This is the place you want to go to. I had jeans I needed to be altered and she walked me through the whole process. Apparently you are supposed to wash jeans before getting them altered because they will shrink. She’s really knowledgable and helped me from getting my pants too short. She’s also very affordable. I only pas $ 8! She does have a no credit card rule if it’s under $ 10.

As you may know from some of my other reviews, I’m a hardcore thrifter. I would be lost without Ruth of Speed Stitch. Most of my picks aren’t my size. I bring my hauls in to her, and she transforms my finds into wearable garments. She is fantastic — a wunderkind. I’m asked all the time about the amazing fit of my clothes, and I owe it all to her. I wear a 0, but I regularly bring in items that are much larger, and she miraculously shrinks everything down to my size — you would never know the piece had been altered. Every once in awhile she protests and tells me she doesn’t want to do a job, but then she good-naturedly agrees to tackle it, and it is done to perfection. She also fits my husband’s suits, and she has resized clothing for my Chihuahaus! She loves my dogs, I bring them in with me all the time. Her prices are reasonable too. I’ve gone to Mendel’s Wife the Taylor and Ruth charges way less for the same work. She prefers cash for small jobs — anything in the $ 10-$ 15 range and under, but she’ll take credit cards for more expensive purchases.
