We stayed 2 nights at this lovely place and recommend it wholeheartedly! Our hostess went out of her way to make our stay as nice as possible and offered suggestions for places to eat and sights to see. The B&B is in an historic neighborhood which made our morning walks enjoyable. The breakfasts were well-prepared and delicious. We’ve stayed in many B&B’s over the years and this one rates close to the top!

Thanks to Unilocal,I found out about this place. Lovely! And in walking distance to the university as well as the Lerua’s, the best place for green corn tamales(I wish I could find them in Berkeley!). The host was very accommodating and offered me a phone to use. The smallest room was quite comfortable with a large bed, fan, night table, and very nice bathroom. Every day she gave me a new supply of bottled water. She also recommended places to see and helped me find my way there. I was in Tucson for a conference, and staying at the inn provided me with the right amount of quiet and convenience.

I stayed at the Sam Hughes Inn in Tucson because price was right and it was walking distance to University of Arizona. Owner Lady was very responsible, she emailed me a day in advance to check what time I’ll be arriving and my dietary restrictions for breakfast. I arrived late night and she planned everything for my arrival, got the keys. I picked the smallest room in the house. House is old fashioned house but was beautiful. My room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. She offers breakfast in the mornings, had one of them and it was good. Coffee was ready early morning. There is TV in the living room. I had my own private bathroom and it was clean and I had everything I need. House has a nice garden that you can enjoy your breakfast or have quite time. Owner Lady has a small dog, which was very quite during my stay. My only complain was that one evening there was heavy cooking smell and I couldn’t open window. It got chilly in the evening when I stayed but heater was working very well. I am not sure if there is air-conditioner since I did not need one. Wi-Fi was free and working well. Overall, it’s a friendly place if you look for a home-like place and don’t want to stay in a hotel.

Fantastic experience from a nice clean room to a very gracious host who created a scrumptious breakfast each morning, even when we were the only couple there. Wonderful setting with free parking at the door, a peaceful garden with fountain that attracted local bird life, and a super comfortable room with fridge and micro. The coffee was available early and delightful. The location is very convenient. I’m not typically a B&B person, but this may have changed my mind. She also lists on Purple Roofs(thanks Susan!) This was an especially great experience after spending much more at a nearby hotel where I went for a conference and met with a lot of issues with the room and a real lackluster, who-cares response to my letter to them(see my review).

This was our home for 4 nights. It’s located in the historic Sam Hughes neighborhood a few blocks walk from the University of Arizona campus. There’s no sign marking it as a B&B and it blends quietly into the surrounding neighborhood. The innkeeper is Susan Banner. The house dog is a poodle/Chinese Crested mix named Lucy who fortunately got the poodle looks and hair. She was adorable and friendly and it’s a great surprise that none of the guests has kidnapped her. There are four rooms and visiting academics often stay there. Our room was the Santa Fe and its entrance was from the beautiful, peaceful patio. There are tables, chairs and benches in the patio and garden and the splashing of the fountain makes it a lovely place to sit. Our room was large and comfortable w/a high, rustic four-poster bed and plenty of storage and good light. There was a basket of full sized shampoos, conditioners and other amenities. The towels were wonderful soft, fluffy and a gorgeous mossy green. There’s a little refrigerator under the desk and bottled water is replenished daily. The tile floors feel wonderful on bare feet in hot weather. There’s a ceiling fan to circulate the air. Breakfast is served at 8:15. I wasn’t thrilled w/that, but it was fine. The food varied from day to day and it was very good. Company, as always, was excellent. There is a comfortably set up computer room and there’s wifi in the rooms. Adjacent to the computer room is an attractive and comfortably furnished gathering room w/well stocked book shelves that make it look like a library. The cost of our room was very reasonable, particularly for what it offered.
