I’ve lived here almost two years, I started in the smaller one bedroom and transferred after a year to the larger one bedroom. When I originally moved into the apartments they were owned by HSL. The man who i signed my lease with was kind of a skeeze and made me uncomfortable, however after the apartments where purchased from HSL and he was let go. When the new owners took over they made changed almost on day one! It was great, they painted, fixed the landscaping, upgraded the fencing and are currently upgrading the office I believe? I love the staff, Tina and Shane are so sweet and helpful, anytime I’ve ever called they usually get there the same day to fix whatever is it. I haven;t had many issues at all, mostly little things like a unhinged drawer in my kitchen that I was not able to fix. I like that they allowed me to paint, I painted three walls in my first apartment, one dark blue, one maroon and one grey and Ive also painted in my new apartment(purple green and blue) I haven’t met too many of my neighbors, but those I have met are all very friendly. I had one negative experience last year when I had an outdoor cat who was causing problems, but that’s nothing to do with the apartments and more to do with my cat peeing on peoples door(cat no longer does this. just fyi) I DO have to say if you are thinking of moving in and debating between the two one bedrooms, I totally suggest getting the bigger one. The difference in space feels amazing!(I think its around 200sqft? I am not positive, sorry) TL;DR This place is great, Ocotollo is the best floor plan, you should live here! :)

As an addendum to my initial review. I unfortunately found myself in a financial situation where I was left with little choice but to renew my lease. Since the initial review I have had 2 more water leak issues including one this morning that yet again flooded my closet, a complete ac failure where the maintenance man told me he was off in ten minutes so he would fix it tomorrow(the best part was I went to the office prior to the failure to tell them about a screeching noise and bad smell coming out of the vents intermittently through the day), my stove top arced lit on fire and melted the circuit breaker… on Christmas eve it took them a week before they could figure out the breaker issue, my floor in the living room cracks and pops and is badly sagging due to the prior flood damage. Add to this the constantly heard dogs barking loud neighbors and the ever present trash on the ground and this place has become unwelcoming at its best. Be ever vigilant if you plan on leasing here, however I would suggest heavily against putting your name on the paper.

I leased a large one bedroom(Ocotillo floorplan) for a year. I have one adult male cat. Safety: Community is gated, and gate was never broken. Covered parking is well-lit. The parking lights only went out once, and they were fixed within 24 hours. Neighbors: Other tenants keep to themselves for the most part, but seemed to be good people. There was a young couple that lived across from me for a few months that was very loud/trashy, stunk up the shared patio(and consequently, my living room) with pot, and left their trash on the shared patio, but they appeared to be evicted before I ever even complained about them. Location: Bus stop right in front of the complex. Walking distance to Wal-mart, Fry’s, Instrumental Music, Walgreen’s, a dental office, movie theater, Dollar Store, etc. Traffic light at Prudence makes it easy to go West on Speedway during morning rush hour. Pest Control: Never had a problem with bugs inside the apartment. Never saw a single roach. Did have wasps repeatedly nesting in my balcony storage during the spring. Maintenance: Maintenance was a problem when I first moved in. For the first two weeks of my lease, I had no air conditioning. The property was run by HSL at that time, and my AC was fixed the same day that the new management took over. After that, I had maintenance in my apartment constantly, for broken appliances(refrigerator, oven, toilet, dryer). I was annoyed that I had to call them so much for the first few months. I was also somewhat annoyed by renovations(they entered my apt least once a month for several months), but I think HSL had been cutting corners and ignoring problems for a long time, and the new management had a lot to fix. The maintenance under the new management is very responsive, and fixes things the first visit. Move Out: I was present for the move-out inspection. I left the apartment clean, and they did not even try to scam me with unfair charges, even though I had a pet. I got my deposit back in the mail about a week after moving out.
