This was the perfect breakfast with colleagues on the first day of our conference at Loews Resort. I ordered the vegetarian Mediterranean Omelet with no cheese + Turkish Coffee. I added the hot sauce to the omelet. Both tasted excellent with just the right portion size. We enjoyed eating outside on a beautiful sunny morning.

The food was exceptionally overpriced and not worth it. The combination plate was $ 17.99 and had oversized portions of rice and tabouleh, but had only one small falafel, a very small kuba, and four of the smallest, blandest dolmades(think pinky finger). The only standout was the baba ghanoush, which was flavorful. The gyro platter and individual sandwich were also overpriced, although the gyro meat was alright. You must pay for your meal beforehand, which isn’t a big deal except you have to tip before you know the quality(or lack thereof) of the food or the service. Bottom line: overpriced, no atmosphere, self-service, slightly below average Greek.

The breakfast sandwiches were EFFINTERRIBLE and really EXPENSIVE. I went there this AM and got 2 breakfast sandwiches to go. One was a wrap and one was on a(FAKE) bagel. For a $ 6.99 price tag the sandwiches had ONEEGG not two and one slice of tomato. One slice of tomato, are you kidding me? THEYSHOULDBEASHAMEDOFTHEMSELVES. I love these places that think customers have suddenly gone insane and will think that the dog shit they serve is really really great and will come back for more servings of dog shit in the future. Let’s hear it for the restaurants that have already resigned themselves to the fact that you will never come back again and embrace serving you the worst crap possible. $ 15 for two egg sanwiches is obscene to begin with. Less than one star.

Overpriced. Slow service. Strange atmosphere(Middle Eastern meets cheesy Hollywood movies. We felt like we were on the set of Indian Jones). Mediocre food. Small portions. I ordered the vegetarian combination platter and my partner ordered the big Greek salad. We both walked away hungry. Dry dolmas and falafel. Watery baba. Buttery tasting tzatziki. Overall, just not good. But the pita was delicious. Family owned and friendly, so two stars — not one. But it’s a stretch…

NO. NO. NO. Their espresso machine is broken and yet they still make coffee with it. It’s dirty here too. Yuck.

Sunrise Café is a wee gem of a Greek/Middle Eastern/Americana café tucked in an upscale strip mall on Sunrise, of course. They serve everything from dolmades and moussaka to BLTs and bagel sandwiches. We cozied up on a patio table apres hike with the quiet yet large hound in tow. No one batted an eye as the lazy beast curled up beneath our table, always a good sign. Sunrise has a laid back, friendly vibe that transcends the food, with gorgeous Kurdish portraits and comfy cushions along the banquette. The fat-to-bursting lamb gyro was moist and delish, and while the cucumber salad was heavy on green peppers and light on cuke, the service was quick and friendly and ingredients popping fresh. It’s nice to have a go-to Foothills brunch that won’t strain the wallet.

Great coffee, great pita bread with gyro meat and taziki sauce. My husband had the beef kabab and yellow rice. We both shared a walnut baklava. Very good over all. Great décor with cultural influence from the Kurdish nation.

I stopped in around 11am after a short hike near the Sabino Canyon. I ordered the $ 10 gyro lunch special with the fries. The gyro was good. It was not the best gyro I ever had but good enough. The baklava was on-point for sure, though! On the negative side, the fries were super basic. I am pretty sure they were plain ‘ol Ore-Ida from the frozen section of Safeway(without seasoning or salt). The woman working the counter was very helpful when I asked for a recommendation.

over-priced been there at least 5 separate times. The food is good. The coffee is good. The service is meh. I’m not sure about the boy waiter/cook in the back. I get the feeling his family owns the place. He certainly has a way of making you feel illegitimate for being there. He is not friendly, and he will make you know your presence is a chore for him. I feel it has tremendous potential, which is why i gave them 3 stars.

I haven’t written a review in some time but I felt compelled to after lunch at Sunrise Café because hands down this is the worst place I’ve eaten in Tucson. I went with two other people and all three dishes were terrible and so overpriced I was in shock. I ordered the Gyro salad, which came with either«gyro meat or chicken.» I asked if the gyro meat was lamb and the girl said she didn’t know but«thought so». I decided to try it with chicken. The almost $ 10 salad was very small and consisted of iceberg lettuce, CANNED black olives(I thought this place was Mediterranean!- what an embarrassment), a few unripe tomato slices and what I presume was pieces of chicken but the cubes looked like some kind of sausage and they were as tough as the soles of my shoes. The mystery salad dressing came in a squeeze bottle that looked like it should be for ketchup and was not tasty. The salad came with a heaping side of white pita bread which was fine, but really just tasted like a side of white bread and certainly didn’t make up for my pitiful salad. My sister had the cous cous salad which is ironic because when she got it we couldn’t even see any cous cous in it until she poked around and found a tiny sprinkling at the bottom of the(very small) bowl. The salad was also very expensive, minuscule and had cheap ingredients as well. She actually went back in to complain that the«cous cous salad» didn’t have hardly any cous cous– so they sprinkled a little more on top. When I say sprinkle you’d think this was sugar she asked for, not the spoonfuls of cous cous one would expect out of a $ 9 salad with that name! The third plate was the spanakopita, which tasted like it came out of the freezer and was microwaved. Thumbs down to that dish. Lastly, we ordered iced coffee which was served in a styrofoam to-go cup(for hot drinks) and tasted like the bottom of an old coffee pot(probably because it was 2 pm and the coffee was not fresh). We dined in the restaurant and not once did someone come up to ask us if we were enjoying the meal or needed anything. If I could give zero stars I would, for quality, taste, value and service. This restaurant does not deserve to be called! Mediterranean Cuisine. I will never eat here again.

The breakfast prices here are out of sight. With tax, over $ 8 for two eggs, bacon and toast, no potatoes? Why bother when there are great breakfast places in Tucson for half the price?

«Above Par» is the best way to sum this place up. They are consistent. The food — whether it be eggs and pancakes with home fries for breakfast, tabouli with dolmas for lunch, or gyro for dinner — is always tasty and fresh. I believe they make the BEST tzatziki in town. The service isn’t always the cheeriest, but they are always helpful, prompt, and precise. If they smiled and showed a little more personality, it would be easy to bump them up to 5 stars. The other way they could bump up to 5 stars would be to lower EVERYTHING on the menu by about 50 to 75 cents(everything — the cans of V8, the coffee beverages, the side items). For how limited in space they are, the dining area is still accommodating and spacious. It is also kept cleanly and I like the array of reading materials they provide. Though it is tucked in the NE corner of town — if you are ever near, and enjoy good food, this is a must try.

Sunrise is a breakfast and lunch place, but I can’t figure out why they are open for dinner. Nobody was in the restaurant when we arrived, and a trickle of mostly take-out customers came through during the excessive amount of time we spent there. Kids wanted gyros. Two stars because the pita was soft and warm, which did me no good because I don’t eat bread(great for bread eaters though). The shish kebob took half an hour, and then was chewy and really not worth the wait — I can make much better fare at home. Unfortunately they have no clue about kids, and didn’t offer to bring out the kids’ food early; when we asked about the delay, they did bring it out, but it still took a while. The had 2 people working and they said that they weren’t used to being so busy at night. As stated above, skip it for dinner, unless you call in and pick it up 45 mins later to take home!

I had brunch here with a friend after my morning run at Sabino Canyon. I think I was so hungry I would have eaten the tablecloth. She had a nice little breakfast plate and I ordered a salad. It was almost 11am but I am pretty sure my gyro chicken on my salad was just reheated in the microwave from the day before. If I’m going to eat Greek food, I think I am going to stick to «My Big Fat Greek Restaurants.»

I took my wife and kids here, and I ordered a meal with hummus substituted for another item. The waitress brought my order out without the substitution, saying her boss instructed her to do this. Well, if she’d informed me at the time I’d ordered, I could have chosen something else. But to tell me after the food arrived, with my family ready to eat after a long wait, what was I supposed to do? Also significantly better Mediterranean food in town(e.g., Zayna). Haven’t been back.

Coffee was decent not great but decent. I made it easy to please all I wanted was a greek salad… terrible. I was really let down by this place. My friend had a larger salad and it was bland as well. The prices don’t match the experience what so ever. I would say that this is not worth going to. Unfortunately I was expecting more.
