We contacted Naughton’s around the 2nd of July to see about getting a quote for a Aerocool(Mastercool) evaporative cooler or possibly central air installed. They scheduled a contractor who works with them to come out the following week. Tuesday of the following week their contractor came out. From the word hello he really did not act like he wanted to be at our place. He went on our roof to take a look at the situation. When he came back down he spoke with me about a «split system» meaning we would keep our current furnace and add a A/C unit to it. I corrected him and told him that I wanted a quote for the Aerocool OR a central air unit. He gave me a look, shook his head and told me he would get back with me and left. We waited for a week and never heard anything from Naughton’s. All the other companies we had requested quotes from had come and gone so we finally called Naughton’s and asked them what was going on. The girl who answered had no idea what was going on, she would check and call us back. She never did. So we looked at the quotes we did have and made a decision. We went with a top of the line air conditioner/gas pack combo with all the bells and whistles. After everything is done it will be over 8K invested. Something that could have gone to Naughton’s. I even sent them an e-mail letting them know what was going on, I am courteous that way. To be fair, they did follow up with us and apologized over and over. The gentleman my wife had originally spoken with was tracked down and he called to apologize over and over. Unfortunately apologies do not cool my house when it is 103 outside with a 30% humidity. Wasting my time, which is actually quite expensive, so I am available for your contractor isn’t going to change with an apology. Wasting my wife’s time, which is more expensive than mine since she is higher in the food chain of the IT world, so she could make calls and follow up when the ball is dropped isn’t going to change with an apology. I guess what I am saying is an apology just does not wipe the slate clean when you are dealing with potential customers looking to accomplish something in a timely fashion. The owner, who apparently saw my email, had his employees contact me. I would have been more impressed if he had taken the time to contact me. Live and learn.
