I’m not the only customer that feels this place is over priced. On the bright side the produce and meat department are still really good. Hopefully they get replaced by a Marketplace Walmart.

I’m so happy to have better, healthier options for me and my family. I no longer have to drive access town to find local farm fresh food as well as better meat and fish.

I like the Haggen that now occupies the former Albertsons space at Silverbell and Speedway. Quite a few more organic products than Albertsons offered. Haggen has had plenty of cash registers open. Little to no wait, as opposed to both Safeway stores within a mile or two. They have superior interior signage and much less clutter in the aisles than when it was Albertsons. Exciting discovery tonight. They have lots of small grocery carts like Sprouts used to have. Yay! Their meat and seafood offerings seem very nice. Got some delicious shrimp at the butcher counter for a reasonable price. A lot of the friendly Albertsons employees are still there. I’ve asked a few of the most familiar ones how they like working for Haggen. They’ve all been enthusiastic, although one said she missed some of her regular customers. Why? Where did they go? She didn’t know, but the only reason I can guess is that they have overpriced many items for this particular location. They’re probably testing the local market and learning. Place is almost deserted at formerly busy times of day when it was Albertsons. Why didn’t they do market research for this particular location? They blew the opening, and will never get some of the former Albertsons customers back. And maybe that makes for such a quick checkout experience. Lots of cashiers and not enough customers due to price. Maybe. Edit: A few weeks later, the place has even fewer customers, and I’m guessing cashiers’ hours have been cut. They’re also running low on some items, including produce. No wonder.

PROs: Really good quality meat and seafood. Pricey, but worth it in my opinion. A very few items(e.g. canned fire roasted tomatoes) are cheaper than Albertsons. Good ambiance. In my experience, staff(carried over from Albertson) is friendly and helpful, far more than Safeway, for example. CONS: Higher prices on almost everything, especially staples like milk and eggs and bread. And we are not talking 2−3% increases. Hickman eggs(uncaged chickens) went from $ 2.99 a dozen to $ 3.99. White onions from $ 0.99 to $ 1.49 a pound. Ground bison from 8.99 to 10.99. Etc. This week Dos Equis Amber went from $ 7.99 to $ 9.99(good thing I’m not a beer drinker).

I have shopped at this location for over fourteen years during which time it was an Albertson’s. Initially, it was a flagship Albertson’s store complete with full outdoor nursery. Over time this store has changed hands a few times and each time it seems to get less appealing. Unfortunately, I believe the switch to a Haggen store might be its kiss of death. They no longer carry several items I could only find at Albertsons(despite my written requests to carry them again). They have also increased prices on everyday items like milk and I have found some items priced as much as 30% more than the two nearby Safeway stores.

At first I was impressed by the produce dept. When you start buying other products that you bought before, and you see that a price was 19.99 before and is now 24.99, that is a deal breaker. Safeway is closer, and I’ll make do with it. B. Malone, longtime Albertson’s shopper.

I appreciate the shift to healthier, fresher foods. The west side lacks variety in grocery options. This could be exactly what the neighborhood needs.

Insanely expensive. This place makes Safeway look like a bargain. Keep driving, don’t bother, you can’t afford it.
