I was followed around by some old lady that works there. I had trouble deciding between items and was taking a long time, which I suppose she deemed suspicious, so this women literally followed me around watching me and she made it extremely obvious. So rude. I’m a 21 year old very small very open and smiley and friendly female… Went in for muffins, left feeling uncomfortable, awkward, and all around angry and slightly violated. I will never be going back. The woman was also rude when I confronted her about it, as it was painfully obvious she was following me, and she claimed to be «watching someone else»… I’m seriously disappointed in you Safeway. Horrible customer service. I’ve never felt so unwelcome and frustrated in a store.

Here are the Pros: 1) They have food here, and the bakery is actually pretty good at having quick pick ups on hand if you need them. 2) There is a Starbucks location here 3) The flowers are a decent price if you forgot someone’s birthday or other occasion. Here are the Cons: 1) No matter when you come, there is 1 – 2 lanes open. The line just keeps getting bigger and bigger and they don’t open another lane. I can grab the one thing I need, but then it takes 20 minutes to get through the line. Why can’t they employ people here? The location is good. 2) I’ve never been able to find a bathroom. Go before you shop. 3) No pharmacy, so stop at the Walgreens on the way here. 4) Sometimes have good sales, but are out-competed by other grocers like Frys. I do like to stock up on meat when they have buy-one-get-one deals, but I could get similar deals elsewhere. 5) The produce section is lackluster.

Be prepared to wait in line at least 15 minutes if you shop here at any time of the day.

I have stopped at shopped at this Safeway many times. I have not once come in here and leave empty-handed. Everything is well-stocked and the service is above average. A few things to note: 1. They have a meat and seafood section but you cannot get an individual cut or portion to your liking. 2. No matter who crowded it is, they will only have a couple of checkout lanes open. There is no self-checkout 3. There is Starbucks and and US Bank. 4. This Safeway does not have a pharmacy. 5. It is in the shopping complex that includes a bunch of local stores and eateries, a Wendy’s, and a Dollar Tree. The parking lot is patrolled by a security guard. I especially enjoy coming to this Safeway because of the bakery and deli and the friendly people behind those counters.

I used to always go to this Safeway for a while to pick up some groceries because it was within walking distance of my apartment. It was a relatively small store compared to other Safeways around town, but it did the job for me that at least once a week, I found myself walking down to the Safeway on the northwest corner of Prince and Campbell to get my groceries. For about a year and a few months, I didn’t have much beef with this Safeway, but gradually, I noticed that the employees have been slacking off on their jobs. First and foremost, the meat department. I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a store with more incompetent employees than the meat department at this Safeway. Whenever I try to ring their buzzer to get someone’s attention, NOBODY ever comes out! One time, I saw a man cutting meat in the meat room, and even when I hit the buzzer, that man pretends to not hear the buzzer at all and continues to cut the meat. I mean, seriously??? Secondly, I’ve seen several items in the store(like a bag of squid and a loaf of bread) that have been opened. I even saw a pack of frozen ground beef next to Gorton’s Crunchy fish sticks! Even though it may have been a customer’s fault, at least one employee should have noticed all of these things before I did. The Deli department can be a hit-or-miss if you want to get your sandwiches here. Most of the time, I’ve not had trouble with them, but sometimes, you may end up waiting as long as 10 minutes just for a breakfast sandwich! If this Safeway is closest to you, feel free to walk over there for your groceries, but if it’s not within walking distance, go to the one on the southeast corner of Broadway and Campbell instead.

Customer service is lacking at this store. They don’t seem to staff appropriately during high traffic times in the morning. When I commented politely it was rudely ignored.

Really nothing bad to say. Can get busy and understaffed, but always friendly. The meat department always goes above and beyond to get you what you are looking for. There’s a cashier with a laugh you can hear all over the store. Unmistakable laugh. Prices seem cheaper here than at the Safeway at Broadway and Campbell. My imagination?

I am really surprised when reviewers write«in this neighborhood» in «this area» HELLO. would they please say where an area is they prefer. Are they too good for this«area» or must they say something negative to make themselves feel better. Personally, I have never seen the homeless or persons harrassing customers. I have, however, been approached at Home Depot, Lowes, Target, Walmart and other stores. The store is clean, staff friendly, and, the produce is not always the freshest. I have seen the«less than fresh» at Frys too. I would recommend this store. If unhappy with something, talk to the manager of the store. It more than likely, will get taken care of. Don’t let the parking lot keep you from shopping here. The staff at Safeway will take care of the problem if they are aware of it. Like many folks, you do nothing but complain.

I’m surprised at all the less than stellar reviews… I’ve never encountered the parking lot unsavory characters or seen the store any less than sparkling. I’ve always encountered plenty of friendly knowledgeable staff. I just moved here from San Diego and on my first visit to this store, the woman at the check stand gave me a short list of places to shop and eat! So nice! I buy all my produce at the farmers’ markets but the meat dept staff is always very friendly and helpful, even staying open a little longer to finish my list.

By far one of the best Safeway locations I’ve been to both in Tucson and Walnut Creek, CA. I typically associate Safeway with poor customer service, bad wait times in line, and higher prices, yet this store does a fine job keeping customers happy and properly keeping speed of service at the registers quick. The cashiers seem genuinely friendly, at least many who have helped during the pm shifts. I live closer to the Safeway on oracle and Ina, yet I go out of my way to visit this location because the service here is better, and there’s typically less rude people crowding up the aisles. I can’t even count the number of times people have shoved their way into line in front of me at that location. But I suppose paying higher property tax entitles you to cut others off. This store is relatively smaller so its easy to grab what you need. Easy to find parking too and it’s not hard to swing back onto Prince or Campbell from this intersection.

This Safeway isn’t the greatest, nor is this location the worst. The customer service here is good, unless you’re going to the deli or bakery area. Associates are almost impossible to find. Bakery items are almost always out when I come in during weekday evenings. I found expired cheesecake here once also. For frozen food and boxed items this place is good, but for anything«fresh» I wouldn’t recommend it. I never buy bagged salad here because it’s usually at its expiration date on the shelf. Like previous reviewers stated, there are a lot of homeless people around outside. I also once saw two women get in a fight in the parking lot. Another evening I saw a drunk man harassing the front end supervisor and he refused to leave. He also harassed customers and was cussing up a storm. This is an interesting Safeway that’s for sure. Nothing more to say about it.

So this location was out completely out of bananas and there were about 5 bell peppers just chillin’, lookin’ wrinkled. I managed to locate a decent looking one but it will be used within 48 hrs for sure. The store is pretty clean but the shelves always look picked over when I get there, normally between 7 and 9pm on a weekday. It’s really close to my apartment, which is the reason I go to this one but my fave Safeway is on Broadway/Campbell.

Seeing Jennifer’s review reminded me to do this. So it is so much nicer with the redone deli, bakery and produce area. That is where I spend most of my time. There is not a lot of options for grocery stores in the area and this one has been sufficiently improved. Thank goodness!

Un-safeway. Meet homeless people and drug addicts while you shop for food.
