I had signed up for an appointment on a Thursday morning. Dr. Migliazzo was out of town that day, and I didn’t even know it until well after I had arrived for my appointment. When one of his dental assistants treated me that day, she had found a chip on one of my teeth shortly before the end of my appointment. That’s when she said Dr. Migliazzo was out of the office since she wanted Dr. Migliazzo to see if the chip was severe enough to warrant further action. So she wanted me to set up a follow-up appointment in about 2 – 3 weeks when Dr. Migliazzo would be in the office. There must have been some miscommunication of some sort because in the calendar book, there was an X in the 9AM slot, but not the 8AM slot, and the dental assistant didn’t know why that was. I specifically wanted an 8AM appointment so I could go to work afterwards, so she signed me up for that 8AM before the X’ed out 9AM. However, a week before that appointment, I got a call saying that Dr. Migliazzo wasn’t going to be in the office at that time, and I was asked to reschedule. Luckily, I was able to get another 8AM just three days after my originally scheduled follow-up appointment. The follow-up appointment wasn’t that great. I had to wait about 20 minutes before I finally got treated. The original dental assistant that I had during my first appointment spent way too much time talking and chatting to the first patient, which made me think that I had come at the wrong time. It turns out I came at the right time, but I still had to wait quite some time before I got called back; I also had to wait several minutes before Dr. Migliazzo finally came. He saw the chip on my tooth, but didn’t think it was a big problem. However, he saw a couple of cavities that the first dental assistant didn’t tell me about. And so he had to put in a couple of fillings, which cost me close to $ 70 with my insurance. What should have been a 30-minute appointment ended up being three times as long. I also didn’t feel like a valued customer since Dr. Migliazzo also chatted quite a lot with another one of his assistants while I was lying in the dentist’s chair. The office staff was nice though, but definitely could have been a lot better. It definitely didn’t have the family-style ambience of my previous dentist(Dr. Mark Larsen at Catalina Foothills Family Dental), but I do appreciate the fact that they complimented me on how good my teeth were.
