While living near the university several years ago, I drove by the place often(though they’ve apparently moved since), and admittedly it looked a bit sketchy. But their sign advertising a super deal, a sofa + chair for $ 249, caught my eye. The sofas out in front of the store looked fine, nothing fancy, but nice and sturdy. So after I got married and moved into a townhouse, we needed a full set of furniture, and headed to the Sofa Factory. The employees were very friendly, and explained that while they normally do custom sofas, they usually have at least half a dozen sets pre-made in a variety of fabrics. When we went in, there were muted colors, brown and green, and even some with patterns, sitting in the back of the workshop. We ended up picking out a set in beige linen, paid, and they were willing to hold our furniture for a few days until we could procure a U-Haul to pick up all of our furniture on the same day. We’ve had the sofa set for 6 years now, and while the corners of the chair have been a bit shredded by kitten claws, it’s held up very nicely, especially with slipcovers. Sure, it’s not super-plush or fancy, but for $ 249, it’s darn good starter furniture that will last a long time!
