I just happened on this place today. The vegetarian plate with calabacitas was excellent. Will definitely go back.

My family was out celebrating my sisters birthday and decided to give Michas a try as our company frequently caters from them and it’s generally decent then. The inside is very unassuming, pretty humble and low key with some nice art on the walls. The salsa here is decent and the food solid. I did really like the carne asada, it was actual steak. Too many Mexican places around town use tasteless, odorless brown beef nuggets. We also ordered a pitcher of margaritas that was pretty run of the mill flavor wise but kinda lacking in the tequila department, tons of mixer in this one. The enchiladas, beans, and rice were all solid Mexican faire but nothing I’d go out of my way for. My favorite item here was definitely the carne asada. Service started out strong but ended up being the downfall of our entire visit. Upon arriving we were seated pretty quickly and had our drink orders taken right away. Service was quick all the way through ordering and getting our food, at which point flagging down our server was nearly impossible. It took us 15 minutes after asking for the check to actually get it. Once we gave a card to process payment, we ended up waiting another 15+ minutes at which point I got up to check on progress to see the cashier boy texting away on his phone with our card sitting at the counter. When I got his attention he mentioned he needed an ID to be able to run the card. I asked how we would ever have found that out, to which his response was«idk I guess we’re busy». They were less than half as busy as when we arrived and service was stellar. For future reference, if you could just acknowledge that the mistake was on your end and not make some lame excuse deflecting responsibility for it, I think I would’ve walked away feeling a little better about this place. All I’ve gathered from this is that the staff don’t care, which doesn’t give me much confidence in this place. The food here is solid, acceptable Mexican food. Portion sizes are large enough to satisfy any appetite but in a city full of amazing Mexican food Michas is just not worth the effort. I’ll stick to getting my fix of this place when it’s catered to my office.

Chile relleno-The chile itself was delicious, filled with good white cheese, topped with a little good cheddar. Rice & beans average. Green corn tamales horribly sweet, served with no sauce. Chips and salsa were good. Very nice service. Would come back for the relleno.

Negative 5 stars. Service was ok. I ordered carne asada burrito. Meat was obviously not fresh had that dried out old texture to it. Mostly was fat and gristle. The chips and salsa tasted like left over canned salsa. So I asked for pico. Of course it was bad and spoiled. I asked if they had any«real» salsa that I could try to enjoy my burrito. The brought me some taco sauce that tasted worse than jack in the box. Honestly I wouldn’t waste my time ever going back. All the people who eat here obviously have never had REAL Mexican food. Seriously make some real salsa!!!

Love this little place. I’m in from Los Angeles and was looking for something good. The staff is courteous, it’s clean and the Carne Seca chimichanga enchilada style is off the chain! I recommend!

Traditional, authentic, legit, all words I’d use to describe the food, atmosphere, and experience at Micha’s fine Mexican food. The salsa, guacamole, and chips are all super fresh and well worth the extra cost(chips and salsa are only free for the first two bowls). The beans were very creamy and loaded with cheddar cheese. The rice was nice and dry, not sticky or wet, but soft and with a lot of bite. The Carne Asada tacos(soft corn shells) were loaded with lots of lettuce, pico, and more cheddar cheese. The portion of beef was a bit on the light side and not as flavor packed as I would have thought.

Excellent. Sonoran style food. Home cooking for residents of southern Arizona. The service was excellent and quick. Server was very pleasent. Had a chance to speak with the management who was also very pleasent. The only thing that was a problem is that they close earlier than most restaurants.

My family used to really like Micha’s when I was a kid. However, recently, my grandmother has gotten sick every time she eats there. Throwing up for hours, it’s sad to see her like this. So because of this, I do not like this place anymore, nor do I recommend it to Anyone!

Went in for lunch. Local Tucsonan & I’ve never eaten here. Never really heard anyone talk about it. I wasn’t impressed. I had a lunch combo with a bean tostada, cheese enchilada and ground beef taco. The food tasted like the atmosphere the workers created. The«I don’t really care.» Attitude.

My family has been going to Micha’s for 30 years. My first solid food as a baby was a Micha’s cheese enchilada. So we have history! My family has had various special events here over the years, including catered ones. Everything is always delicious! The décor is a bit dated and nothing special, but don’t let it fool you. This is some seriously good Mexican food! Their menu is pretty huge, and you can get all kinds of «combo» choices. Some highlights… Their hot salsa is, well… awesome sauce! Their green corn tamales are some of the best around. Their cheese enchiladas are STILL one of my favorite foods! The beef patty tacos can take some getting used to, but I have yet to meet someone that is NOT a convert after trying them.

I used to be a regular in the early ‘80s. Back then, it was just a converted house with limited seating, but the food was the best on S. 4th. Gilbert and Micha treated me like family. Sadly, as is often the case, the food went downhill after the remodel. I’ve been back a few times, but it is always a disappointment.

Such a great experience — hands down the most exceptional service I’ve ever received. While getting out the car my 3 year old daughter fell and landed face first on the asphalt parking lot. She was crying as the blood was running down her face. My cousin went inside to get some napkins and a restaurant employee(or possibly the owner) responded immediately. He gave a stack of napkins and offered ice for the wound. As we attended to my daughter in the parking lot, this employee came outside with a bag of ice and to offer any assistance. He welcomed us inside the bathroom to clean up and determine if we needed to visit urgent care. While in the bathroom, the employee brought a clean wet towel to aid in cleaning my daughters face. He even brought a band aid. Once the wound was clean and the band aid was applied my daughter calmed down so we decide to continue with our dinner plans and be seated. A server brought us to our table and offered us drinks. With the chips and salsa arriving as we were being seated, I began to think this place is amazing — first helping me with my daughter and now this quick service. Our order was taken and endless chips were delivered. The server was extremely responsive and asked a few times throughout our meal if my daughter was okay. About 15 minutes after being seated, another employee arrived to our table with Neosporin and new band aids. The restaurant had sent an employee to Walgreens to purchase these items for us. I was shocked. I didn’t expect the first band aid provided in the bathroom let alone the trip to Walgreens to get additional band aids and ointment. The staff at this restaurant was sincere, responsive and extremely attentive to our situation. Additionally, the chicken flautas were amazing. Shredded white meat chicken rolled in corn tortillas — delicious. The best chicken flautas I’ve had. To top off this great experience, the original employee(who I believe to be the owner) told us the bill was on him and didn’t charge us. We were going to Michas for the excellent food but ended up getting much more than that. This is definitely a restaurant that goes above and beyond for their customers. I recommend this place to all — the best authentic Mexican food restaurant!!!

We had a lunch at Micha’s and although I wasn’t impressed with the atmosphere or the standard chips and salsa, they were ok. When it came to the carne asada though it was some of the best I’d ever had. Very impressive and not at all that pricey. I had a chimi and the size was more than I could eat for a lunch meal and it was perfectly made. The garnish was very good too with fresh peppers and not pickled. The rice and beans were average. Overall I would give the chimi a 5+ and the rest 3 stars. Worth the trouble to find for lunch.

We came here last Sunday, Mothers Day(of all days). The parking lot was full, walked through the door and were seated immediately(no waiting, right on!). I ordered their red chile chimichanga enchilada style and my partner ordered a carne asada combination plate. He wanted a small sample of their menudo and our waitress Lisa brought him a small bowl with lots of menudo(totally surprised by their generosity). He loved their menudo and thoroughly enjoyed his whole meal which he could not finish… leftovers. My chimi was huge, I could only eat half of it(took the other half home) and as always their chips and salsa were off the chain… so good. I have upgraded my star rating from three to five!

The chips and salsa wear great for us and the salsa has a little kick which is nice compared to most places water downed stuff. The carne asada had great flavor and the chimichanga dough or tortilla was finished perfectly.

We frequently go there for«going away» lunches when people transition at work. The food is standard mexican fare, but they are used to big groups. If you want truly sensational Mexican food try Mi Nidito, right up 4th avenue. Overall, not bad, not great.

Family restaurants always reign victorious in my heart. I wanted it to taste like the stuff I have eaten in San Francisco, LA and real Mexico, but it still seemed to cater to the type of guy who pronounces quesadilla as Kay-Suh-Dil-Uh, with mostly bland flavors and outrageously overloaded portions. No problem with the second part, but sometimes you just want to pay less for that kind of thing but you can’t here because the prices start in the double digits for most small(really big) entrees. Unfortunately, Arizona is just not a sane place to find the real thing as far as Mexican cuisine. However, this could be a taste that’s totally foreign to me as a Californian probably just getting a taste of Baja California as opposed to the tastes that may be more true to the mainland of the country, or the border areas.

BLECH!!! Seriously Unilocalers??? 4 stars? ICK! And pricey crud too! Entrees are $ 9 and over. TERRIBLE chips. The worst I’ve ever had in my 53 years. Thick, cold, and taste like cheap bagged chips. Barely mediocre salsa/hot sauce. Nothing special at all. Red chile: Double ICK. Cubed meat wasn’t cooked long enough and it was so tough. Not sure how they could even sell it. Red chile had absolutely NO flavor either. No cumin taste, no spices. Bland! St. Mary’s and Little Mexico have very good red chile, but I still don’t think anything beats Las Margaritas on Grant. They have seriously spicy, flavorful and tender chile! Beans and rice were fine, but that’s not really why we go to Mexican food restaurants, right? Ambience totally sucks too. Service was inadequate. Server never came by after dumping off our food to see how things were. Had been to Michas 3 or 4 times over 10 years and they have never been anything special. Unfortunately, Little Mexico was closed, starvation set in and we ended up here. Never, ever again.

Great Mexican food on the South Side. AMBIENCE: 4 stars. Very comfy family restaurant. You definitely get a sense of how much the owners/staff relish their place in the community. Cool shrine area at the front commemorating people who were important to the restaurant. Very casual and comfortable. SERVICE: 4 stars. We were greeted and seated immediately. Very busy Saturday afternoon, so it took a bit of time to get everything out to the table, but the staff kept our glasses full and the chips and salsa satiated us. FOOD: 4 stars. Great! May challenge Rosa’s for a special place in my heart! Their spicy salsa is really good(and I am picky), and their chips are great. The machaca is their specialty, and I went with the machaca burro enchilada style(since this is in Tucson I am not going to bother explaining machaca or enchilda style to you, dear reader). The macaca is tender and juicy and delicious – and well seasoned! I would go back right now if I could!

This is where my work usually gets Mexican food catered in from and its pretty good. Its your standard Mexican fare. But, when I am in the area and am craving Mexican I will usually swing in here for a couple of reasons. One, service has always been good no matter what time of day. Two, the salsa has some kick to it. I usually go with the Carne Seca tacos. You get three, and its pretty darn good. They cover them with a lot of lettuce and some cheese, but that doesn’t bother me. I like filling up on lettuce as it makes me feel better for eating a fried tortilla filled with meat. I have in the past had the tamale, but I say skip that one. Stick with enchilada’s or tacos and you should be okay.
