Sonic Drive In

Haven’t been to a Sonic since way back in TX. And hubby loves their stuff, good thing the nearest one back home is a ways away.
A little after two, we got the Happy Hour corn dogs for 99c a piece. And the crispy deep fried tater tots that were too greasy for me but hubby likes them. Couple of large Cherry limeades rounded up this not-​so-​healthy but fun outing.
Parking lot was empty and we just drove up to the stall to order. The credit card station made it quick and easy, no handling of coins.

It took 10 minutes just to get one burger and when I did get it, it was really hard and only barely warm. I asked them to take it back and it took another 10 minutes to get a new burger which was hot, but also really hard. You’d think in 10 minutes they could have made me a fresh burger… Anyway, this wasn’t the first time I had a problem at this Sonic, but I had decided to give them another chance. I won’t be back again tho.

This place has major problems… left to go to the next closest Sonic. Sat at the drive-​thru with one car in front of us for 10 mins before going to the drive up stations to sit while no one in any station got service…

This sonic is terrible… I thought they were all the same but I was wrong. We got a hot dog from them and it was hard and rubbery. It was like a two year old hot dog we just threw it out and didn’t even complain

This is the slowest Sonic I have ever been to. Trip one was for a shake, it took between 10 – 15 minutes on a slow night. Trip two was for two sandwiches. With only one other car infront of me, it took 15 – 20 minutes from the time I ordered in the drive thru to get my meal. From the looks of it, there was only one person working the am shift, and she didn’t seem like a morning person. Love sonic, just not this one.

This Sonic is between my house and my work, and I stop often. For one thing, they give a free 44 oz drink on your next visit if you complete the call-​in survey on your receipt, and I LOVE the diet cherry slush (with extra syrup!) They also make the best corn dogs and onion rings – absolutely delicious breading. And most important for me, the staff is VERY FRIENDLY and helpful, and it’s a nice way to start my day!

Y’know… I thought I knew everything I needed to know about Sonic from the multitude of times that I had been to them while living in Arkansas. What more could one possibly want than an order of crispy-​on-​the-​outside, potatoey-​on-​the-​inside tater tots and a Rt. 44 cherry limeade, right? I just found recently found out.
After checking out Get Smart at a nearby sketchtastic movie theater, we braved the monsoon rains of the Tucson summer to catch a quick late night snack at this Sonic, and I was doubly impressed and disappointed.
Impressed:
Sonic has amazing breakfast burritos, offered any time of the day? What?! They apparently do! Soft tortilla that holds up well to the stuffing of eggs, sausage, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and jalapenos. Yes — jalapenos come in these puppies! One of these is definitely more than satisfying for one person. Get the meal and share with a friend, because you’ll also get an order of the incredible tater tots, and a drink. And by «drink» I mean cherry limeade, of course.
Disappointed:
I have never ever encountered a cherry limeade at Sonic that didn’t have real muddled maraschino cherries and real sliced up limes… until now. In the words of Super Mario Twins (
): «What in de hell?!» I did not come here and pay money for syrup and carbonated water! I came for the real stuff! Was my limeade still tasty? Sure. But it’s the principle of the matter, and this principle, my good friends, was horribly violated.
On balance, Sonic’s a rock star as far as fast food joints go. Would this make me reconsider the possibility of a two hour road trip to visit a Sonic in the future? Heck, yeah. We’re all about Real Reviews by Real People. You should stick to Real Cherry Limeades by Real Sonics. Meh.
