Open Arms Early Learning Center

As a first time mom, finding a daycare was a bit of an overwhelming task. But after getting several recommendations for Open Arms, I decided I had to check it out. From the very first time I visited Open Arms to take a tour, I felt very welcomed. The directors and teachers were not only informative, but compassionate; as they knew I would be bringing my 3 month old daughter and was feeling a little
anxious about it all. I left that day feeling so confident in my decision to have my daughter attend Open Arms.
However, even with all the confidence I had in Open Arms, I didn’t realize just how emotional I would be when dropping my daughter off at daycare on her first day. Ms. Doreen was in the infant room that morning, and I will never forget how comfortable and reassured she made me feel, that not only would my daughter be taken care of, but she would be loved. Before I even left the parking lot that day, I logged on to Watch Me Grow (another wonderful feature of Open Arms, where you can see real-​time video surveillance of your child) and saw Sofia being rocked in a rocking chair. My mama heart was so happy. And it continues to be happy. The teachers give a detailed report each day of when she ate, went to the bathroom, slept and what activities they did. A portfolio is created for each child with some of these fun activities, including my favorite so far-​a blue bird created from Sofia’s tiny footprint! Each Friday, there is a theme, and when it was Hippie Day recently, the teachers tie-​dyed a shirt for each of the children. These are just some of the many examples of how the teachers at Open Arms go above and beyond for the children and families.
I thought going back to work and leaving my daughter with «strangers» at daycare would be tremendously hard. But the teachers at Open Arms are far from strangers to my daughter and our family. It didn’t take long for us to realize just how much they care about each child in their program and the lengths they go to each day to create quality interactions. I am so thankful to have found Open Arms and can’t express my gratitude enough for the kindness they have shown to our family.
