We have been redecorating our home. When dealing with many decisions, purchases, stores and store personnel over a short period of time, you begin to realize how few employees actually do things right. That means 100% right the first time, causing you the least amount of grief during a complicated project. Take all the mistakes, multiplied by the number of stores, and it can turn into a nightmare. That’s the deal with Pier 1 Oro Valley. I know you’re all nice people, but here are the screwups: First, ordering part of our items incorrectly. That meant we had to wait an additional week. Second, not informing us the second part of our order was in. Third, on hold a long time when I called to track down the order. Fourth, recommending a very amateur delivery service. Fifth, releasing the order to said amateur delivery service without my authorizing it! Sixth, calling me to explain and letting me(and my husband who was listening) think that our delivery had been picked up by said delivery service and was now off in la-la land.(Fortunately, they brought it back when they realized they weren’t authorized.) I know, I know. Mistakes DO happen. But, people, get your act together! Makes me want to NEVER do another redecorating project.

I was surprised that no one has reviewed the Oro Valley Pier 1 Imports yet. I think they’ve been in this location for at least eight years… Yesterday I was showing homes in Oro Valley, and thought I’d stop in and take a look at their selection on my way back to the office. I’ve been a Pier 1 customer for years, but I haven’t been to the Oro Valley location in at least a year. The current buzz seems to be about patio furniture… In the front of the store, they’ve got a lot of different patio tables, chairs, and sofas, as well as coordinating colorful cushions, and numerous cool plates and glasses designed for outdoor use. Smart merchandising, as they know we have a long hot summer to look forward to in Tucson. We do need all the help we can get in finding ways to stay cool! They also currently have a great selection of regular glassware, plates, and a lot of home furnishings too(see photos), as well as numerous other ideas to help you personalize(and love) your home. You can get a lot of the same things at Pier 1 as you can at World Market, and the prices are comparable… The difference is that Pier 1 is mostly focused on furniture and other imported items(like gifts, soaps/lotions, framed art, and jewelry). They don’t have an international foods section or the beer and wine like World Market, and they seem to have more furniture and various home related goods than World Market does, which is okay with me. I like the variety, and it’s always fun to come to Pier 1 and browse. They have great sales too. Check the Sunday insert in the newspaper– or visit their website: . You can get a lot for your money at Pier 1 Imports, and the Oro Valley store is no exception.
