Formerly a high-end resort motel, Sunpointe Gardens has been re-configured into small apartment units. I stayed in a short-term furnished«corporate» unit that was completely equipped with complete small kitchen, cookware, bedding, towels, air conditioning units in both rooms and TV. Everything was spotlessly clean. The quality of the furnishings was basically Walmart but the ground landscaping and pool were really nice and very well maintained — a legacy from its resort days. The entrance balcony outside my unit was shared with just one other unit and felt private, with no foot traffic outside my windows. The entire grounds and parking lot are inside a locked security fence(you have a wireless key) and the surrounding neighborhood west of Oracle is actually quiet and pleasant. Before I got there I worried that it might be occupied mostly by families in transition or disintegration, with children spilling out of every door. There were a few well-behaved children around, but the occupants in April were mostly older snow-birds who return to Sunpointe year after year. In fact, there is a central clubhouse available for group get-togethers — a great set-up for a family re-union and for longer-term visitors. High season(Jan-Mar) rates for a unit over $ 1000 per month but from April onwards rates are WAY lower; I considered my unit a fantastic bargain. The place is intelligently run and was a real find. I recommend it with only one caveat: you might want to bring your own sheets and towels if you like 100% cotton.
